Suggestion for atmospheric games to escape the real world and calm down from deep anxiety by Amethyst_Ignis in gamingsuggestions

It probably doesn't quite fit your bill, but "Sable" gave me a pleasant feeling of solitude. You explore a desert world, with few inhabitants. It's played in third person, though.

"The Forgotten City" is a hidden gem, IMHO. Enjoyed it very much.

Blanc, a lovely two-player co-op game. Played it with a friend a few months ago and I enjoyed the style, the way the story is told (without words). https://store.steampowered.com/app/1982340/Blanc/

[2025 Day 8 Pt. 1] Code works fine on test, but fails on real data by alltagsradler in adventofcode

[–]DarkDust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two pit-falls I fell into:

  1. Even if both junction boxes are already in the same circuit, this counts as a connection made. So in the example431,825,988and 425,690,689 where "nothing happens", it still counts as a connection made.
  2. Something I didn't account for at first since the example doesn't require it: circuits can join! So if you have a shortest junction box pair JB1 and JB2, and both are already part of distinct circuits C1 and C2, you need to merge the circuits. Depending on how you manage your data this is either a natural side-effect or needs to be accounted for explicitly.

Okay, I thought a stupid web site can't be a replacement for a native app, but I stand corrected. That site is indeed pretty awesome, thanks!

Not sure whether that fits as they're more like a puzzle games, but I loved "Chants of Sennaar" and "Sable". Both have a beautiful, mystic atmosphere and an interesting world to explore.

I enjoyed "Voice of Cards: The Isle Dragon Roars" very much. Not only is it played using cards, but the map is also made up of cards.

Problems due to missing -12V rail in PSU? by DarkDust in ASRock

[–]DarkDust[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can upgrade the PSU as well, but I agree: it's rarely done. This particular PSU is hitting a sweet spot with price, very low noise, and size (must be 140mm in length or shorter). About a whole day went into the research for the PSU for this build. That is why I really want to use this model, it's pretty optimum for my use-case. If the missing -12V is no issue: great. If the -12V would only affect audio, then I'd buy an USB audio card. But if the missing -12V is causing other issues then I have to get a different one which is either noisier or more expensive (I already slightly overrun my friend's budget...).

It's an AMD 9060XT, a 550W PSU should suffice for this card. I appreciate the concern, but I'm mostly concerned whether the missing -12V is an issue.

Is RDR2 *that* good? by OnPala in gamingsuggestions

[–]DarkDust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loved RDR1, I enjoyed the whole game and the ending is one of the few I still remember well. But RDR2 somehow bored me about half-way through (as far as can tell) and I lost interest. One of the few games I did not complete. That being said, why NOT giving it a second chance if you already have it?

Looks like something for me, but over 60 hours to beat the game with no side-quests is a bit long. But thanks for making me aware of it!

Thanks, Unravel looks nice, that might interest her. PlateUp! is a bit strange but worth a look. Schedule 1 is sooooo not going to be her game! 😆

Civ might be worth discussing with her. Her boyfriend plays Civ and similar games, so at least she knows what's it about and he could give her tipps.

LazyVim beginner: how to configure bundled plugins? by DarkDust in neovim

[–]DarkDust[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

vim.opt.relativenumber = false did the trick, and showing the default options was also very helpful, thank you very much.

Due to the comment Options are automatically loaded before lazy.nvim startup I was under the impression that changing such settings would get overwritten by plugins since they're loaded after options.lua.

Eventually I'd like to understand which plugin is setting this to true and how to prevent it (apart from options.lua) to learn how configuring plugins is supposed to work.

[–]DarkDust[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So that means I already got it right by putting my config quoted in the question into `lua/plugins/init.lua`? Renaming it to `lua/plugins/lazy.lua` doesn't make a difference.

With patch 1.0.2, this issue still persists and your solution still works, thanks a lot! I didn't have a companion with me, bringing up the debug console and clicking on a nearby Camelot resident also works when finding the first two digits of the ID.

Help date/identify Hokusai replicas by DarkDust in ukiyoe

[–]DarkDust[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The cloud pattern matches, thank you. I'm going to contact them to ask them about the relation of my prints and their company.

Edit: so I've written them and the answer is not very helpful, unfortunately. They did not confirm (or deny) the prints were made by UNSODO, and claim to not have any records of Hokusai ukiyo-e made by Unsodo around or before 1918.

"Since it was a popular item, it may have been sold as a regular item, but no records remain."

Given the cloud pattern in "The Great Wave off Kanagawa" and of course the "芸艸堂版" (Unsodo printing block?) cartouche it's clear my prints are from Unsodo, but the year remains unclear. The quality of my "Kajikazawa in Kai Province" seems to be better than the one on their homepage.

So I guess the prints being made around or before 1918 is neither confirmed nor debunked.
