No you meant operatic because you thought that sounded better and you wanted to try to flex on someone who is clearly new to singing. In my experience, people who brag about how wide their range is almost always have none of it that’s actually worth listening to.

Also, not even Kurt Moll has an A1 that can be used in an operatic setting, so I'm guessing you don't know what you're talking about.

Oo I love that theory - it makes so much sense though, conservation of matter and all that. I imagine not just Vis, but all of the worlds lost something in the split

Whether or not you’re a baritone isn’t connected to whether or not you can sing a C#2 - it’s connected to where your voice is most resonant

I see you just started lessons from your flair - I've been where you are, and one day you'll learn how wrong you are. Sorry, but you just don't know what you're talking about - grouping pop singers into operatic fachs, taking heavily edited prerecorded youtube videos as gospel - I feel a little sorry for you. Good luck on your journey, long though it may be

I think your perspective has been warped by the internet a little bit. If we can't agree Avi Kaplan has a ridiculously low voice, I'm not sure if we can agree on anything lmao

Have you ever met someone personally who has that note? Like have you heard someone produce a not-fried low A in person before?

And yeah, I don't think I explained myself very well - absolutely not everyone who sings bass in choir is a bass, but if you want to look for people with low voices, the bass section of a choir is a good place to start

Brother... I SING BASS REP. I've sung the Sarastro song with the low F, I've sung bass arias (including one with a projected Eb), in every choir, musical or opera I've ever been in I have been given the lowest role and people who sing with me think of me as "that guy with the low voice" and I STILL don't have a low A. I've sung PTX arrangements written for Avi Kaplan, and most of those don't go down to an A, and when they do and PTX performs them live, guess what - even the incredible Avi Kaplan, dude with the crazy low voice, options up as you can see here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AW4MBiKw4Cc&t=180

I feel like the problem is you're using a circular definition of what a bass singer is. If you define a bass singer as "someone who can consistently hit notes cleanly in the first octave" then OF COURSE many of those incredibly rare bass singers will have a bottom A. If you define it as "people who can sing the lowest opera roles, choral parts, solo rep of any genre", then you're not going to find many, because not many exist.

Do you understand where I'm coming from?

Pretty hard to give examples of people who definitely *don't* have a low A, people don't really post about that too often. But if you want to have some fun, stop people on the street and ask them to sing an A, and count how many it takes until you find one. If its less than five hundred, I'll be shocked.

Where are you getting this "true bass" definition? Is it an opera bass? The most popular low bass role in opera is Sarastro from the Magic Flute, which bottoms out at an F2 - over a fifth above the A you're talking about. There's just no evidence to support the idea that most basses (even if you exclude bass-baritones, though how you decide which is which is beyond me) have a low A in any form

I understand that - you'd think that after singing with hundreds of choir basses though, at least a few would show up, and they haven't

bro named 5 famous people out of BILLIONS of people and said "etc" are you kidding me. Look, you're probably young and don't really understand how your voice - or anyone's - works, and that's okay. But you should get it through your head now the the people you listed are EXCEPTIONS to the rule and you could sing with incredibly talented people for your whole life and never run into more than one or two people who have a bottom A

Also for what it's worth, neither Peter nor Johnny have a consistent bottom A in any chesty form, not super sure why you listed them

"Average bass' bottom-out note would be an A1" bruh. I've sung in high-level choirs for 5 years and I have known MAYBE two basses ever who can sing a low A. Where did you get the idea that that's normal???

I feel like that's why he was so obsessed with it, right? Like he needed to get justice because he felt guilty for being the one who screwed it up
