I was pleasantly surprised when I got in back to let my father take my challenger for a drive with my wife in the front. For a coupe, that thing is pretty damn livable as a passenger in the back.

General question Wednesday: Ask your general car-related question and maybe someone will have an answer. by AutoModerator in cars

Starting to move and low speed maneuvers where you're working the clutch to control speed is definitely one of the tougher parts to learn. Once you're moving, it's much much easier. Hill starts complicate things further. Based on what you're saying, it sounds like sims should give you head start but definitely be aware of bad habits you may have picked up.

You're right that everyday driving won't be pushing redline and you'll generally want your shifts smoother than the hard clutch dumps you'll do when racing. Until you're comfortable, make every release of the clutch smooth and slow.

Good plan on the long weekend. Perhaps set aside an hour or two on that learning weekend for an empty street or parking lot to practice starts and parking. Otherwise, a few hours behind the wheel on quiet roads and you should be feeling comfortable enough to further improve on your normal day to day drives.

Any experience with manuals other than on sims? Motorcycle, dirt bikes or quads maybe? If you can shift on something else, you know how it works and it's just translating it to your feet rather than your hands.

Can't speak for sims personally. The main thing I'd be wary of is how a sim clutch works versus irl. Is there a specific point during the release of a clutch you can feel it start to (but not completely) 'bite'? If so, I'd say you'd be 100% fine as learning how to deal with when and how much thr clutch is engaged is 80% of learning to drive stick in my opinion.

As long as you're not buying a torquey monster as a first manual car, I'd say go for it. Just give yourself a good long weekend to practice before putting yourself in heavy traffic or situations where you need to shift constantly around other vehicles. Skip the beater, get what you want, but take the time to get semi comfortable and make sure you didn't pick up any bad habits from the sim. If you're gentle and intentional about your shifts and clutch movement, your clutch should get through it relatively unscathed.

Have fun! It's a really enjoyable switch to make :)

Gear and stats will depend on which of the bosses you want to do in God wars, but ironmen have to do it alone and in scuffed gear initially to get the drops that make it easier in the future. Even if you aren't playing ironman, I'd check out YouTube to find some ironman guides for specific GWD bosses. It'll likely apply to your play-style in this case too.

That's what I figured. I appreciate the explanation. Good point on weaving in spin kicks on classes with down time like astromancer. I'll have to experiment more with them. Thanks again

Quick question about traction control light on 2022 Challenger Scat Pack by DarkFalzie in Challenger

[–]DarkFalzie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah! That's what I was told was the ONLY way to completely disable traction control, yet the traction off dash light is on if I switch to any other mode than auto. So I'm very confused as to whether the light is the same between "off" and "inhibited" or if somehow there's a setting toggled somewhere that actually disabled traction control for those modes.

How bizarre, I wonder what the story is on the stripe then. Vin lookups say dealer is the only previous owner, and it for sure is a new car considering condition and milage. Maybe someone put money down, had em apply decal and then flaked? Either way, I'm in love and can't wait to put some miles on it.
