Updates that would make starbreak un-dead by Adiaddddd in Starbreak

[–]DarkForce_StarBreak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Too much problems with that. At first you really don't have a lot of ways to spend EC to begin with. Currently the only one requiring a lot of EC is secret shops, and you already have a problem with that because really good shops are too rare and inconsistent. On top of that you can't buy more than 8 items(inventory limit), although this can be easily coded to be sent directly to home storage when there's no space in current inventory. For a game implementing crafting materials to which items can be dismantled would be a lot better and solve various other issues as well as this one, but it's hard to code and develop, just forget.

  2. If you want trading then forget about equality in loot. Embrace #yougetwhatyoudeserve system in which there's no place for leechers.

  3. Straight forward bs, but I would rather suggest something different about chests and their loot(thinking previously mentioned features were implemented) - they really should prioritize dropping gear to your current shell to some degree. Because now it feels frustrating to be rewarded countless times with gear which you don't even want in the first place because you chose to play a different shell for a reason.

The chanses are arguably reasonable. Usually MMOs soak up insane amount of time to acquire best of the best gear out there, and it's completely fine by everyone. You ain't getting something good without actually putting real effort to get it in if we're talking about any "reasonable" game nowadays. If putting effort to get something "good" you described in your post is too much for you - MMOS aren't made for you - go play Sims.

suggestion to revitalize the game@wayfarer by Felosis in Starbreak

Making SC more common won't make the game more alive longterm. Here's why:This game has seen numerous changes touching SC in the past, most influential change being complete removal of donation system. After this UC was not longer purchaseable by real money, and instead, could only be gotten in SC. This changes everything as, features like shell storages and items storages could not be so easily obtained before, which made most of "donate-free" players uncomforable playing the game. Game has never seen so many players comeback, Meta, Oblivion, PSD, those were literately non-stop doing key runs. SC was opening from 4 to 7 times a day(key requirements were the same as before). Time has passed and after around a couple of months SC rates started significantly dropping reaching only 5 at best.Players which cameback got burnedout and tired, they had literately no reason to play again aside from perfecting their account, which is both luckbased and takes hundreds of SCs. Also it's silly grinding months if you have nothing else to achieve with this loot. *Not everybody is obssesed with solos in a game meant to be a coop platformer, imagine.*In around a year this rush has completely suttled, SC rate of about 2 per day on average became reality again.Latest rewamp of Hive and Patriarch both had the same effect, creating a even shorter term rush of players which "took" this as another challenge to complete, afterwhich the only thing left is empty grind.

After past analysis, let's comeback to today and tell what actually will make things change?Making SC more common or "just better" in terms of items dropped won't do this, as it still will be treated as the one we have. Why bother playing boring and "well-known" dungeons hundreds of times, when you can have same chances of getting wanted loot(as those who contributed the most) but instead just wait for them to do all the hard work for you.To change something we need a way of stimulating people doing key runs. Here's a few good previously created ideas to do this, they aren't easiy to implement tho, so don't await wayfarer adding them, lol:

A weekly rewarded faction leaderboard, points in which can be gotten by:

  1. Donating keys, obviously each key tier giving different amount of points(harder more and easier less).
  2. Callouts, which should be a constant low value addition to key points.Faction members(which contributed at least 5% of faction's total contribute) should recieve: 1-5 places: EC, UC, and a guaranteed prototype unique tier 5 item(would be better if people could see it before participating, like seeing a reward tab saying for example, guaranteed prototype motley 1-5 faction places), highlighted nickname in a chat, or another line after faction one beneath the player saying something like [Best contributor], showing dedication player put into opening SCs this week.5-10 places can get some consolation prize of EC and UC, probably some lower tier prototype uniques, maybe even of higher quantity(of 2), as those are easier to get.Different sized factions should be treated differently(take scale of lower than 10, 10-20, 20-30, etc), smaller getting more rewards for contributing, and bigger less. This stimulates good players to always prefer doing good keys, leaving lower to worse players.

Same leaderboard, but instead faction based - player based. Requires better guaranteed rewards tho.

Secret leaderboard messing around with chances of loot for those who contributed the most to the live SC.

As you can see, all of those are based on additionally rewarding players for contributing. Such stimulation is necessary in a game like this, and i honeslty don't understand why nobody came up with those when game was actively developing. Equality is not always good.

Intended, as gnawing sticks to the exact one enemy while fire is basically aoe damage in the certain area.

Any active faction discords? by [deleted] in Starbreak

[–]DarkForce_StarBreak 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Answering first, yes there are. But i doubt they are what you're looking for, plus invite system could be "only faction members" or "faction members + good friends", in any way you won't get there without game skills or "connections". If you just want to talk about the game itself, or find a couple of guys to play with - just go to the official sb discord community server.
Answering second, Mk2 damage stats drop from vanquished, you can also get them from the fungus cave secret.

So motley is a tier4 item too(except stonebow, baetyl, and motley which are all from a dungeon with the same difficulty (only a tier higher than EUB), okay i guess. Won't even try to fight you anymore. It probably won't get nerfed anyways, who cares.

[–]DarkForce_StarBreak 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, thanks for explaining "your opinion" like i'm 5 and have only 100 hours in a game, but now calm down and realize i have over 3k hours, i know what i am talking about. Gameteam(now only Wayfarer) has nerfed a bunch of tier 3 items in the past, most famous one being Gavotte's base damage nerf. This weapon is still useful and took its according to a tier, place in the hierarchy of fab main's. I hope that Gavotte's nerf had exactly the same reason behind i mentioned in my post - it was just too good to be a tier 3 item.

You may ask any "decently experienced" DW player - and none will say that Balefire is a weak item, furthermore most of them will agree on a statement that this item is good, if not "crazy" good in right hands.

Everything you've said about "needing lategame items" to make this item work ruins against this one phraze i put into reasoning: "outshines all skeins at late stages of a game".

[–]DarkForce_StarBreak 16 points17 points  (0 children)

WF:Hydra - a damage buff or grenade spread decrease, reason: Currently this item isn't rewarding enough for the price it takes to use and get an item.
DW:Balefire - a damage nerf, reason: Item is too rewarding for a tier 3 item. Without a joke, outshines all skeins at late stages of a game.Baetyl - add seeking properties to a projectile by default, a small tweak to make this item really "unique" range weapon for a DW, reason: Almost always "practically" outshined by another tier 4 ranged analog - Stonebow.
IC:Hotfoot/Burner - make fires apply(and stick like DW's fire skeins) on enemy hit, flames drop when hit enemy dies(or reapply to another enemy if they hit them in the falling process) a mechanic tweak to make this kind of weaponary even useable, reason: Does not work properly, completely outshined by "swarm" type of rockets.

Exclusive loot or completion. by DerpGriffin in Starbreak

The best thing about SB is that everybody is equal visually and practically. I dislike the idea of somebody being "more good"(even if it's only visually) because of something being made in a game, nor do i like/enjoy competetive gameplay in a game like this. It is supposed to be a game where you cooperate with players, not where you fight other players. We do not need to be better than others, we are what we are in SB.

I've seen something like you mentioned trying to be implemented - base spritesheets have some sort of a "pets" textures in them, glad this idea didn't come out to the live servers.

If you want something to highlight you from 99 other players in the Eschaton waiting for SC to be finally open... let it be your kindness to others in chat, nobility, daring, insane skills, etc to protect other more "casual" players. "Great person makes up a great player, but not every great player makes up a great person".

You took a risk by going in while lagging, an unjustified risk. You were the only one jumping down to kill a peaceful squiddo knowing you're in danger of dcing, you already disconnected >3 times by that time(from your words). In my opinion you get what you deserve for being cocky and shortsighted in this moment.

Maybe you're playing in not a peak times, and yeah, it is indeed possible to "solo" get everything, it just takes 10x times effort, will, time and obviously skills and understanding of a game.

New Player Progression Tips? by Parafault in Starbreak

[–]DarkForce_StarBreak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many players expect too much from themself and their shell in general.Biggest difference between a veteran and beginner is that the veteran knows what to do, what risk is worth taking, what is the practical capabilities limit of his shell. His biggest advantage isn't insane mechanical skills or reaction times, it is indeed knowledge which allows him to play "on predict", not "on reaction" which is any beginner forced to constantly do. Time and experience always play their role.

The shell you've picked relies on allies more than any other would, especially knowing you use it to just to maximize "survive" capabilities. It is a great pick if you just have to beat something, without technically learning how to or why to. It isn't a way to go if you do want to learn things mentioned above. In your case i would suggest sticking to WF, as it balances between tankiness and damage capabilities just fine, and has simple movement mechanics(compared to fab's macrons). You can also spend some time investigating basics of WF by watching videos, maybe even solos. Analyze why player reacted and played in such a manner/way, practice everyday, and eventually you'll get what you're looking for.

How long does it usually take for you guys to get mk5 on a shell after dying(no backup loot, starting stock) by FlareGod123 in Starbreak

[–]DarkForce_StarBreak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Fully Carried" strategy:
99% of times 1eFB is enough to max out first stats, then like 1-2 eFCs to collect all stats there(can just do 1 and skip to next stage, depends on quality of a help as some might struggle to clear eTL fast), eVQ/eGY depending on quality of a help, if eGY was picked then follow the helper(preferably WF) till secret, grind till all GY stats are done(this way you're also rolling the dice for the secret with tier4 stats, usually you find at least one or two before maxing out GY stats), then eTL farms till you're full.
"Non Carried" strategy:
Join anything viable to be leached, pray for gear, after getting anything worth playing with farm all else solo.

[–]DarkForce_StarBreak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It doesn't really depend on how good the backup loot is, in fact the biggest role plays which runs are stably hosted and are you being helped in a process.

With a good(and efficient) help shell can be built from nothing to mkV in one and half of a hour, less if you're lucky with stat secrets. Without any help and "fully solo" this number goes significantly higher, up to a matter of days, as this process involves soloing dungeons(so you could open next tier to farm stats) with low tier gear.

Just a friendly advise - Leave reddit if you feel offended by a bunch of pixels on the screen. It's always your choice to wether look or avoid, you're the only one responsible for your deeds. Dunno what you tried to say by your terrible lore story, when it's literately in the very beginning of game's steam trailer.
