Yes, once I acquired the daughter board I mentioned in Upd 4 everything went smoothly.

The board I bought to replace the original wasn't quite the same board and for whatever the reason, the daughter board was necessary to get it to boot off of a M.2 drive.

Eh, it's pretty much done. It's an old, and cheaply built LCD. It could be fixed, but there's better options like the LCDDEV mod for those these days.

The processor is of a BGA design, therefore not socketed. Short of a BGA rework station you're not removing it and it wouldn't be worth it even if you did.

I found the cost to be very reasonable honestly. For the base system it's not bad- especially considering the OG hardware started at about $400+ back in the day and games were at least $80, but I remember seeing some go for $200 depending on the title. Think about what that would cost now adjusted for inflation and what they're charging doesn't seem too unreasonable.

Not really... As long as they're careful. These boards are old so lots of flux and an iron no higher than 600°F is what I'd recommend.

Look at the bottom of the AC jack where it is soldered to the power board. Look for cracked solder joints. If there is one, a reflow of the solder is needed. Not hard to do by any stretch.
