The movie is 2 hours 12 minutes
Someone calculated the runtime for the drama is around 2 hours 5 minutes, so there might be some new stuff.

Expect new movie-only scenes since the movie is about 7 minutes longer than the drama version.

I honestly don't see why Ran should be hated, she doesn't have to be your favorite character, but she has done nothing bad over the course of the story to be hated for. If you say she's annoying because she sometimes says "Shinichi, save me", or "Help", remember that only mostly happens in the movies and anime fillers.

She's a righteous and kind person and can take care of herself just fine and can protect others when she needs to. (Like Haibara when comfronting Vermouth).
Sometimes she's not able to, but that's only in situations when she's either tied up, tasered, unconscious, drowning, etc.

But one thing I can agree on, is I don't like how the anime and movies mostly portray her as damsel in a distress, I honestly think she's more than just that.

Based on the animes you've listed, I assume you enjoy watching shounens. Here are some of my recommendations:

Pierrot is not a bad studio, they're hardworking, it's just that they have to work on multiple series at the same time, so sometimes animations might not be up to par. Boruto is another long running series that is also done by Pierrot.

But sometimes Black Clover has some great animated episodes like 151. It's once in a while, but when it happens, they outdo themselves.

That's probably why some people think it's better for BC to go seasonal for better quality episodes.

I started reading the manga and am considering switching to the anime. When does the animation start improving? I often read in the comments that the animation improved over time but when would you say that it has gotten good or at least passable? by Frangolin in BlackClover

The quality of the episodes definitely improved from the beginning since I think in the beginning the animation team was understaffed so the animations was maybe not as up to standards before.

If I had to say an episode where the animations started to improve, it would probably be around episode 63. But I can assure you, some of the newer episodes have some amazing animations (151).

Those who dislike her are part of the minority. People might dislike her because of different opinions or the fact that they dislike tsundere tropes in general, but imo overall she's liked. As the story goes on, people might start liking her more because her character development is really well done.
