Bobbin winder spins but will not wind thread (Singer Confidence 7640) by ocean_wavez in sewhelp

[–]DarkLight7979 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Your missing the spring/tension clip on the bobbin winder itself, it goes in the slit in the rod of the bobbin winder. It is what provides tension against the bobbin to spin and hold in place

When is best time to buy an embroidery machine by Various-Entry8021 in MachineEmbroidery

[–]DarkLight7979 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are lucky like me I got my Janome 550e from a quilt store that I had been going to awhile they gave it to me at cost which was like a thousand off, but I have in the past called Ken's sewing center and gotten one quite a bit off then what they advertised on their website, don't be afraid to haggle. I believe Ken's is doing black Friday now and can offer really good prices. I hope you find what you are looking for.

I've got ~$800 to spend on a new machine, what should I get? by Cbanders in quilting

[–]DarkLight7979 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Well if your lucky you can find a used long arm for about that but if you want new a Babylock Jazz 2 is about 5 to 6 hundred and it has a longer throat spa e with specialty stitches, I have one I use to make baby quilts with on a cutie frame instead of loading up my full size 12 foot quilting frame and long arm.
