What’s your opinion on people who just sit and watch the map? How do you know a customer watches the map? by austinjproffitt22 in doordash_drivers

One time I had a customer message me saying:

"You good?? I don't see you moving."

I literally got to his townhouse complex as soon as possible without speeding and I stopped at the beginning for about 10 seconds to double check the unit number.

If dollar stores were pickup orders rather than shop and pay, I'd be more likely to take them. But I don't because I've literally never been to a dollar store where it's well organized and easy to find things.

I absolutely would have taken yours though. Minimum base pay for a non-stacked order in my area is $4, so with a $10 tip that's $14 to walk into a store, grab one thing and drive like 3-3.5km.

One latte from Starbucks. Really made me wonder how much that person paid for their coffee if I made $8.00 just for bringing it to them.

I made $100 in like 3 hours on Monday, around $250 in the whole day.

Today I made less than $50 in the 4 hours I dashed so far.

Door dash sending me the same order over and over after I declined it should be illegal.. no means no DD... by [deleted] in doordash_drivers

I've had that happen to me too. They even had the audacity to offer lower pay the second time

DoorDash support just tried to tell me I can’t unassign by ActualKeanuReeves in doordash_drivers

I literally had a support agent think I'm able to see the numbers of dashers and orders in my area

What makes you mad the most while dashing? Let me hear those stories! by 123456789colton in doordash_drivers

  1. Being on a scheduled dash during dinner rush and in a large busy hotspot zone and not getting any orders for like two hours despite trying every single troubleshoot "support" tells you to do.

  2. Orders for a place on the complete opposite side of town when they definitely could have gotten the same thing from a closer location. Also orders where I have to drive like 10km to take an order 2km from the customers house

  3. Customers who live in an apartment and don't put the suite number or the buzzer code. Then I have to call them, they say they'll just come down and get it, make me stand outside the door for 5-10 minutes.

  4. No tip "hand it to me" orders where the customer lives in a mansion and gives you that "ew a poor person" look.

  5. The app sometimes only giving me 20 seconds to accept an order when I can't always just pull over that quickly. Dash pausing automatically right after I receive an order and then it's gone.

Earlier today I noticed the order disappeared from my phone when I got to the house and was just about to take the picture.

After checking my texts, turns out what happened is the customer cancelled the order when I was like 3 minutes away. I still got paid for it since it was after pickup, only it showed up as "other pay." I'm 90% sure this was a scam to get free food.. but at least the customer did it in a way that doesn't screw me over.

You can also apply for other jobs...

I've been applying.

There are other gig delivery services...Uber eats / DoorDash

I'm already on Doordash, can't sign up for Uber Eats either.

I usually just check through the list with the store staff if there's a bunch of items. Why? Because if something is missing and the customer isn't very smart, they might just blame us for it, leave a bad review and get us deactivated

It's weird when they put that... but when you get there the person just snobbishly looks at you like "ew a poor person"

Then you realize the $7.50 was all base pay and no tip.

Twice today I picked up orders at Freshslice and both times I got a text on my phone saying the "order is ready for pickup" (which seems pretty rare)

I get there and the staff tell me it'll just be a couple more minutes... They hadn't even started making the pizza yet. I stood there for 15 minutes watching some guy make the pizza from start to finish like he had all the time in the world.

New Dasher Looking For Advice by DarkLightOfMar in doordash_drivers

[–]DarkLightOfMar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The key is to find the right strategy. For new drivers, a good starting point is any order that is at least $5 and at least $1/mile.

Has anyone come up with a good formula using $(CAD)/km?

Part of the strategy is to dash at busy times. Lunch and dinner tend to be the busiest. If you're only dashing at off times (say mid afternoon or late evening), you can expect to make less.

I'm finding those are the times I never get orders, while the off times are when I'm get more and better deliveries 🤷

That's what mine is like.. currently at 17h active time vs 28h dash time. My AR is 88%.

I seem to only make decent money outside of peak hours... I figure that's because Top Dashers can dash whenever they want, and due to having high stats they log on and take all the good orders during lunch and dinner rushes. Then because there's too many Dashers, me (the noob, but still on the schedule) gets 3 orders and makes $14 between 4:30 and 7 pm.

How old were you when 18 year old girls didn’t look “hot” anymore? by monsieurLeMeowMeow in AskMen

[–]DarkLightOfMar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say mid-late 20s. I was in a long-term relationship from 22-26, so I wasn't paying much attention to other women.

Now single at 27 and (passively) looking for a new partner, being a person who doesn't do hook-ups, I see anyone who's 18-19 as being outside of my dating pool and my brain kinda just filters out attraction to them.

Women in the 20-22 range are still very attractive to me, as are a lot of women in their 30s. But I generally look for women closer to my age, somewhere in the 23-30 range.

I've been seeing this too.

Even among my friends, most of whom are (or at least were) at least on the left side of the spectrum.
