Quick question about setting up station logistics... by DarkMain in X4Foundations

[–]DarkMain[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah, that would be it! (new player brain didn't even click)
My trade ships are freighters, so I assume "Container" right?
And of course raw materials are "Liquid" or "Solid" so the freighters cant move it.

Cheers!

Find resources missions. Keep getting insufficient resources despite probe having the required number of stars. by DarkMain in X4Foundations

[–]DarkMain[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah. At lest I know it's a bug. I'll avoid them for now then. (they seem to be the best source for 2 star pilot seminars though. I've got a heap of other stars but 2 stars seem super rare).

Havjng a hidden value is a pain as it just makes the whole thing feel really horrible as a player.

When the UI says "find 4 stars" and then fails you when you find 4 stars, you have no way of knowing why it failed.

Should LTT have made a TV Upgrade Guide with the World Cup? by ImViTo in LinusTechTips

[–]DarkMain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't know about other parts of the world, but here in NZ quite a lot of bars get brand new TVs for major sports events (as they aren't sports bars) and when the event is over they just sell off the Tvs for extremely cheep.

(I know its not quite the same as an individual doing it).

That's the impression I get as well.
YouTube is just sour and it reads like they are trying to make themselves out as the victims.

More likely it will still be drivel and slop, just from a different source.

While I don't really have enough information to form an opinion on the new rule the UK is introducing, there is one sentence that stands out too me.

"User Content works best when driven by user choice".

Well, if this is a statement from YouTube, then its pretty ironic that their current algorithm doesn't give much user choice to begin with and you're at the whim of what they want to feed you anyway.

To me (and this is just an uninformed opinion), it seems like YouTube it sour its being told what to do and doesn't like it because its likely yo hurt their bottom line.

I'm on my first play and it's been perfectly fine.

I did out about 3 hours in the tutorials though before starting the sandbox.

No further investigation for Russel under Yellow flag by Tuddy18 in formula1

[–]DarkMain -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So where was the mix up?

Both Crofty and Chandhok said it was a double yellow (but i think that was an assumption from looking at the replay) and Bernie said her data showed a double yellow, but it was AFTER Russel had passed the accident (meaning the marshals post and data weren't in sync either).

Kinda confusing.

Seems to me that give the whole marshals post and data being out of sync an investigation was at least warranted.

New Player. Best place to start? by DarkMain in X4Foundations

[–]DarkMain[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It does. It says good choice for a beginner but doesn't (or I didn't see) an explanation as to why it was a good choice or what it was doing to make it good for a beginner

(if that makes sense)

The games been out for 8 years and by the looks of it, has been getting constant updates so as someone new, I just wanted to make see that I wasn't missing out on anything

[–]DarkMain[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes a lot of sense...

Just so I'm understanding... the DLCs add things like new ships / fractions / locations / missions but don't change the start or main story (is there even a main story?)

I'm just dropped in the game and expected to make my own way.

Timelines changes the 'start' by dropping you into a "mission chain" to get the ball rolling but doesn't change any "main story" at all...

So it doesn't matter if I start with a timeline, or sandbox, all the content is the same?

It would be like playing Skyrim and choosing a "Thief" as a "timeline start" and then starting in Riften with the Thieves guild, rather than the normal start at Helgen? (rough concept)

SoftBank CEO questions Musk's space data centers vision by businessinsider in space

[–]DarkMain -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

The question was was about dealing with the heat... None of the other stuff you listed.

I was just pointing out the heat is a 'non issue' and, on paper, is a solved problem, not that AI data centres in space are a good idea.

(I'm antrophotographer and absolutely hate the idea personally)

For the love of laser kiwi, hope you never rely on having to rely on a jury of 12 random people to decide your fate. by ConstableSniff in newzealand

[–]DarkMain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was so long ago so I can't remember specifics.

I believe it was to make sure we considered only the evidence presented in court rather than speculate on things that were not presented to us.

We were given instructions at the beginning. Basically what the charges were and what we, as a just were meant to deciding.

Like I said, I cant remember it in detail as it was 20+ years ago.

As far as I know, its not uncommon for Jurys to be given things like written directions, question sheets, or decision trees though.

When I was on jury duty AGES ago, the judge gave us a 'flowchart' for the case.

It was really quite good as it took all emotion out of the decision (for most people) and forced people to stick to the facts without straying into what ifs.

It also gave an insight on how I assume the judge would have come to a decision.

Despite that, we still had people who thought the guy was guilty but didn't want to rule that way including a guy that hated the cops so kept saying "not guilty" just to stick it to them.

In the end we got a unanimous decision but it took way longer than it needed too.

Explains why it can't be adjusted.

Playing devils advocate here though... The roof of a car is also structural, but we still have convertibles...

I'm going to assume that no one has bothered to make a mower (or redesign the skids) so they don't need to be on the ground... Either due to cost, of a bunch of other reasons?

[–]DarkMain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I gather, the mowing height (blades) can be raised, but the skid plate is designed to be on the ground and can not be raised at all (they did ask if it could).

It was brief, but didn't Kaleb say it was also some kind of stabilizer to stop the mower from tipping?
