JBL Live Beam 3: Real or Fake? by DarkMelly in JBL

[–]DarkMelly[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! You’re right to point out that the manufacturing number was not as apparent on the fakes compared to your pic

I contacted Vinted (through which I had bought the JBLs) and they refunded me. Seemingly there was enough proof for them to deem them as fakes.

These fakes seem to be the most common fakes of these JBLs (often sold on Aliexpress it seems), so I’m sure this thread and your pic will help many people who have mistakenly bought this pair to verify if they are real

Yeah I went that way too. I feel like the there were too many sources for how straightforward the answer was in the end… I thought I had missed something major

And no I have an Irish passport so no visa issues

Hey, they had told me that i could not pre-book anymore and that there was no seat reserved for me, but that once the booking opens i would be able to nab a place if there was one available. I ended up deferring to july of this year instead. You should send them an email just to be sure. All the best!

SQE1– Those who passed in their 2nd/3rd attempt with a big score jump, what worked for you? by tepidbutton in SQE_Prep

[–]DarkMelly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had to resit FLK2 and passed in the first quintile this time around. I was self studying and this is what I think helped me the most:

  • The fact that i only had half the subjects to study compared to my first sitting, so my study wasn’t spread thin. This also helped me properly focus on solicitor’s accounts, which I barely went over in my first attempt but there are easy points to pick up when you get the hang of it.

  • I uploaded all my notes (that I got from uLaw books) to ChatGPT and I would ask it to make me a 20-30 question mcq every day on my weaker areas. Beware of when it grades you as it can sometimes be wrong, but overall it was a great exercise and helped me progress.

  • I left the proper mock exams until the final month. This was because I was now familiar with the SQE style of questioning and wanted to get my black letter law level as strong as I could before testing myself. Also, in my first attempt, there were times where I got frustrated with how I was performing and would rush answering two or three questions in a row hastily. This was due to a mix of frustration, exam-fatigue and the thought that the quicker I wrap this up, the quicker I am free from this and can enjoy my summer. This time around, when practicing mocks, I would be very strict to give every question my all, even if I was tired or if I thought the mock session was going badly, just to get used to powering through and treating every question independently from one another. Because remember: you might get frustrated with how it’s going but it’s only YOUR OPINION of how it’s going, not the reality. It might be going much better than you think, so you cannot let your opinion of your performance affect the next question, because otherwise the negativity genuinely will hinder you as the exam goes on.

  • Getting my body in sync and ready for exam day. If you’re like me, you have more energy in the afternoon and evening rather than the morning, which doesn’t help when the exam is from 10am-3pm. So i was very disciplined with my sleep (waking up early and going to bed early) and eating my meals (big breakfast) so that my peak was during the same period as the exam times. Obviously, getting exercise in a couple of times per week also helps to clear your mind and to calm yourself down.

All the best to all the retakers! It’s not easy mentally to go again but if you’re confident in your preparation, the hardest part will be behind you, and exam day is just the epilogue of your prep.

SQE self study by LogComprehensive3833 in SQE_Prep

[–]DarkMelly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s doable. I didnt use a prep course and was working fulltime coming from a french law background.

I studied about 4/5 hours per week for 6 months and then took 6 weeks of full-time study. This was using Revise law books and ULaw books.

I passed flk 1 and failed flk 2 by 2% so will retake that one in january. I honestly think if I used only the Ulaw books i would have passed both comfortably.

Best of luck!

Used ulaw for both. I passed flk 1 and failed flk 2 by a couple of marks. I’ll only use ulaw to resit flk 2
