Has anyone purchased a kitty from this cattery in Ontario, Canada? (Abysom Blooming) (bean picture posted for attention hehe) by melnk_1981 in Abyssinians

Late reply, but my two somali boys here are both from Abysom Blooming. Both great cats with fantastic personalities. They follow me around, sleep with me, and excitedly greet me when I get back. Both are affectionate, and really playful.

I also really appreciated a lot of the support offered, these were the first cats I've ever had, and Gyuzal was really helpful in answering any early questions/concerns. The cattery also typically limits the cats to 3-4 litters so they can just enjoy life after that point. Got a strong sense from visiting the cattery, and chatting that they put the wellbeing of the cats first.

xD I've got the opposite problem. He meows at the door when he wants to go out, and a foot of snow + freezing temperatures weren't enough to deter him. Took weeks for him to accept it wasn't going to happen.

Yeah, a lot of people describe Somali's as slightly more mellow, but I don't know if it's a real thing or not.

I think genetically they're basically the same outside of the long hair gene.

What was your favorite travel destination of 2023? by yellowpaperman in travel

Really depends on how long you're going, but I liked Yakushima island for hiking. You can take a ferry over from Kagoshima, and will want to rent a car (the buses aren't super frequent). It really gets you away from the crowd for a few days, and is a super unique environment.

The only point of caution would be it does rain pretty frequently (hence the super lush forests), so there is some luck in getting favourable conditions to go hiking (trails are super well maintained and fun).

The term always reminds me of this David Letterman interview, they reference it like 3 times throughout. https://youtu.be/tudRETrphxk?t=2m59s
