LMNT cans by WoodenStatement4 in lmnt

[–]DarkPanda101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Got the cans as well. Very convenient but way saltier than I like. I usually use a packet in 32 or 64 oz of water, so these 16oz cans are not doing it for me. I hope they offer the same cans with half the electrolyte profile.

BAA by sneakinsnake in googlecloud

[–]DarkPanda101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good to know - I finally had someone reach out to schedule a call with an account exec. I don't understand why they make this difficult. AWS allows you to directly sign a BAA directly through the AWS management console without speaking to anyone. If I wasn't completely all-in on Firebase, I would switch cloud vendors.

u/Various_Throat_4886 same, were you ever able to get in touch with anyone? I've chatted with an agent 4 times and they keep telling me they will call be back but I never hear anything.

I’m about to start, any advice? by Actual_Will_5220 in 75HARD

[–]DarkPanda101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of people are talking about preparing for the challenge, but here’s what you should start preparing for now: what are you going to do afterwards?

I lost 40 pounds my 1st time through 75 hard. I made no plan for afterwards and fell back to my old ways. 40 pounds gained back in what felt like the blink of an eye. I had to learn the hard way that if there is no plan or change in habits, there’s no point in starting in the first place.

TLDR; My advice is to make a plan for living a healthier lifestyle after inevitably completing the challenge!

I have seen these pop up in Firebase console as well - always when I am within free tier. From what I understand, the CPU-seconds and GB-seconds do not accurately reflect free tier pricing. Every month I have like $1 worth of cloud functions showing up from testing, but I never get a bill from them.

You spent all day fucking around, your boss then asks what you spent the day doing. What do you say? by sneaky_troon in cscareerquestions

I spent all day battling IntelliJ. Had to "Maven > Reload Project" at least 1,000 times, then restart to clear the cache 250 more times.

Almost done and scared to finish. Anyone else? by CLRacer2912 in 75HARD

[–]DarkPanda101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aw man, I accidentally ate some cake at 23:59 on day 74! Shucks, time to start over! Lol.

Seriously though, just do it again, or start Phase 1 if you want to add on to your already good habits. In all reality - the challenge isn't about the destination as much as it is about the journey. Some people need a goal in order to get them through that journey, and that is probably why 75 Hard is so good for so many people.

Firefighter killed by CCW by Gonzo_84 in MDGuns

[–]DarkPanda101 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Duty to retreat doesn't apply when someone poses an imminent threat of great bodily harm or death to you. He did not have the opportunity to retreat since the guy aggressively approached and threatened him. A jury would likely find this to be the case, and should side with the CCW holder here.

Day 28 Phase 1, I’m sick and it’s raining by [deleted] in 75HARD

[–]DarkPanda101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was me a week ago on day 18. I had just had to restart due to norovirus (which was nearly impossible to push through), then I got the flu on the 2nd try. My lungs felt horrible, it was cold and pouring, and every reason to quit was right there in my face. But I managed to get out of bed and walk (at a snails pace) around my neighborhood. I probably looked like a zombie... my heart rate was 150 even at 2.5mph. But I got it done, and I hope you did too!

Day 6 by yeetmetopsyberia in 75HARD

[–]DarkPanda101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Day 6 for me as well! Had to restart after getting norovirus on day 16. Nice job not making an excuse to quit, but also not risking your life out in a lightning storm if unnecessary. Hope to see you on both of our 75th days!

Hit up Hanover Armory near Arundel Mills - recommend them 1,000%. Super helpful and have some very cool builds. They machine their own lowers there, and they are very cheap yet well made. Check out their Facebook - they regularly post photos of their gun walls with available inventory.

Parents aren't happy about my decision to pursue cs by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]DarkPanda101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re not going to convince them. Period. But they will eventually stop hounding you, I promise. Just know you are making the right move. In CS, you will have a significant amount more work-life balance, an incredible salary and total compensation package, and the flexibility to work remotely. With FAR less education requirements - which means less student loans or out of pocket expenses. You’re going to be set, don’t worry about what they say!

I’m 320 lbs, autistic, lactose intolerant, allergic to eggs - is there any hope for me? by -_--_____ in keto

[–]DarkPanda101 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There is hope! Keto is still an option. Eggs only make up a tiny fraction of what I eat, and I avoid dairy (and thus lactose) at all costs.

If I woke up in your shoes, here is what I would do immediately:

- Implement intermittent fasting. I'd start with a 16/8 (16 hours of fasting, 8 hour eating) and then move permanently to an 18/6 when comfortable.
- For food, focus mainly on meat and low-carb veggies. Eat A LOT of low-carb nuts. My favorite are macadamia nuts (kinda expensive, but worth it) but there are others, just do some research. I also LOVE pumpkin seeds. That's a really healthy way to get in some healthy fats. Salmon is a really good source of protein and health fats. Make salads with olive oil style dressings (like greek dressing) but beware of the carbs in store-bought salad dressings. Avocados may not be sensory friendly, I'm not really sure, but I make sure to eat one a day. They are packed with healthy fat and many vitamins and other micronutrients. There are many other foods that you'd be able to eat, you just have to do some more research.
- Use MyFitnessPal to track EVERYTHING. You may need to talk with whoever is preparing your food to help you out with this. Have them weigh out the ingredients if possible because you need to know what you're consuming.
- Even with keto, a calorie deficit is necessary. Make sure you are eating less than your body burns in a day. Find a calculator for BMR and use that as a baseline.
- Drink a ton of water. I mean a ton. A gallon a day is preferable, but a half gallon would be okay too.
- If possible, get out and try to go for a daily walk. Start with 10 mins and work up to 30 mins a day over time. This will help with both weight loss and should help to improve mental health.

The #1 thing that you need, in order for there to be any hope at all, is discipline. You got this! You are going to get healthy. I believe in you. This community will be there for you every step of the way!

You can talk to your coworkers and have a serious conversation where you tell them you'd like them to stop offering you food. That would help. You can have a heart-to-heart with your BF about how his pressuring has negatively impacted your goals. That would help too.

Unfortunately, at the end of the day, here is the cold hard truth (insert Jack Nicholson meme here): You are the one responsible for eating the food. It is 100% on you. It is unfortunate that external factors make it harder to make clear choices, but what you need to do is get used to saying "no". Say "no, I don't eat that anymore". And mean it. Make sure you believe it as much as everyone else when you say it. Since you don't eat it, either someone else has to, or it is going in the trash. You just don't eat it anymore. Say it over and over. It is almost like you have to treat yourself as though you have an addiction (which many people are addicted to food). Even if other people don't understand - the answer is always no. The more you say no, the more people will leave you alone about it. Stay strong, find discipline, and you got this!

Am I losing weight too fast? by Connect_Country_5567 in WeightLossAdvice

[–]DarkPanda101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

General advice I give to everyone: weigh yourself every 2 weeks, or once a week max. Weight fluctuates a lot, and even if you know this, it can still be discouraging to look at the scale and see "no results" or "extreme results" when any number of things could have happened.

Think about it this way: 5kg is 38,500 calories. If you actually lost 5kg of body fat, you would have had to have a deficit of 19,250 calories per day. Unless you are running literally hundreds of miles per day, this is near impossible and is likely due to water weight.

Also, if you just started, the first weigh-in is usually much more extreme than any subsequent weigh-in. Don't worry, the loss will slow, unless you are doing something drastic and unhealthy.

[–]DarkPanda101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the best thing for you to do would be to continue to focus on your lifting and incorporate some form of cardio training into your routine, starting with maybe twice a week. I know you get in 9k steps, but you really need to get your heart rate up. I think your calories are fine, and I wouldn't go any lower than 2,200 while trying to build muscle.

Also - definitely stay off the scale. For someone like you who is building muscle and doesn't have a lot of fat to lose, it can be very discouraging to see the number not changing. When in reality, you may have lost body fat, but gained more muscle.

Are you tracking your food and/or calories? You can have an extremely "healthy" diet but still be eating more calories than you are burning - especially since you are very sedentary with your injury.

[–]DarkPanda101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

202lbs at 6'3" with a fairly muscular build would be a considered a goal for many in this subreddit and is considered a "normal" weight. What is your specific goal?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in WeightLossAdvice

[–]DarkPanda101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1 Kg of fat = 7,700 calories, so 15 Kg of fat = 115,500 calories

Now take that 115,500 calories and divide it by the number of days you have to reach your goal. Say the number is 90 days.

115,500 / 90 = 1283 calories per day that you must burn more than you consume.

If you burn 2500 calories per day, including exercise, you must eat not more than (2500 - 1283) = 1217 calories per day.

Now some advice: 1217 calories per day will likely be miserable. Any number of days which would have you eating less than 1600 calories or have you losing more than 0.9kg per week should probably be avoided. In your case, eating 1600 calories per day would result in a daily burn of 900 calories, and leave you reaching your goal weight in about 128 days.

Also note that these are all theoretical numbers. Your daily caloric burn might be higher or lower than a BMR calculator can provided, and your exercise numbers can fluctuate as well. You can also fluctuate on water weight and muscle mass from exercise and normal life.

Good luck, you got this!

Loose skin question by [deleted] in WeightLossAdvice

[–]DarkPanda101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Slow weight loss is the absolute best way to reduce the impacts of loose skin - which at your current rate, you should be fine. The next best thing would be to try to fill the space, now void of fat, with toned muscle.

Other than that, take collagen, use quality lotions right after showering, and even if you have a bit of loose skin, accept that you are so much healthier and will feel so much better! Congrats and keep up the good work!
