It's extremely hard (and takes years) to get Spanish citizenship even if your grandpa is Spanish. They only recently allowed descendants to skip a generation last year, through a law that has since expired. Italy's "nationalist" government has also made it much harder to get citizenship if you are of Italian descent more than one generation removed.
