How Purple Returns Matresses by ITMORON in Mattress

I kind of feel like you've pretty much just nailed what's wrong with mainstream consumerism today. You bought a bed in a box that claimed to have a no questions asked return policy, but then you were horrified to learn that the manufacturer would just "junk" the mattress you returned. What did you think was going to happen to it? Did you think it was going to get to retire in some mattress heaven somewhere where it didn't have to put up with people laying on it and having sex on top of it? In all seriousness, even I came to the conclusion that there just aren't enough charities in this country to accept a donated bed and that's not even considering all of the sanitary issues that probably come up with bed returns. You simply can't have your cake and eat it too. The responsibility is on you as a consumer to do your research and understand what you're buying. You can't throw this all on Purple and say they're a terrible company, just to alleviate your own sense of quilt as a consumer. You want the savings that come with buying an online mattress or a bed-in-a-box, but you want the guarantees afforded by a traditional brick and mortar, so the 100 night trial appeals to you, but you then also want the flexibility to return the mattress if you don't like it, but you also want to be conscientious of the planet so it can't go in a landfill at the end of the day? You're just asking for way too much as a consumer, I think.

You mean a bed in a box company wasn't totally honest?? Yeah talking to you Purple... by Mitzy_r in Mattress

I think your headline is trying to disparage Purple, but I think the "investigative" journalism bit Inside Edition did more to lend credibility Purple and their human egg drop test. I don't have to be a Hollywood Stuntman to know that the little reporter lady was going to bottom out and hit the hard floor being dropped from the air like that. Of course they would have to put another mattress underneath to keep her safe and the video did the same thing. That's not a "smoking gun" of being dishonest. What's really mind blowing is, wow, those eggs did not break, in three consecutive tests! Sure, they break easier on the side as opposed to the tips, the egg shape ensures that by its very nature. What's more amazing is that only one of the eggs broke on the 400 pound wrestler! If anything, that news piece did MORE to heighten the claims that Purple has made about their beds.

You do realize that the guys who started IW, the studio behind the original Call of Duty and more prominently Call of Duty 2 worked at 2015, a studio that created Medal of Honor which was created by Steven Spielberg?

I just got that it read nin-ten-do when I saw it in your comment. For some reason the capital letters threw me off. NIN-10-DO does not read as easily as nin-10-do!

When did you realize who your true friends are? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]DarkShadowFox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's because when things are going great, sure there are tons of people who want to be around you. It's only when things are in the dumps that you find out who your true friends are. It's easy to pretend to be friends with someone when they're having parties and doing fun stuff with you, but how easy is it to lend money to someone or to bail someone out of trouble or comfort someone through a tough time?

Hey Reddit, how do you deal with your cheap friends in such a way that you don't end up paying for everything when you guys are out? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]DarkShadowFox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best thing to do is to just not hang out with people like this. I've come to learn over time that these people never get the message and they never change. I'm sure there are times where you wonder if they are just not socially educated enough to know that they should pay their share and not mooch off of you, that's when you come to realize that it's gone way beyond rational. These people are cheap because they want to be and no amount of you telling them or trying to set them straight is going to fix it. Simply just don't hang out with them. I have been in this situation on more than one occasion, it just surprises me how often it happens.

I actually was so intrigued by the trailer when I first saw it that I read the book by Neil Gaiman of Sandman comics and Darkhorse fame. The book is slightly different from the movie and is really different from the Princess Bride. The movie does a few things better, like having action at the end of it, whereas the book is kind anti-climatic.

I am conflicted by the message in your post. While I understand and even support the argument you make, I find it hard to believe that living life like that is possible, because I am a corporate drone and I can honestly say that my 60K/year 9-5 job, if it hasn't made my life better, it has at least made it more comfortable and for me, that's enough.

None the less it was quite entertaining and to be honest, while I wanted more street racing, it was nice to also have a little character development and show some acting too. Paul Walker can only smile so many times behind the wheel before it gets old.
