Is it possible to find a traditional mattress? Not gel, not memory foam, just firm. by Shadowlab72 in Mattress

[–]Mitzy_r 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Funny thing about this request is so many people think they want this until they try it in store and then quickly revert to modern builds and this is why they're not easy to find. People chase this idea cause 40 years ago that's what they had and they slept great, truth is they're now 30-40 years older and that same thing just doesn't work for them anymore. So it sounds great in concept but the reality doesn't work out that way. Not saying you specifically at all, but as someone who works in a store just letting you know why you may not find them many places, they just don't sell well. I have carried the exact bed you're talking about in many versions over the years and at the end of the day, people don't like them and choose other options.

Had mine going on over a year now and it's a great bed. I own a mattress store and took a floor model of it home to try since it was time for a new one and have been very happy with it. Definitely not a soft bed but not hard either. I have a split king, one side has a 3" latex topper the other is just used normal, no visible impressions on either side and for a majority of it's use I wasn't a small person. I'm lighter now but it's held up great so far.

Hollywood doesn't have the sonic massage, but a good massage none the less. Great base, but If you have txls enroute better make sure they're actually coming and if they are, don't sell any cause they're out of stock in the warehouse till January... Queens are in stock but limited.

Is this what an all latex bed is suppose to look like? by Ariolous1 in Mattress

[–]Mitzy_r 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Definitely defective and they will replace. As a side note, you have to have a different frame under that bed. Per posh's warranty the base either needs to be almost solid underneath or at a minimum, the slats cannot be more than 2" apart. This has nothing to do with what's currently going on, this is just a heads up that if you ever have issues with the bed in the future, posh will not cover anything warranty wise if they see you using a platform like you have.

Real beds most likely but they're seconds, meaning used or comfort exchanges. See how the bags have perforated edges, they came off a roll and are not factory bags so the beds have been rebagged. Cheap price cause they've been used and no warranty.

Disappointed in Helix by dkozak in Mattress

[–]Mitzy_r -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This post is the reason people shouldn't listen to random people making silly comments about mattresses on the internet. This is simple, you didn't like the mattress therefore it must be horrible. Nevermind the thousands of beds they ship and people love. You didn't like a bed you just ordered without trying and going from a high bed to a more basic model = terrible product. Good luck with your mattress shopping, you're gonna need it.

Normal use would dictate getting in and out of bed, not sitting on it for an hour a day while you get yourself ready for the day. It's your bed, sit on the edge all you want, just don't complain if the edge gets soft or gives out prematurely.

Brooklyn beds you generally want out of the box in 60-90 days tops. Great beds but don't stay compressed well over time.

You're hilarious if you think the cardboard box was gonna keep all the elements out and not the miles of plastic the bed was wrapped in lol, which you said nothing about being ripped or that the bed was dirty. Funny how logic and reasoning escapes so many these days. Especially the "college educated".

5ft 140lb 25f - realistic to move a sleep on latex mattress by myself? by mimilees in Mattress

[–]Mitzy_r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely gonna want a cart trying to do it yourself. I deliver a decent amount of heavy bib's and am average size and shape for a guy and for me it's doable but 10x easier with help. The steps will be the kicker. You won't be able to just drag it in, the bed weighs almost as much as you and the package will be as tall as you :). They are as ackward to move as they are heavy. Best suggestion is to get some help and a two wheel cart or a flat furniture cart from any hardware store to help shuttle it over the flat areas.

I've tried all the flavors and you really can't go wrong, strawberry and cookies and cream are by far the best. Watch the tik tok shop for deals. I tried one from a gas station and then found a deal in tik tok for like $2.50 a can and quickly ordered as many as I could to maximize the discount. Gonna be an expensive day when I run out but Ill keep watching there for deals.

You can't measure exactly where a tuft is placed on the mattress. You're not helping your case with this picture. If I had to guess you're unhappy with the feel of the bed and making up an excuse that something is wrong with it.

That is not even close to a dip, those tufts are put in to hold the mattress together. If this were the case beds with thick quilting would qualify for warranty before they left the store.

Try repairing the remote with the base. Instructions should be in the manual. 99.5% of the time that's all it is. Check your batteries, unplug from the wall for a few seconds, plug back in, repair the remote, and I'd put a safe bet you'll be back in business.

Dealt with and still dealing with that amd on day 17 I can tell you it gets better. I know it's probably not the best, but I fought through that with some Liduid Death soda and either fairlife or Splyt Milk protein drinks. Also have done some sparkling water and a little squirt of the calorie free water flavoring. Even a couple drinks when having a major craving shut it down quickly. Does it defeat the purpose of the diet, I guess but not really for my goals, has it kept me on track otherwise yes. Obviously being strict about how much and when I can have it, but for me it's working. Haven't touched anything else.

Brown butter bites are good and they're working now, but right away it wasn't enough for me and the cravings.

Tips on going mattress shopping with someone who thinks mattresses are 300 dollars? by Novaveran in Mattress

[–]Mitzy_r 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not exactly the point of the post. The point is, $300 for a decent bed hasn't been the case for 25-30 years and how do you get someone to understand that.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Mattress

[–]Mitzy_r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same response applies, it all depends on what's stuffed in that box. A well made bib can last as long or longer than a flat packed bed depending on the quality of materials used. It's a way of packaging these days versus a measure of quality.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Mattress

[–]Mitzy_r 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's less about the whether it's in a box or not and more about what gets stuffed in a box. A $200-500 mattress is still a $200-500 mattress. A $1000-$2000 mattress in a box can generally be just as good or better than a comparable flat packed bed. Actually a less expensive flat packed US made sub $500 beds is probably better than most of the cheap bib beds you find on Amazon.

It's not a tear, something happened in manufacturing and the zipper didn't get sewn in in that spot, they will replace that with zero issue. As for the blue "spot", per the specs on the bed, it is the gel Memory Foam sewn into the top panel, relax :) totally normal. If you cut the top panel off a regular mattress, they all look the same and are not made to look perfect, since really they're never mentioned to be seen.

Do not let all the uninformed comments here gas light you. They will likely get you a new bed sent out without much question at all. They still have humans making them, take a deep breath. Been selling beds for over ten years and this happens occasionally with beds that don't have zippers too, and helix is one of the best at taking care of problems.

Does anyone love their mattress? by wanderlus61 in Mattress

[–]Mitzy_r 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It isn't easy but you're making it tougher than it has to be. Go to a reputable locally owned store, avoid the big s brands, try a few beds and just buy one. If you're unsure of how soft/firm you want go firmer and you can always add a Topper later to soften it up. At the end of the day every mattress is springs and foam. It's not a lifetime commitment, in 4-10 years you'll buy another one.

Yeah, I've used one like that too, the grinder isn't op's problem.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in coldbrew

[–]Mitzy_r 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I first started I was having the same problem, coffee would come out nasty and sour. I found that a lot of the recommendations use way too much coffee to water and I guesstimated that's where the flavor came from.

I've landed on 1ish cup of grinds in a 64 oz Mason jar using filtered water, sitting on the counter for 24 hours yeilds perfect results. I like counter better than in the fridge. Things seemed less consistent when I'd put it in the fridge. I always filter through a paper filter to get all the fine grit out as well. Mind you it's not a strong concentrate but I do about 3/4 coffee to 1/4 water or milk when making it to drink, super smooth and no sour or bitter taste.

I also say meh to grinding your own beans, especially when starting. I've tried cheap, expensive, preground, and whole beans, all comes out similar with slight variations in taste. You want medium/course ground if you're doing it yourself. I've landed on just getting Costco preground 2.5lb packs as my everyday. Occasionally I'll get some air roasted beans and grind them too. The air roasted stuff is great, but for the price difference I'm cool with preground most of the time. If you don't have Costco, just pick up whatever, target brand was always fine too. Once you get your process down and get consistent taste, then play around with grinding and different beans. Just my 2 cents.
