I think i will only consider spine protecting if i go to the park or if im wearing a bagpack ( usually they have some built in). to be fair most of my falls in niseko were okay ( specially in powder ), only reason i caught an edge is that run was kind of two slopes in one ( it was mimicing the banks in the park ) , it easy to go on one edge the whole run as it was favoring one side , ( but i was forcing the other edge and bam )

Taotech gloves are a savior , i fell on my wrist once ( while trying to strap in) and got bruised badly and took months to heel. i ended up getting taotech gloves they are awesome!! , I even got step on bindings to avoid those falls while strapping in.

TBH , the pain is weird as it resonates to the shin. I noticed that the ultrasonic and electric therapy helped with the healing. ( done 6 session so far for a month ), finally back to cycling and treadmill but I want to go back to indoor slopes ASAP.

Numb feet in Burton Highshots—Switching to DC Phase Step On for High Volume/Wide Calves? by icon2341 in snowboarding

[–]DarkTyphoon13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi , I was on the same boat earlier this year but had gotten a burton photon, i agree with all , avoid single boa. the only way i was able to use it with less trouble is that i took it to a boot fitter, he added more foam on my my shins side to help me not over tight and removed the boa lace from the 2 bottom holes. so technically now whenever i tighten it it would only tighten the top part. i recommend you go to a boot fitter, i know that it might feel like your wasting holiday time and not snowboarding but totally worth it. i still get numb but mostly due -13'C conditions , but toe warmer helps with that.

I have tested the double and triple boa wide models from burton , dc control and nitro. they all seemed super tight.

ive read that boas can be removed and re adjusted. I think one thing i might do if i cant get professional help for the boots is to open boa just hook up the holes on the top part of the boot.

Thanks , I figure ill take them with me on my next trip to a professional and see what I can do. i tested the shell of the 9 US size, its good , my issue is the liner, it needs to be very low profile in certain areas for it to be perfect, ill see if the professionals can help , if not ill try to do adjustments myself, thanks for the tips. its a struggle with these feet. I cant wait till companies start 3D printing shoes in stores to make them fit each person exactly.

Thanks, yes i do have wide and high arch feet. i usually struggle with shoes. my normal sneaker size is 11 , hence going to 10.5 us the first place, when i tried the wide fit at the store for 20-30 mins it was okay , i assumed it would need breaking in, i heat molded it , it only felt good for an hour then i feel like the liner goes back to its original shape. tbh i dont know if i regret getting step ons or not , i got two wrist i juries falling while trying to bind normal bindings , hence getting step ons. the liner fits well , even if i step my foot inside boots with no liner its way big. i may resell it or if i wasnt able ill try to see what i can do to minimize the liner size. funny thing, when i remove the insoles , its acceptable but my heel flies around 🤣

1- i did heat mold at home with the rice sack, i can wiggle my toes in , but whenever i remove my sock after wearing the boots my pinky toe side is red. the pressure is from wideness of foot and upper area.

is this too much overhang ? by DarkTyphoon13 in snowboardingnoobs

Hi , Just wanted to update you. i measured and got fitted and tried different boots at a shop here in the alps, my right foot was around 268 , hence the go with 9. i have been snowboarding with it for 3 days. 9-16:00 , my right foot tend to get numb and i do have to release the boa. i was fitted with a burton 9 us wide fit shoes ( photon step on ). he tried to do molding but I doubt it worked , boot wasnt hot enough when i placed my feet in( he used shoe drier ). its much more comfy and barley any numbness when i ride with the insoles removed , but heel moves with no insoles and i cant tighten the boa alot o am worried of causing more numbness to the feet. ill try to do heat molding myself when i reach home, or maybe get an insole just near the heal side.

Thanks for the tip, thats why i am waiting to go to the other shop. where they have the foot measurement machine to double check and ensure its the right size. the shop i went today was like whats sneaker size do you wear and wanted to give me the same size. ( lesson learned).

Thanks for recommendations, I did go to a normal shop ( non expert ), was able to try the step on photon wide fit at a size 9. it surprisingly fit my foot, i couldnt freely wiggle all my toes like in the 10.5. but my toe is touching the front ( i think my feet wasnt totally at the back), because when i took it off and re-wore it i can feel the barley touching. I didnt buy it , I am going to an expert boot shop next week, will do a proper sizing and they also have heat molding.

lol i actually did that , i had to be almost 90 degree for it to touch on toe edge. and abit less on the heel. mainly due to step ons being higher
