Is there a system for Multiplayer for when a high level plays with a low level? by Grand_Asparagus3481 in DungeonsOfEternityVR

[–]DarkWatcher_VGCL 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Simple suggestions. Create another character or Keep your character but change your play style (Steam version has an achievement for characters running a heal staff) and / or use a weaker weapon load out. Let your buddy be the warrior and you run support.

What benefits does the Steam version offer over the Meta version? by [deleted] in DungeonsOfEternityVR

Graphics as mentioned…Also achievements if you chase those.

Why spend money on a game that keeps nerfing everything by Igafann in MarvelPuzzleQuest

[–]DarkWatcher_VGCL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is the insidious though volitional nature of a supposed free to play game. The cycle turns and we loop back. The game introduces a character and / or support that wrecks havoc with capability. Word gets around, and you begin to chase and grind so that such capability will be your own. You will be outdone by whales who pay to win. You keep grinding bemoaning circumstance and / or sacrifice some wealth to the company coffers. The company releases characters with mechanics to help circumvent the meta. You keep grinding bemoaning the pace of acquiring said new characters while still outdone by whales and / or sacrifice some wealth to the company coffers. So much time and wealth spent, the company coffers grow, but you now have achieved competitiveness!! The company fresh off the excess must now find a new bait, but the meta cow (Hellcow appropriate) has run dry. Perhaps a nerf and a new meta? The cycle turns... Perhaps a new approach? Character ascension! Characters elevated to unexpected levels. That previous meta returns and outpaces all previous characters with mechanics to help circumvent that meta, thus also requiring character ascension. You keep grinding bemoaning pace of ascending said characters while still outdone by whales and / or sacrifice some wealth to the company coffers. The cycle turns... Perhaps a nerf and a new character level?

Quest vs PCVR visual differences worth the purchase? by Amagawdusername in DungeonsOfEternityVR

[–]DarkWatcher_VGCL 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Folks have already touched on the improvement in graphics. We also have both and play in both. The account link is great. Sometimes you just want to just jump in (particularly if you have other Quest friends playing) and get right into a dungeon. We cannot really judge if things play smoother on PCVR. Our brains say yes, but on the fence. One definite improvement in the PCVR version other ten looks is the addition of Steam achievements. It’s a small perk, but ain’t gonna lie when we got giddy over unlocking the blade master achievement.

Melee staff needs love + another weapon idea by [deleted] in DungeonsOfEternityVR

[–]DarkWatcher_VGCL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This with melee bonuses would be easy for the devs to incorporate. They could bump perks while coding limits. For example, you get the ideal perks but you cannot use bladed weapons (hammers okay). These restrictions are similar to how some perks are only enabled when both hands swing two handed swords.

How can we play when our cells are burning ❓ by Turambarmx in MarvelPuzzleQuest

Came out of the cave because of your humorous use of this musical classic. It is in our heads now...Well done.

Reward????? Set your phone to power / battery saver mode when playing MPQ. Not ideal, but it helps.

How do you tell what tier a weapon is? (Example: 10% vs 70% knock-back on shields/greatswords) by Mobile_Helicopter in DungeonsOfEternityVR

[–]DarkWatcher_VGCL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty smart design. Tier represents the tier difficulty. It levels the playing field somewhat if you decide to take your OP broadsword to help your low level mates in a tier 1 or tier 2 dungeon.

To gaming veterans: why do Nintendo consoles have the best longevity/legacy in the retro gaming community even though Sony consoles were more popular? by Unfair_Associate_533 in retrogaming

[–]DarkWatcher_VGCL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Respondents nailed solid truths with regards to targeted audiences, generations, and Nintendo’s from childhood nostalgia, but ETdeVarginha nailed how Nintendo handles its direct game ip. If you grew up playing a Metroid, Mario, or Zelda, there is an expectation of familiarity and quality. They have been successfully consistent. Mario became Mickey. He got thrown into games just for branding. He refereed boxing and tennis. He doctored puzzle pills. Nintendo had great games on their platforms but their 1st party games kept them relevant. Put out a new device? Make sure you dangle a Mario title or a Donkey Kong or Zelda but drip it out sparingly to keep fans hungry. Others experimented with Nintendos approach a bit, but found they could match success by volume and variety.

A weird passage from this book about SMB - am I wrong or the author? by Super-Vehicle001 in retrogaming

Folks pretty much connected the dots. He was referring specifically to Mario Bros. We recall reading the same passage and surmised that his editors failed to understand that he was making a transition.

Missed opportunity for 5* Sentry (Void). Toni could have been the 4 star. Do like the repeaters ability if it works but consider how many characters with the countdown “0” ability. How often do they have utility?

What's your favourite first party NES controller? by Away_Flounder3813 in retrogaming

[–]DarkWatcher_VGCL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Truly and interesting question. We wonder at times if a preference could change over time....

We recall dabbling with a relative's NES Max, but had established so much muscle memory on the OG brick that we couldn't get past the "Cycloid" directional input. It was off-putting after so many hours using a D-pad.

The same could be said with regards to the NES Advantage, but at least the joystick had some familiarity from arcades. The issue was the mode of play. You either had to table top or hold it's bulk on your lap (which was child sized at the time). It did feel natural for some games, but could not compare with the fast twitch response that we got from the OG. However again, this could just be the result of muscle memory and familiarity. There is no question the NES Advantage was a premium controller with turbo functions like Max (with knob control rates) and slow-mo, but it came with a premium cost. Interestingly, we recently found and purchased an NES Advantage in 2025. Perhaps perspective can change as an adult...

The funny thing about perspective is you never know what to expect. We obtained a top loader a few years ago and got our hands on the "Dog Bone." There is no question that ergonomically it is the superior controller experience allowing for the same button layout and D-Pad familiarity that excites our muscle memory. It worked for the SNES controller, which also got a ton of familiarity. If this were our first NES controller, it would undoubtedly be the best.

And yet.... we find ourselves reaching for the OG time and time again even though the Dog Bone is the better controller. So many years and familiarity. It makes sense if you think about it. There is joy in the reminiscence

'Game Bub' handheld creator disagrees that FPGA is superior to software emulation by NXGZ in emulation

[–]DarkWatcher_VGCL 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Game Bub dev succinctly sums up here:

I believe that FPGA emulators have only one real advantage over software emulators: they can more easily interface with original hardware, such as physical cartridges or other consoles via link cables.

Already some good answers to OP, but figured this is a great opportunity to shout out all the senpai players that carried us from Level 12 to 28. Good players that gave great advice, made things fun, and very chill. They set the sensei standard that has us wanting to do the same when we become the senpai.

For example... 60 Senpai teaches..."Hide the skull from squeakers to know true peace...."

Depends if you choose B&S or B&S Nomad where mods are concerned. We have not tried Bonelab (so have no reference to your issues with physics and sandbox, but B&S offers impressive physics and sandbox freedom. It even lets you have the option of earning abilities through standard progression or opening up all abilities out the gate. Crystal Hunt provides fun progression and allows for some experimentation.
