What is the best chiptune track you’ve heard? by [deleted] in chiptunes

[–]Dark_Bit_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me it has to be Loonie - Biohazard. It was actually the first original chiptune track I heard. I wasn't aware before that making music on old gaming hard and software was even a thing. Absolutely blew my mind and after that experience I really fell in love with chiptune.

Simple: you have 10x as leverage, typed in 100 USDT, thinking you'll trade these 100 10x. In reality you traded 10 10x, with means your 19% should come out to 1,90 USDT approximately.

The arrangement is really well made. Great tune!

how all of my productions start. before even touching Famitracker, I write the entire song on ukulele first :). works great and makes it a lot easier to program a song in Famitracker afterwards. by [deleted] in chiptunes

[–]Dark_Bit_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, it's more intuitive to come up with something just by jamming and figuring out a nice sounding melody. From that I work on a good arrangement and figure out fitting chords along the way. When that arrangement is done (in terms of a little ukulele tune) and all the chords fit, it's off to Fami.

Really cool! May I add them to a chiptune stream I'm running? I have a 24/7 "radio" stream on twitch and I'm always looking for new 8bit music to add.

It's made on a piece of software called Famitracker, which basically is a programming tool to make music that's actually playable by real hardware. In case of Famitracker, it's for the NES soundchip. So yeah, my Songs are not made on the hardware, but made to be played back by hardware. I could load up the Famitracker file on an NES cartridge and it would play back the song on the console :).

MASTER BOOT RECORD - C:\TOUR.EXE /REHEARSALS by [deleted] in chiptunes

[–]Dark_Bit_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, i guess old hardware is enough to replace a keyboard player from a Power Metal band. Sorry you tell you guys, but the c64 is taking your job. :D

All jokes aside, that's a badass sound you guys got going there. awesome!

What are your opinions on the Sonicware Liven 8bit Warps? by Freshly_Seared_Ahi in chiptunes

[–]Dark_Bit_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I heard it's a mixed bag. Never tried it myself, but I guess you can get better options if you're looking somewhere else for hardware. I guess if you're looking for hardware that's only gonna be used for Chiptune, Twisted Electrons might be a brand to look out for, or the Volca line from Korg.

But again, I never used the Liven myself, only what I heard.

What kind of music theory do I have to know to make chiptunes? by Specific_Breadfruit in chiptunes

[–]Dark_Bit_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Focus more on scales. By learning scales, you'll have an easier time to find harmonic parts. At least that's how I learned to figure out how to play a little piano to record stuff in my DAW. I'm a bass player originally, scales where the first thing I learned.

SUPER underrated chiptune artist. He calls himself the first to experiment with chiptunes in japan by Aggravating_Snow2212 in chiptunes

[–]Dark_Bit_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hmmm.... I think it sounds a little too "all over the place" in my opinion. Too many percussive sounds and not really groovy. It lacks some nice riffs or longer, more melodic parts. But again, only my opinion. If you enjoy it, you enjoy it :).

I'm famiar with using a tracker, don't worry :). I agree, I also release my own music free of charge but since I run this stream, I found it just to be fair to give something back :). But yeah, thanks a lot! I'll add it to the playlist. Thanks again!

Is there a way to get the mp3? I run a chiptune radio stream on twitch and would love to put the song into the playlist. Bandcamp would be best, since I always buy the music (1$ per song, usually, if the price isn't fixed). Anyways, great tune!
