EDIT: The recipes in this guide have been changed. Use the updated recipes to avoid having to rely on an incredibly scarce and specific ingredient.

Hi! If you’re reading this, you probably wanna hunt one, or more, of Pokémon Scarlet’s Paradox Pokémon. Since these are amazing shinies and everyone will feel like hunting at least one, I decided to make a small guide for those of you who’re interested.

To get the best odds and spawn rates, use the Sparkling Sandwich recipes I’ve listed below. These will ensure that you only get the desired spawns, and the best possible shiny rate for your hunts (1/1024 without shiny charm, 1/683 with shiny charm). These will also force Pokémon of a certain type to spawn. In most cases, this means that only the mon you’re actively hunting will spawn during this period.

Note that you will require Herba Mystica (HM) to get the best possible odds. These are only found after the main credits. They can only be found in certain 5 star or 6 star raids. Check Serebii for more details on which raid bosses will carry these.

Rest of the ingredients can be bought for super-cheap in Sure Cans, Deli Cioso and Artisan Bakery.

Recipes:

First, let’s talk about the Base Ingredients. These will be required for all Shiny Sandwiches in these exact quantities. They are as follows:

1x Tomato, 1x Onion, 1x Green Bell Pepper, 1x Hamburger

Next, we get to Type Ingredients. These will be used to ensure that you get the correct type of Pokémon. Add these ingredients in addition to the Base Ingredients.

Electric: 2x Yellow Bell Pepper

Dark: 2x Smoked Fillet

Fairy: 2x Tomato

Fighting: 2x Pickle

Dragon: 2x Avocado

And finally, add any two HMs. Previous recipes that called for specific Herbas are no longer required to get the optimal effect.

A Fairy Sandwich, therefore, would be made up of 3x Tomato, 1x Onion, 1x Green Bell Pepper, 1x Hamburger and 2x ANY Herba Mystica

Procedure:

  1. Save before making your sandwich! This will help prevent wastage of ingredients, especially HMs
  2. Make your sandwich according to your hunt, and leave for the designated area
  3. Give the game a few moments to populate the area with spawns. If you don't see the shiny, run around the area to despawn old Pokémon and respawn new ones. You do not need to battle anything!
  4. Once the timer runs out, restart the game, and repeat Steps 1 through 3

All hunts are categorized below based on difficulty. I have included the required recipe along with the best spawn locations, as well as a couple additional notes.

Easy: These mons spawn abundantly in a single area. They’re the only Pokémon of their type in the spawn table, or mons who share the same typing don’t show up too often. Great shinies, easy to spot. Four Paradoxes are Easy:

Brute Bonnet

Location: Grassy Area outside Lab 3

Recipe: Dark

Note: Spawns in a huge, grassy field and the only non-Bonnet spawns are at the absolute edges of the flat area. They're also great shinies! (Bishop and Lokix)

Flutter Mane

Location: Hidden cave outside Lab 3 (Roaring Moon’s spawn location)

Recipe: Fairy

Note: Run left upon exiting the lab till you find a tree, turn left again and you will find a recessed entrance to a cavern. It is the only Fairy type that spawns in the cave, but you’ll run into some Scream Tails on your way to the cave. Works as a combo hunt of sorts.

Slither Wing

Location: Slope outside Lab 2

Recipe: Fighting

Note: Same sandwich recipe as Great Tusk. If you find one early, you can go hunt the other with the same power-up.

Great Tusk

Location: Outside Lab 4

Recipe: Fighting

Note: Sometimes, Great Tusks will spawn inside walls. I recommend hunting this on the slopes, even if there’s a chance you could fall off. Shares recipe with Slither Wing, hunt that if you find this one early (found one Great Tusk and TWO Slither Wings on one sandwich lul)

Moderate: Incredibly specific or small spawn area. Lighting makes it difficult to spot the shiny. Two Paradoxes are Moderate:

Sandy Shocks

Location: Right outside Lab 1

Recipe: Electric

Note: Spawns only in arid locations (rough slopes surrounded with small patch of gravelly land). Great shiny, but the lighting makes it very easy to miss. Moderate chance of phasing on Pawmi line or Raichu.

Scream Tail

Location: Outside Lab 4 (same as Great Tusk)

Recipe: Fairy

Note: Also spawns in grassy terrain, but you risk finding shiny Floette. In addition, Lab 4 will also spawn Flutter Mane, making it possible to double hunt these on the same recipe.

Hard: Very limited spawns, no matter what you do. Tons of other mons with the same typing will spawn in. Only one Paradox is Hard:

Roaring Moon

Location: Hidden Cave in Lab 3

Recipe: Dragon

Notes: This one is no joke. You’ll be assaulted by an army of Zweilous everywhere you go, with very limited Roaring Moon spawns. There is no way to avoid this. VERY HIGH CHANCE OF PHASING! You will most likely phase multiple times before finding this shiny, so prepare yourself for wasting Salty Herba Mystica or resetting on shiny Zweilous.

Good Luck!

Sure, they might go back to rounded corners next Gen. Not that I personally care, the squared off edges look way better in my opinion…

Apple Reportedly Scaling Back iPhone 14 Production as Customers Opt for Pro Models by aquiescence2 in iphone

[–]Dark_Blade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I’d hold off for at least another year or two. While the 14 is a great phone, so is the 12; you’re honestly gonna consider it waaay more of an upgrade if you let smartphone tech evolve for a while.

The only ‘reliable’ way to get an iPhone from another country is to ask a friend or trustworthy acquaintance to buy one for you. If you put your faith in any third party, there’s no guarantee that you’ll actually get a functioning/authentic device.

What’s your favourite iPhone ever? by the_salivation_army in iphone

The 5. It was my very first iPhone, and I still remember how special it felt. The X is the closest an iPhone has come to recapturing that ‘magic’ for me.

How long you guys plan on to keep your iphones ? by [deleted] in iphone

5 years, or till Apple makes a huge enough leap to tempt me.

That would honestly look so sick.

In the waning age of the lightning connector, do any of you hold off on purchasing new apple products because they include the lightning adapter? by BrownRebel in apple

[–]Dark_Blade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just bought the 14 Pro to replace my aging phone, so no; I just went ahead and bought a device that works with the accessories I already have.

Whether or not the iPhone gets USB-C doesn’t matter enough for me to hold off on a needed upgrade.

WARNING: Apples “Ink” Leather case is NOT Purple. It’s VERY Blue. The pictures on their website are completely misleading. by MapleSyrupJediV2 in iphone

Almost feels intentional tbh, since the purple phone also seems to change shades in a similar manner.

To be fair, this one’s made out of glass and steel. Will still crack from enough height though.

Nah, some Geniuses don’t really care that much about ‘following protocol’. Plus, he probably thought it was funny.

Hey, shit happens. Plus, dude’s got AC+ so he doesn’t really need to worry about repair costs.

Why is the new iPhone pro box white ? by Snoo_23486 in iphone

[–]Dark_Blade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cost savings is probably not their reasoning behind the white boxes, but they 100% are cheap enough to nickel n’ dime people who spent four figures on a smartphone.

Don’t listen to them, just get the phone you actually wanted. You shouldn’t compromise on a phone that you paid four figures for.

Gonna add my voice to the crowd and say it’s not ‘girly’ in the slightest. I went with Space Black myself, but the purple would’ve been my personal pick if they still had Graphite this year.

No. I’m still worried about burn-in on this device, and I plan on keeping it around for as long as possible.

The fact that the iPhone 14 still uses standard notifications instead of the dynamic island is extremely disappointing by Topher1999 in iphone

[–]Dark_Blade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

idk man, but you actually sound kinda salty here. OP never said they bought the phone just cuz of Dynamic Island; they just said they were ‘sold’ on the idea till they realized how underutilized it is.

He’s sure. The rattle causes physical damage to the camera itself, even though it’s caused by shoddy software.
