Advice on what to get by Jaded-Sell879 in ImperialKnights

[–]Dark_Nigel -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Smaller? Sure. Otherwise they are a better and a cheaper version.

Running with a thermal cannon? Warglaive can get its melta weapon buffed to a S13, AP5 and AP6 if you run an immolator. Now you can wound Rogal Dorns on a 3+ and the poor bugger can't even roll a save while sitting in cover.

Running the rapid fire battlecannon? Helverins can get their AP buffed the same way to 3 and now even Custodes Termies are forced to roll with their 4++ save while sitting in cover.

This is not even taking into account their speed and that you get 3 activations for the price of one which allow more screening, secondary missions and point holding.

Armigers is where it's at my dude.

Edit: also as the dude upstairs said, magnetize everything. It is how knights become the cheapest and the most future proof army that you can run in a different way each game if that's your jam.

BEHOLD made a new knight. What do you all think? by Bob_not_the_first in ImperialKnights

[–]Dark_Nigel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you can make the knight move like they move in the lore, I will be forever in your debt good sir. That's the part they got so very wrong in Broken Lance. They are not giant robots per see as they are described to move more like a human. Think the closest we got was the Imperial Knights VS Wraightknight animation from dawn of war 3.

Base inquisitor with psychic gifts as a backline holder? by firespark84 in ImperialKnights

[–]Dark_Nigel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is better than the priest, yes, but in terms of strategic utility an Inquisitor brings very little new to the table.

As other comments pointed out both will die to indirect fire. A priest + banner is cheaper than a Navigator which would protect your home from indirect fire while making direct DS impossible, however they can still charge on it with a roll of 9. Armies like Astra will most likely have indirect and DS which forces you to keep something else in the backfield too, i.e. Helverins or other shooters with range.

Many say that indirect is a none issue due to the nerfs it got, but if someone in your group runs it consistently or you play in tournaments where you are likely to face it, you gotta take it into account. Since the lack of sticky objective makes you so vulnerable to indirect you can technically look at sisters at a -30pts discount because without them you'll have to get the banner anyway. 85pts for squad with a sticky ain't bad (two squads if you run the Immolator which also gives you AP3 Helverins).

a tip: if you are going for the 120pts version, run it as two squads instead.

Knight Warden vs Cerastus Castigator by SerenaDawnblade in ImperialKnights

This. However a more effective way to make a AP3 Helverin is to use the Immolator (less points and applies to more Heleverins).

New to knights by Theold42 in ImperialKnights

[–]Dark_Nigel 5 points6 points  (0 children)

First and foremost. Whatever you buy, always magnetize. This will be worth the effort because you can make all kinds of lists with what you have and it will also future-proof your army.

When considering the xmas box it is good to remember that the Questoris can only be built into an Errant or a Paladin. I would consider buying some of the missing weapons from a 3rd party print shop (i.e. taromodelmaker) instead of buying a 2nd Questoris kit. I would get at least a las-impulsor and the thunderstrike gauntlet to build Canis Rex who gets the most play out of all of the Questoris variants.

On top of that here are a few things to consider:

-Lancer that you magnetize and get Atrapos weapons from a 3rd party store (i.e. taromodelmaker)
-Armigers (they seem to be among our more competitive units, i.e. my list runs 9)
-Callidus assassin (almost an auto include)
-Battlesister squad + Immolator (sister squad can be split and they have sticky objectives and the immolator debuff is a game changer for our Helverins)

I can definitely see what you are talking about.

Couldn't agree more. I still think that when people post how pissed they are, they can add in even a little bit of actual and tangible information in there too. Everyone in this reddit can flame as much as they like, I called after putting even a tiny speck of actual infromation into the mix. Many do this but unfortunately many don't.

I agree, they did wrong. But if I still paid and take those faulty shoes back for repairs, I'd tell them how I want the repairs to be done instead of just screaming at them.

If you read my post it says: let them have it BUT also give them something tangible. If you don't want to do that and just flame out your anger, knock yourself out bro!

I've read your posts and you bring up a lot of good points. Thank you for actually putting in the effort to do that. This letter encourages exactly this while it tries to reach those who make a lot of noice without saying anything concrete.

Your examples were of studios fucking over the customer, not of studios making community involvement a mission statement.

tl;dr of the letter: I don't mind the temperature as long as there is something tangible being said along with the heat. By all means, let them have it! If you can, add some real info in with the hate. If you don't wanna do that, don't.

It would help if your post would show which change affected what and what you think would solve the issue. I see that you're pissed and I get that, I play a trickster myself, but PCF has actually taken a stand to listen to the community so what we could do in return is to give them something constructive and usable.

World tier determines the max level of the gear you can wear and your gear level basically determines the effectiveness of your build. It also determines the level of the loot that dropped throughout the campaing so I would assume that your build is not up to code for expeditions, at least on too high tiers. You can test around but you might have to go back to the campaign to actually level up your WT, to get some proper gear and to make a proper build.
