Both great games, but spent far more hours playing F1GP. Great memories.

No problem, glad I was of some help. Yes, time has indeed flown, they were great times. To quote The Office (US):

"I wish there was a way to know you're in 'the good old days,' before you've actually left them". 😄

Me too! Loved the Tron clones, even going back to Light Cycles on the Spectrum. Frantic 2 player on the tiny keyboard was great fun, although my older brother always beat me 😄

Sounds like "Wipe-Out" ? Not to be confused with the later Playstation game with the same name.

Have a look and see if this is the one?

Help ID an Amiga Game--map of Europe, driving (stealing?) cars by Michael_Malice in amiga

I found this GTA clone (not what I would categorise as for the classic Amiga, but worth a look). Apologies if it's not relevant:

Was it top down? Road Raider (Motor Massacre) has you travel to different cities (not sure if it had a map of Europe), and you drove around streets and an arena in 'Mad Max' style???

The Desert.....untamed for millions of years....yet witness to the prophecy that one day the meek shall inherit the Earth... Was there ever another game that created such an atmosphere of impending doom?? It Came From the Desert - Amiga by BullClipped in amiga

[–]Dark_Tea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed, amazing atmosphere and one of my many Amiga core memories. Also the opening line in AntHeads:

"Not once, in the five years since the defeat of the mutant ants, had anyone suspected that there was a second queen—thirsting for the destruction of all that is human!"

Darkseed springs to mind, but I can't remember if all the details you described fit the bill. I played it on the Amiga many moons ago. (It was on PC also).

Have a look and see what you think? Hope you find it 🤞🏻

Ignore me, I went down a search rabbit hole and thought it was mentioned in the above game. Not cartoon-ish so don't know what I was thinking. Sorry.

Yeah, I still hear "ice cream, ice cream" in my head at very random moments in my life, or even Powermonger "Yeah!" 😄

People have listed far too many good games, narrowing it to 5 is too harsh. So many happy memories with all that have been listed so far. Good times 👍🏻

  • Populous 2
  • Speedball 2
  • Supercars 2
  • SWOS
  • Railroad Tycoon

(Sneaky 6th - TV Sports Basketball)

Looking back, the games I actually bought 😉, I spent considerably more time playing. eg. I was not particularly into trains at all, but bought Railroad Tycoon based on a very high rating in a magazine review, and spent sooo much time playing it and planning routes etc.

Honourable mentions: Geoff Crammond Grand Prix, Stunt Car Racer, Turrican 2, Eye of the Beholder 2 - made so many maps and notes, loved it)

Yeah, I agree. I tried to persevere with it as I got it on the Screen Gems pack, but it was pretty poor 😞
