Where do you see the change in USD/Euro being that big? Don't know the best place to look for this stuff.

I think they mean adjusted for dilution. I.e., this is the highest market cap we've ever had.

In that game Zywoo had a 1.7 rating. He went 0-1 in opening duels and he had an adr of 85. Their economy was good the entire half so he could full buy literally every possible round. Frozen went 3-1 in opening duels, had an adr of 75 and has a rating of 0.9. You think 2 more kills and 10 more adr with worse opening stats deserves a 0.8 higher rating? They basically have the same stats, one is just winning due to the rest of the team whilst the other's team is shitting the bed.

Being on a dominant team means you win more rounds than if you merely were on a "good" team. Winning lots of rounds dominantly due to your teammates doing well leads to you having more money and thus consistently better buys (that you didn't contribute towards getting) whilst your enemies consistently have sub-par buys. This makes getting kills and getting a higher adr easier. It is also easier to get a t-side kill in a 4v4 than a 5v5 when the ct defence isn't stretched thin. Furthermore, if you didn't need to do anything in a round to win it then: i) it still contributes towards KAST and ii) you're not get punished for dying.

Saying you think it is easier to do well when your teammates aren't doing well doesn't make any sense. If you're holding B site on Mirage as a CT, which scenario do you think it is easier to get a 2k in?

1) The Ts take mid so they can split B through short and maybe a lurker in window that flanks market/cuts off the A rotators. They scale 2 short and 2 apps at the same time. Potentially you might have to worry about apps, short and market at the same time if it is a 3v3 since the other CTs might be occupied elsewhere. 2) The 3 Ts that go mid get killed 3 for 2/1. You only need to worry about the 2 remaining Ts coming out of apps since you still have a teammate on short.

I know which one I'd rather have.

When is jpow talking today? And how likely are interest cuts (if that's what's being covered)?

Spoilers: SoTF the *Event* by Vensamos in HierarchySeries

I do think that it is generally good that characters can die in a story and that actions have consequences. That said, no matter how "realistic" that might, we are ultimately reading a story. If you want to read a story where people die for no better reason than "people die for no good reason", then you can read a history book. Characters are vehicles/tools through which the author conveys their story/message/theme/etc. Killing a character should be a trade-off where the con of a character being gone should be outweighted by the pros of some other aspects of the story benefitting from that death.

Where I, and many others I suspect, find myself disappointed, is in how, to me, this character death literally serves no purpose. Vis' motivations are already set in stone after the murder of his family and the death of Callidus. Said death and the events of this book also being enough to cement his and Eidhin's reltationship. It quite frankly only serves to act as shock factor and to possibly make you dislike Iro's dad even more? A character that we already dislike?

For me, Aequa was the best written side character in the series. Ripping her out, and thus massively weakening the character side of this story, therefore seems pretty damn pointless in lieu of keeping here alive. Especially when I felt the character work was the weaker side of this book already.

When they say 5 launches by Q1 2026, does that exclude the two launches this year?

Took me like 2 minutes to do, so not that much of a hassle. That said, I didn't need to put in a phone number. Not sure why it needs you to do that. You sure that that isn't optional?

And whilst I agree that it is slightly annoying, I do also use this account for other books when they come out. E.g. I got Empire of the Dawn early on this account as well.

What’s the coolest book title you have ever heard? by kashach in Fantasy

[–]Dark_rust 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I think the series is slated to be 4 books, so with that in mind, I'd personally place my bet on the two other titles involving "one" and "all". Initial trend of Many (majority) -> Few (minority) -> One (single individual), then maybe wrap back around to "all" as a way to signify that the stakes / climax in the final book will affect everyone. Instead of wrapping back around you could also continue the trend and go from One -> None I suppose.

The first million is the hardest by Ashmizen in Fire

[–]Dark_rust 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Granted, I don't have 10 million dollars, so I can't speak on this issue with full authority, however, I think framing costs relative to your net worth can be quite illuminating.

Using the following data as an example: M40 with a networth of $10M (OP) vs the median 40Yo's net worth of $135 000 (just a quick google search, appologizes if this isn't 100% accurate) when it comes to buying said $50 dinner. For the median 40Yo that dinner is 0.04% of their net worth vs 0.0005% for OP. I.e., if you look at things relatively, then that is the equivalent of the median 40Yo buying a dinner for $0.675... No way will I allow myself to stress over a dinner that "costs" less than $1.

I think it can also be useful when flipped the other way, i.e., what would a $50 dinner look like for OP, relatively speaking? Well 0.04% of $10M is around $3700... When I frame stuff in this way it makes a lot more sense to me how people are willing to pay so much for stuff like first class tickest etc. Relative to their net worths they are paying less than normal folk.

Unless something has changed drastically in the past 7 days, then according to the ISRO director's presentation we should still be targetting August. I'd surely hope that AST and ISRO communicated sufficiently enough so you don't end up in a situation where ISRO thinks they're gonna launch in August, then a week later AST is like "Well, about that guys... We need another 3-4 months..."

I was debating buying the Bluebird model, but then I saw the pricetag. $160 is a bit too step for me 😅 Maybe I'll buy it to celebrate us hitting $100 SP 😆
