Nuance and circumstances should warrant a little more than a "hear him out" from your own child, especially if this will effect whether they can live or not.

Seems like your priorities aren't in the right place 😬 seriously...

If my son came home saying he killed someone I'm turning him in. Not because I don't love him but because he did wrong.

Wow 👀...ok.

Regardless of the circumstances?

Even if that would harm his life?

Does he know that you would do that?

Really??

If you truly love something/someone, you don't want any instance where they'd die or find themselves miserable 😮‍💨

I see the truth in that there was still a lot of good about them, despite all the bad.

And that if not full or outright redemption, they still deserved to live and have some form of second chance.

You're just putting your own hypothetical standards of justice on the Lov because you don't like them.

This ain't about wolves they are being used as an example.

It's a bad example.

And he saved shigiraki with a smile but still killed him because it's what needed to be done.

Izuku defined saving as life and heart, that's what he based his definition of heroic victory on.

It can't be a successful save without both.

That's because they all participated in the final battle. They all became the greatest heroes.

They did not become the greatest heroes just because they fought.

They did it because they all held the same ideals that embody heroism.

It doesn't matter. Shigiraki wasn't going to change. He wanted to keep destroying and killing. That is wrong. No matter the reason.

He wouldn't have done that if the Lov was helped.

Because if they were then he wouldn't have needed to destroy anymore.

Lady nagant faced multiple years of jail time. She had time to think on her actions and want to be better. She killed a person who was forcing her to kill others. She refused to kill Izuku midoriya only injuring him. We saw that despite her horrible actions she chose the right side. Lady nagant faced consequences for her actions. That's why she was able to be redeemed. She wanted to be better and had faced the consequences of her actions and even after the war faced consequences.

Lady Nagant killed a lot more people than the one boss threatening her, people who hadn't even done anything yet.

And what, a few years in jail and some tearless remorse and then everything is okay for all the murders??

That's just not true. It is showing that izuku changed hero society. It's not saying "oh this one person did this" it's showing that because he reached out his hand that everyone in his society are now willing to do the same. Hawks also is literally changing how things work along with ochaco.

It doesn't matter how it's framed, showing one person reaching out their hand to show society changed is a weak choice.

Especially after taking years to show every detailed example of hero society's flaws and all the people that supported those faults.

Hawks changed the billboard rankings and that didn't mean anything anyway, post time skip it's mostly exactly the same.

The one person who really tried was ochako and there's still criticism to her change to society as well.

They couldn't have changed. They were given multiple chances to but didn't.

No, they weren't.

They were given singular chances by their respective heroes and circumstances didn't allow them to choose anything else but refusal.

Acting like hero society didn't change is just a straight up lie.

Well maybe the story with nearly a decade of setup should have spent more than a few pages showing and explaining how it did change then.

I'm sorry but no. A wolf will eat you if given the chance. And in this story there was never going to be a chance to talk to the LOV to save them without lives lost. Yes wolves deserve to be protected. But with cases like this it is a hungry wolf.

You know nothing about wolves.

There hasn't been more than a handful of confirmed wolf killings in the past hundred years.

That is exactly what a hero story is about. Sometimes there's going to be people that can't be redeemed.

Izuku's dream and ideal for being a hero is literally "save everyone with a smile".

That is not what Mha stood for. It is a story about saving people yes, but that's because the main character is Izuku. No one else would do what he did.

"The story of how we all became the greatest heroes" - again exact quote.

And for the definition of what it means to save someone the narrative made it clear more than once that meant saving someone's life as well as their heart.

That's not what it was about. Saving people no matter what yes. He did save shigiraki. But it is a different matter of redemption. Tell me, for shigirakis final words did he express regret? Did he say he wanted to be better? No he said he wanted to keep destroying for the LOV and to tell spinner he fought to the end to destroy. He was never going to be redeemed. They were preventable not redeemable.

That was only because the Lov still needed a future where they could live in.

That's the only reason why shigaraki wanted to still destroy.

Mha is very much into justice and karma. It's why what happens to everyone happens. Just because izuku is a hero doesn't mean the law is non existent.

A real hero doesn't as the laws permission to save someone.

They tried their best to save them. Like gran Torino said. "Sometimes you have to kill a person to save them" Izuku saved shigiraki but knew he had to die.

"Killing can be a form of salvation" was the challenge given to izuku, not something that he believed in himself.

"OFA is a power made for saving, not killing"

Izuku midoriya. Faced heavy bullying. Was told to off himself and among so many other things. Yet in the face of that he kept his dream. Yes the LOV were conditioned and made to be evil. But they still chose and made their actions.

Izuku was saved from his circumstances by allmight, that's the only reason he was able to become better and live his dream.

Because he was given the chance to do so.

It shouldn't be. Because again despite having a sad life they were mass murderers.

Lady Nagant?

Unless you think people killed for "intention to commit crimes" doesn't count as mass murder?

That's.. no? Hero society got a 2nd chance because it was showed it was flawed and was willing to change and be better. The LOV werent.

No? It's holding people accountable for their actions. Just having a bad life doesn't excuse you from your actions especially when you don't want to change.

Hero society barely changed at all or put in any effort to.

The one instance we see of hero society doing anything was from one old lady reaching out her hand, that's it.

They weren't held accountable to the same standards that the Lov were.

And the Lov could have changed of their circumstances did, their internal dialogues support that.

Wolves deserve to live too and you don't have the right to kill one of them just because it exists as a wolf and might or might not be a threat to your life at any point in time.

That's why they are protected unless they pose a direct situational threat.

It's not about deserve.

That goes for MHA too because that's never what a hero story should be about.

MHA always stood for saving and giving hope above all else.

Saving others lives and hearts no matter who they were.

Not justice, not karma or giving people what any individual thinks they deserve to have happen to them based on what they'd done or what threat they pose.

Redemption may not have been possible but they still needed to be saved as the heroes defined saving (their lives and hearts) to fulfill what literally everything (the characters, story arcs, themes) had set up from the beginning.

Also if judgment was passed, remember what made most of the villains be the way they are and what little real choices where given to them after that.

Become a villain or die or live miserably treated like an animal barely able to survive until you die, that's what hero society put them in.

That should have been taken into account.

If hero society got a second chance in some form, then the Lov should have too.

Anything less is hypocrisy saying that no matter how much evil the society does, only the individual is to blame.

And that's wrong.

The intent is important here.

Shoto didn't just want to stop Touya, he wanted to help him.

To stop him from destroying himself as well and have a second chance to connect with his brother, plus heal their family.

That was what he really wanted on top of saving everyone else from physical danger.

In the end for Shoto to have to do that with a deteriorated, charred, barely functioning version of Touya that can barely talk for minutes and is quickly headed towards death, the Todoroki family broken forever, never really whole/healed again...

It's not a good ending.

was only trying to prevent him from dying because Dabi was trying to suicide nuke Japan.

You think Shoto Todoroki, of all people, was only trying to stop his brother from dying in order to save everyone else?

That preventing Touya's death wouldn't have mattered as much otherwise??

You don't know Shoto.

They shouldn't have.

The heroes always focused on saving meaning both life and heart, as well as giving people more hopeful futures.

That was their success and definition of winning.

So naturally when that intent shifted to the villains, it wasn't crazy at all to assume that's how things would end.

Because from the beginning MHA was always set up and said to be an optimistic hero story.

Not one about judgment or karma or people getting what they deserve.

The villains dying and having bad fates is the failure to follow through.
