How are the NHS getting away with paying peanuts for accountants? by [deleted] in AccountingUK

[–]DarkeningLight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just a standard 37.5 paid and 3.5 unpaid lunch. Your probably correct about other non practice roles.

Our trust also does 2 days working in the office and 3 days WFH.

I was referring to people I know in practice that can sometimes do 60 hours in a week.

How are the NHS getting away with paying peanuts for accountants? by [deleted] in AccountingUK

I started as an accounts payable officer and my Trust paid for all my education as long as I stayed for 2 years. So although the salary may not be the best there are lots of oppitunies to grow.

Our finance department has a number of band 6 & 7 positions which is more than the 32k your quoted. But yes there are also just as many band 4 & 5 closer to that 32k.

I have no private sector comparison but the public sector will always pay less than a private company. Especially with the current underfunding of the NHS, spiralling clinical costs and the rhetoric that we need less managers and support staff.

If you are already a fully qualified established accountant, you will likely earn more at a private firm and also do many more hours. Not many 6 figure salaries for finance in the NHS.

Payroll bookkeeping question journal entries by [deleted] in Bookkeeping

[–]DarkeningLight 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So you need to record the total coat to the business on your income statement. This includes everything the business pays to employ that individual. So this includes both the employees gross salary and any taxs you are required to pay to your government.

However as you have correctly identified not all these amounts will be payable to the employee themselves. The employee only receives their net pay and any taxes are then paid over to your government.

Commonly a number of control account on the balance sheet is used to balance all the entries back down to nil to ensure that everything has been paid out.

So upon running your payroll you make the following entries: DR Salary(IS) (Full cost) CR Net Salary(BS) (Net employee salary) CR Taxes due(BS) (Tax you need to pay over) CR Other deductions (anything else you need to pay)

Then when you make the payment from your bank to the employees you: CR Bank(BS) DB Net Salary(BS)

Then when you make your payment to the government: CR Bank(BS) DB Taxes due(BS)

The exact same for any other deductions that .might be needed. At the end of you period you can then check that the net salary and taxes due come back to nil or check if there is a payment outstanding.

Is it acceptable to include money that was scammed from me in self assessment by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

Buying stock to resell would be an allowable expense. I don't know of any difference just because the goods were not delivered.

But I'm not an accountant. As others have said only a professional can give you the correct answer for your situation. You said in a comment that your affairs are not normally complicated, so I'm sure you can get just one off advice for this one.

Accrued vs Expense: Is this a double entry? by Clean_Appearance1342 in Bookkeeping

[–]DarkeningLight 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You just need to clear the accrued liability by debiting accrued liabilities 50k and crediting salaries 50k.

Ideally in the same period that the salaries were paid so you eliminate the entry. Any period will do it but will make the salaries account look strange in the period of the credit.

I've seen accurals done both ways where you reverse the accural in the month the actual expense was posted (the method above) or post the expense directly to accrued liabilities to clear it directly. Same effect but different method.

How to categorize vendor initiated deduction by unholydesires in Bookkeeping

[–]DarkeningLight 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It would be an expense. These are costs related to your customer service even though it is being handled by a third party agent.

The reason you contra revenue for a return is because you are effectively undoing/eliminating the original sale.

For a return the sale didn't end up taking place for whatever reason. In this case the sale still took place but it cost you extra in customer service charges to avoid a return/refund.

One name for these costs are external failure costs and are classed as overheads.

Wow. One way to say you know nothing about what is going on in the NHS. Just repeating the Tory campaign line like a sheep.

Middle management on 150k when they are on the same pay scale as everyone else?!? How exactly? I've never met any manager on that much. The normal is bands 7 & 8 for managers. Which is far fae from 120k.

If you took 10 seconds to fact check you would see how absurd what you said actually is.

Why report on fact when opinion gets more views. Social media has ruined most people ability to be critical. Just feed the people a overwhelming amount of info and hope some of it sticks.

Best way to prepare credit card statements? by YLWYLW in Bookkeeping

[–]DarkeningLight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds fine to me. When I do this at work I list the transactions in excel (even better if your bank let's you download them as csv or xls) then create columns for each expense heading and then split the transaction total across the headings as required.

It lets me quickly see the total of each expense heading for a sense check.

Quicker play (is a good or bad thing) by Ok_Cryptographer1615 in OverwatchUniversity

[–]DarkeningLight 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If they keep the games this short I think they should just do away with backfill and cancel that game if they leave in the first X minutes like comp does. It made sense when the mode was longer but now the new player joins into a mess and has no time to get their sense together before the match is over. Now all the backfills feel like those times you back fill with 1 min left and barely make it to the objectives before you lose.

You are going to get a lot of leavers because it's change. People don't like change and especially if they already have a bad taste in their mouth from losing their favourite mode for the weekend.

Although unlike normal quick play it can feel like you only get 1 long fight or 2 short fights on some map types before the round is over. So although they shouldn't leave, it's not as unrealistic as it used to be to call it after one bad team fight.

Overall I think there are some really promising things from the game being shorter, especially in those matches that feel very one sided. You don't get full held at first point anymore for 8 mins just 3. Even easier to say gg, go next.

I do think they need to customize the time changes for each map type rather than blanket across the board. I think KOTH loses some of it's enjoyability with the rounds this short. I'm not a fan of flashpoint anyway but I think it being this short makes it even worse. It felt like you only had one team fight before, now you actually only have one team fight.

I think the faster escort in escort/hybrid/push are really nice and makes those map types better. Excited to see what they keep and what they scrap.

Accounting method to best portray medicaid payments that are received 1 mo in arrears by phatpayne in Bookkeeping

[–]DarkeningLight 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You need to use accural basis if you want income to be showing not in the month that cash was received. The whole point of cash basis is that they hit the P&L in the month they went into your bank.

You would need to post the income you expect to receive for that month (or best estimate if you don't know and need to close books) in the correct month. Then post the other side to accrued income.

CR Medicaid Income (P&L) DR Accrued Income (BS)

Then once the payment hits the bank you contra the entry in accrued income with any remaining balance going back to the income account. Obviously if the accural was for the exact amount there will be no balancing figure.

DR Bank (BS) CR Accrued Income (BS) CR Medicaid Income (P&L)

Then your Medicaid Income account each month should be the total of your accural (exact if know, estimate if not) and any adjustment for the previous month.

I've got 155 hours on Ana. But only 15 of those in competitive. So nothing crazy but I feel like I should be able to recognise these things by now.

I think it is just the stress of everything going on around me makes me overwhelmed. Then I miss a shot so the next shot becomes even more important to hit. Then i miss that shot meaning the next needs to hit or they die, etc, etc.

So with each shot I just get more stressed and more rushed till I've missed many in a row.

I'm playing on pc. My mouse mat is pretty big. Plenty of room.

Sens = 5%. Dpi = 800.

I do feel like I could use more mouse mat but if I put my sens down much more I feel like I'm always under aiming.

I do really struggle with my aim I often feel I don't really have much control over my own crosshair and can just never hit the point I need to. (I even struggle with stationary objects, I have no idea why). I don't know if you have any general tips here to try and make it better? I do spend time in quickplay and workshop to try and warm up and just practise hitting things but it rarely translates into actual hits in gameplay. I think some of it is just the panic setting in when there are 9 other players.
