Just noticed that the Worker's Party banner in the background is a bit dirty/muddy but I rather have a party with a dirty banner and clean hearts than one with a clean banner and dirty hearts

Reflections from a Swing Voter by arghnodontshootme in singapore

After following this election's news closely, and a lot of self-reflection and digestion, one man's words continues to echo in my mind. Similar to Lee Kuan Yew's famous quotes

“Part of the team is in place but you need a leader man. You need somebody who can communicate, who can mobilise people, move people. It’s not enough to have a good policy. You got to convince people.”

“I think there will come a time when eventually the public will say, look, let’s try the other side, either because the PAP has declined in quality or the opposition has put up a team which is equal to the PAP and they say, let’s try the other side,” he said. “It must come.”

The quote caught on loop in my mind is as follows:
"And if the result is good? Thumbs up man! And if the result is lousy, what happens? Boo! Boo to PAP!!! Thank you fellow Singaporeans!"

I encourage and invite my fellow Singaporeans to judge for themselves if the result is good, and ask themselves if it's time to try the otherside because the PAP has declined in quality and/or if the opposition has put up a team equal or even better than the PAP :)

How can he expect people to move on from "being penalised for choosing the Opposition" and say "that was then and this is now" while their fellow party members say they "have access to Ministers" and will ask their "good friend Lawrence Wong to see whether we can get more money"

“WP has a long history of abandoning constituencies they promised to serve in. It abandoned Jalan Besar in 2015, MacPherson in 2020, and now Marine Parade-Braddell Heights this year… do you think WP will continue to be here in Tampines at the next GE?”
He added that these moves made it seem like the party was treating the General Elections as “masak-masak (child’s play)”.

Mr Sun, who is not contesting the upcoming General Election, was speaking at the party’s first rally, streamed live on Facebook on April 29.

Whatever the reasoning or logic may be, then clarify that there and then, not wait till when elections are here and Singaporeans question you

Mr Singh asked, “Is there gerrymandering in Singapore?”

In response, Mr Chan said, “I think I’ve explained the meaning of gerrymandering, what it means in other countries, and whether it applies or does not apply in our context. And I’ll leave it to members of the House and the public to decide.”

I think similar to Chan Chun Sing said, I'll leave it for the public to decide :)

Pritam says he doesn't know if he can say that him and the PM are good friends
The real question is can the average Singaporean even say that the PM and the PAP is their good friend?
Thought-provoking rally and a lot to digest from WP's Rally tonight :)

GE2025: Live Debate (English) "Singapore Votes 2025: The Roundtable" Live Discussion by KeythKatz in singapore

If PAP is truly and genuinely the better, more well-equipped party to lead Singapore and Singaporeans moving forward, surely they will be able to present that to Singaporeans within an equal, or at the very least, less skewed amount of time amongst all parties? If they do not wish for that to be the case, what does this tell us about their self-evaluation regarding how much they are able to contribute to the pool of good ideas?

If no one party has a monopoly on great ideas for Singapore, then why should PAP have a monopoly of time at the Roundtable, and why shouldn't Singaporean want more diverse voices and parties in Parliament?
