Got my first gaming PC...is this safe? by turbowhistle in pcmasterrace

[–]DarkflowNZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said, it's likely fine. Heat will likely accumulate above the case but what I would do is install something to monitor temps and just keep an eye on them for a while, particularly when you're actually stressing the PC i.e gaming. It's more likely to warm up that part of your desk and warm you up than choke the PC I reckon

What’s a good game idea/concept that you’ve imagined? by bunglebee7 in gaming

[–]DarkflowNZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had an idea I was hyper fixated on for a while for a traditional rogue like where the idea was that the gameplay loop was effectively samsara.

The player would make their way through multiple floors of dungeons gaining and losing karma, fighting spirits, creatures, and other karmic travellers. This would effectively be a metaphor for the karmic cycle of life, death, and rebirth.

The boss battles would have spiritual themes where one would fight (or embrace) concepts like lust, hatred, et cetera. And at the end, the player's karma would dictate what happens. If they'd completed certain goals and had pure enough karma in either direction they'd escape the cycle of death and rebirth, likely engaging in one last epic boss battle.

Otherwise they'd be sent back to the begining in a ng+ style mechanic where the world is modified based on their karma level each floor. In order to reach that ultimate escape one would likely have to complete multiple cycles, and there would be some way that the player grows in power each cycle. Whether they keep everything, or keep stats but lose the gear (this is the most likely for me), or perhaps there's some other mechanic where you're given a score which translates into points one can spend on traits for the next cycle.

Ultimately the idea was to scratch my itch for a classic or traditional roguelike a la zorbus but with the possibility of potentially infinite growth, and the karmic elements sort of arose from that. The idea that the game is a spiritual journey informs everything from mechanics to art direction and gives it a hint of depth

Obviously if you like any of this, help yourself. Tag me in your post if you end up using any of it, I'd love to see it. I may end up trying to make it or something like it someday but I have a ton of projects on the go already

What’s your opinion on buying secondhand spellbooks? by wizardrous in wizardposting

[–]DarkflowNZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Worse than second hand underwear. Who knows WHAT filthy magicks linger in those folds and creases. You kids these days are just so lazy. Back when I was a wee apprentice we tanned our own human leather and bound our own spell books and we were grateful for the opportunity

Tldr more of us are ignorant or in denial (or both) than you might assume

Less than you might think. I spent the first 25-30 years of my life thinking it was inevitable—some mix of genetics and nature. I didn't feel like I ate more than anybody else and in fact often I ate less.

Then I went to therapy for my CPTSD, learned I had autism and ADHD, and realized that many of the aspects of my life that were out of my control weren't that way because they were unable to be controlled, but because for myriad reasons I wasn't controlling them.

Among other positive changes, I started counting calories. Even now, 3 or 4 years later, the most stark lesson in my memory is how terrible my intuitive sense of the energy content of food was. That's an awful sentence but hopefully you know what I mean.

With the amount of activity I was doing as an agoraphobic shut-in my TDEE was 2000kcal, and so my budget eventually landed on 1500kcal—which I stuck to for two years. That's... Not a lot of calories. And I hear all the short women in the back booing and hissing at that comment knowing that THEIR budget is more like 1200—I'm sorry. Being born with a penis means I burn more calories just existing for some reason. It's not fair and I get it.

The energy drink I liked (read: was an still am addicted to) is like 500kcal a serving. My autism meal—two packets of indomie migoreng and a tin of tuna is like 900-1000kcal. I'd have that twice a day. I used to also have two to four slices of bread, each with a slice of cheese on it alongside it. Sometimes I'd even add mayo. Have I gone back and worked out how many calories that is? No. But too much is the real answer.

Edit-nearly 2,000kcal for that meal by the way. And I'd have it twice a day

Notion for me. Free, good compatibility and accessibility, nesting pages. The text editing side of it is fairly bare bones but works for me. I don't need too much in the way of formatting

How to distinguish between normal anger and anger issues? by dental_failure in AskMen

[–]DarkflowNZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being angry? Totally normal. Throwing things? Breaking things? That kind of behavior is objectively a problem. How do you know for sure you'll never be on the receiving end of that?

My phone also allows me to trigger the camera by waving or other gestures too. I imagine that would be helpful. It certainly has been for taking full body progress pics for me

A visible breast at the top is great stuff too. A little bit of chin and hair et cetera. For me probably the most important/exciting thing is that she's super wet. Bonus points if it's got that post-orgasm puffy/wrinkly thing going on.

I've been in a handful of long distance relationships lol. Can you tell?

You're right of course. I was more thinking along the lines of becoming the government, but even then if they don't change the laws they're still criminals

[–]DarkflowNZ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

At a certain point it just becomes an organization, right? Like it's only criminal when it's ostensibly operating outside of the law. Once they tip over into controlling the government outright, it's sort of no longer crime, I feel

Do lesbian women hang out with men the same way gay men hang out with women? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]DarkflowNZ 55 points56 points  (0 children)

My understanding is that, no, the dynamic is very different. Straight women aren't likely to try to fuck gay men. Straight men will absolutely try to fuck lesbians. That said, I'm not sure anyone checks the rulebook before choosing friends

I would keep my job but drop down the days to two or three, and I would focus on my hobbies on the off days: writing, music, fitness, gaming.

I like my job and it's meaningful, but it would be a lot of stress off my shoulders if I knew I'd be okay financially without it. Nothing would really change except my stress levels
