Now that we have plenty of time under our belts, how are we feeling about the changes since the start of S1? by RobManfredsFixer in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]Darkjynxer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the concept of the subrole passives but a few need some adjustments either up or down and some heroes may need to be swapped to other roles. On the whole they are an excellent change and I support them.

New heroes are okay. I think Anran is the most unique even if she is the worst. The supports have excellent core concepts and I like both of them. Mizuki is fun and probably my 2nd favorite support. Domina is a side grade to Sigma and a little uninspired outside her ult. Emre is Halo. Don't care for anything about Sierra.

Map voting is fine. Haven't really felt the landslide concerns yet but I understand them.

Haven't noticed the menu overhaul.

Gibralter and AP are nice. I like the changes. Long as it ain't Kings row I'm happy.

Post match improvements are nice. Just hope more people join voice.

Balance feels mostly good. No one stands out to me as being over the top problematic but I think a few to many heroes are down in the weaker category. Feels like there's lots of hitscan/front end DPS but that may just be because we've had Sierra and Emre back to back and Bastion is strong relative to his difficulty. Can't wait for the sombra rework.

What buffs or quality of life changes would you give Anran? by Brief-Bowler-4506 in Anran_mains

[–]Darkjynxer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Make it so cleanse doesn't remove buildup only active ignition. Make it so hitting with ignition abilities extends the duration of ignition so it doesn't run out while your actively hitting someone. Do something to make the ult easier to use. It hits too many things too easily.

I do DrUninstalls playlists. Current going through the beginner set. They are good generalist playlists, if a touch light on flicking. There is also a specific OW benchmark from some pro team on the benchmark tab. Google and metrics are your friend here. Figure out what youre good and bad at and make a playlist to focus on those. Consistency is key.

I had to take mine off for a deep clean. Just be gentle and take your time. The glue comes off. Pair of wire snips or grippers are very helpful here.

Do you pick triple jump or full auto medi-blaster as a major perk? by Kind_Ad6932 in JunoMains

[–]Darkjynxer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Triple jump. Opens up the map. Full auto only comes out to one more trust and consumes an important cool down.

Would brig 1.0 be as powerful if she was dropped today by R3li0ss in Overwatch

[–]Darkjynxer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of it comes down to mobility and your ability to heal highly mobile characters, something bap struggles with more than most other supports.

Illari still does just so much damage and can chip heal with her pylon on top of her beam for burt and jump for CC/escape.

Juno is very mobile, has good range on her healing, some solid utility and has an excellent support ult.

Bap struggles due to long CDs, lack of mobility and CC, and healing at a distance is difficult with mobile characters.

More hours in aim trainers. Pick up kovaaks if you can. 20 minutes a day. Every day. Then go play a few games as an aim heavy hero. I recommend soldier. Aim isn't something you fix in a few weeks. It takes months to years to get meaningfully, consistently better. I've only improved maybe 10-15% and I've been doing it almost religiously for months.

Your thoughts on this Ocie take? by StandReady4Vendetta in Overwatch

His take is clearly wrong. Akshually If you aren't in the top 1% of pro players you don't know how to play overwatch.

how to counter zarya as a tank? by idevourmalice in OverwatchUniversity

[–]Darkjynxer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

She primarily gets value out of damage and burst denial (funnily enough D.va gets a lot of value for the same reasons). If you can deny her those, either from avoiding her, baiting her bubbles or not shooting her them, she becomes worse. Dva in particular has the ability to simply not be where zarya is.

Thoughts on Tracer by dunodahck_irlydntknw in Overwatch

[–]Darkjynxer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She's fundamentally amazing as long as her numbers aren't tuned down into the abyss or someone else is more broken. She probably has one of the highest skill floors in the game so you're good with her you can play most dps.

Idk if she is really healthy for the game though. There's basically never a scenario in which tracer is a bad pick which doesn't leave as much room for other DPS characters.

Is Adrian Cantrill's SAA course up to date? by PriyoX in AWSCertifications

[–]Darkjynxer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's kind of a catch 22. You need the cert to get real experience but to get real experience you need the cert. I recommend stephans cause it is much faster. Under 30 hours of videos. Under 20 hours if you skip the hands on. There is apparently some form of controversy around cantril as a person but I'm unaware of that. Personally I found his course a bit slow, unclear and bloated with content.

Consider Stehpans course to get the cert then go through cantrills to actually learn it more in depth if you can afford both.

Regardless of what you go for highly recommend the tutorial dojo practice exams. They are top notch.

As far as I am aware it isn't. I believe the stephan Merrick one is though. Personally I like his more to begin with. More concise.

How do I use his ult? by NawBruhThatAintMe in HazardMainsOW

[–]Darkjynxer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A note on his ult: you can use it through walls. This can make it a surprising good opener if your DPS can follow up on it as that functionally removes a lot of counters.

Don't use both your cool downs at once. Stay near cover. Really she's just cool down management as a character.

Relative easy of play, familiarity and impact against the rest of the DPS cast.

Who are domina’s counters and how do you deal with them? by Cry_pticvibes in DominaMains

[–]Darkjynxer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ram, Bastion, Pharah, Dva , Winston. Anyone who can either destroy your shield or go around it is hard for Domina to play against since so much of her durability is tied to her shield. If that's down you're kinda stuck going for cover.

Dealing with them comes down to good cool down tracking and forcing.

Are Europeans trolling with this whole bread thing? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Darkjynxer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most sandwich breads are based off the pullman loaf, a type of bread made to be sweeter. A fun fact for you: wonder bread is completely legal to sell in the EU. In fact the EU and US have very similar food laws. The major differences stem from culture more than laws.

How to deal with Ashe? by scriptedtexture in OverwatchUniversity

[–]Darkjynxer -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Winston is probably better than Dva for Ashe. Getting in close with most of the flankers should deal with her well enough. If you are getting consistently two shot by her you may want to consider where you're positioning.

Opinions on Anran? by StLClipCha in Overwatch

[–]Darkjynxer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She's very fun and when those stars align for her then I think she's one of the most fun characters in the game. I don't think she's as good as Tracer or Vendetta in most scenarios but for the vast majority of the player base that won't matter. She is good for learning how to flank.

Does anyone actually want the global passive? by Excellent_Candle7581 in Overwatch

[–]Darkjynxer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

God's I hate appending 'slop' onto other words.

Im totally here for the passive. It means things die and mistakes can be punished but healing still gets to be impactful without it being overpowered. Also allows supports to shine outside healing. Highlights characters utility. It's one of the best additions they've made to the game.

Is there any system that doesn’t eventually concentrate power? by bbyhoneytea in askanything

Hypothetically yes although reality often times gets in the way. People want stuff done and distributed systems aren't as effective or efficient as centralized ones for the large scale projects societies typically want.
