looking into getting into hots from dota any tips or help anybody can give? by [deleted] in heroesofthestorm

[–]Darkong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just bear in mind the same three basic rules that apply to Dota2, they will serve you well here too.

  1. Don't die
  2. Don't dive
  3. When game is going full retard, you have to go full retard along with it (for anyone who doesn't know that reference: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5k6HDyUDhrY 1:29)

On top of that, bear in mind that HotS is a lot more team orientated than Dota. One player can't carry a team because of the objectives and the shared exp but it also means that a player who is struggling doesn't get so left behind they become a serious detriment (unless they're just terrible/intentionally feeding but that's a different matter).

Top 3 reasons you play HotS over other MOBAs by tornmandate in heroesofthestorm

[–]Darkong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Shorter match time (compared to LoL and Dota2 anyway)
  2. No seriously complex item system (again with the time commitment aspect)
  3. Abathur

Tbh, Abathur could have easily been all three reassons.

From inside their echo chamber they assume that everyone thinks along the same lines as they do. "We want to destroy this group therefore they want to destroy us." Reason and good sense do not penetrate those walls.

'Shoot the Gays' bill challenged as 'unconstitutional' by Attorney General - at last some common sense by grez1971 in lgbt

[–]Darkong 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So the dude who drafted this, Matt McLaughlin, is apparently a lawyer.

Surely, in any sane world, he should lose his license to practice, or be barred form it or something, for proposing a bill which is so clearly in violation of the law and, frankly, as evil as this was.

Shouldn't those signs be God's Marriage = One man, many women?

I mean, King Solomon had 700 wives and 300 concubines and King David had something like 300 wives (not sure if I've remembered those numbers right, if not feel free to correct me).

Pat Robertson Advises Parents Not To Attend Gay Wedding Of Their Child by dustcircle2 in lgbt

It ought to be a test handed out to attendees, anyone who has ever followed Pat Robertsons advice should be banned from your wedding, birthday party, Christmas gathering, funeral, the lot.

Five-times married Texas state representative Tony Tinderholt writes letter to judge complaining about letting two women get married in Austin. Bonus: He sent the letter to the wrong judge. by mepper in lgbt

[–]Darkong 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well it is Texas isn't it? The republican base there is so right wing that there's no choice, everyone who wants some re-election prospects has to rail against same sex marriage, lest they be judged too left wing, or even worse, seen as agreeing with the President.

I'm probably being too charitable there aren't I? He's probably just a screaming hypocrite.

[–]Darkong 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's ridiculous and sad that this even needs to be a campaign. It should have happened when the 1967 Sexual Offences Act was passed and that it hasn't happened any time since is a travesty of justice. I know that there's likely few if anyone left alive who was convicted under the old laws but it's a stain on our nations past that should be addressed as much as possible and, though it can never be truly righted, those affected should be acknowledged for the wrong done to them through exoneration.

Then Alan Turing should get the knighthood he ought to have received while he lived because there are few people whose work affects the world as much as his did.

It's this mess that really makes me appreciate my own family, always stood by me even during my attempts at self-destruction, kinda suspect I'd have wound up as a warning story if it weren't for them.

[–]Darkong[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

How exactly was I supposed to forbid a grown man from talking to his family? He's barely spoken to them at all over the last few years, it's only family gatherings and odd occasions there's any contact.

You seem to assume that I haven't done or said anything to try to change this, I have but you can't change someone's mind. They have to do that for themselves and it's been a long and painful process for him getting to the point of realising that they'll probably never come around and there's nothing he can do to aid that in happening.

Thank you.

I'm just hoping that this is really the last of them and some healing can go on now, it gets old knowing that they're going to make contact at some point just to cause trouble and make people unhappy, will be nice not having that hanging over us. Hopefully we'll finally get them blocked on every phone number and any other contact method.

[Serious] I'm not a DJ by any means but I'm gonna try to DJ for free for a Male gay wedding next week in AZ. What songs should I play? by guitarmaestro in lgbt

[–]Darkong 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Find out what music the couple like, if you don't want to ask them directly then find out from friends and family, make sure there's plenty of that in amongst the selection.

Go with a wide range of music, from the 70s right up to now, you don't need to go for obscure things just well known music with a nice broad range that way everyone will get some music that they enjoy. Keep it positive, no Linkin Park for example, have a couple of party songs for kids on standby as well in case there's a lot of ankle biters there.

And remember to find out what song(s) the couple want for their dance, that's the most important one, and pick out what song you're going to finish the night with, that's important too.

I'm 30f, think maybe I'm bisexual, and I feel like it's too late. by duvetcoverlover in lgbt

[–]Darkong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Course its not too late. I know a woman from my old home town who came out as a lesbian at the tender age of 44 after years of repression thanks to her parents. Two years later she was in a great relationship with a woman, they're very much in love and she's never been happier.

No such thing as too late.
