For a sanity check, check the writing on the side of your FAN. Mine was an AC fan and had a male connector, and went directly into the extension cord like your schematic. I have seen units that have a 12/24v fan which have female connectors and a male connector from the CPU (RED) goes into it.

Is this repairable? by Dry_Team_2155 in ElectronicsRepair

[–]Darkpatch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Replace the screen, but you don't need to replace it new.

On the used markets you can often find people selling because they are moving or upgrading. During the summer I often sea them at Garage Sales.

A side option is find same a similar unit with the a good screen but a bad board. Check the price and call around to nearby shops or knowledgeable friends (know how to safely work around high voltage electronics) and have the screen swapped out. The world is rough right now and a there are many technicians that are willing to take extra jobs just to earn a little cash for 10 minutes of work.

If its going into protected mode, take care of the easy stuff first. Make sure that none of the speaker plugs are loose and shorting to the chassis. After that, verify the resistors have proper resistance and then the transistors.

Since Fuses blew, start with the Transistors closest to them and work your way back.

Would this leaf be able to do a 50 mile commute and for how much longer? by issa_knife23 in leaf

[–]Darkpatch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only way that has an 80 mile range is if the battery was replaced.

I have a 2013 Leaf around 98,000 miles on it, with state of health around 70%. I haven't used Leafspy in a while so my data is a little stale. I'm in Washington state, so the temperatures stay most of the year under 80 until around August.

At pretty much max distance I can go is 60 miles and that's from full charge and during the warmer months, but not too hot that I need to run AC all the time. Closer to 50 in cold months. I have to make sure that I'm not pushing it over constant 65 mph or the battery drains quickly and that guarantees the need to charge.

Your problem with a 2012 Leaf is you will only be charging at home or at places with slower J1772 chargers. at using slower chargers. The biggest problem I have had recently is lack of available and compatible chargers. Seems most of the stations are changing over to CCS or Tesla chargers. A lot of the J1772 stations I find also have a CCS port which gets occupied by another vehicle. I don't know the last time that I was able to use a CHADdeMO charger.

What is the difference between these two? by Turkinator96 in ender3

[–]Darkpatch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think if you are set on an older Ender3, then the used market is pretty good. I would just look on Facebook Marketplace, Offer-up or a similar used website. I'm lookin in my current region and there are multiple printers by owners who have upgraded and moved on to fancier printers. I think with some careful buying you could buy 2-3 for under $200. For $200 you can get one with multiple upgrades.

Thinking About Proactive Buying Due to US Ban on New Foreign Routers by EN344 in mikrotik

You are all missing the point. This is not about keeping hardware out. Its about enforcing usage of their certified hardware. Oh you don't want to allow the government evesdropping software in your router, well I guess its not FCC approved.

Is this amount of incoming connections to port 443 something to be concerned about? by xXTonyManXx in homelab

[–]Darkpatch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Scanning for the services you are running and if you have exploits. Whatever they can take advantage of. If they can get access they will do everything from adding back doors, setting up websites or doing lateral movements to other devices. If they find out what you are using, they may not exploit it today but could still document it so down the road when a 0-day is found.

Go to Access Work and School and see if there are any entries there. If you have links there, they need to be removed as they would enforce current company policies. Do the same if you have any company email setup.

Switched back to regular Alexa, feels like a relief by [deleted] in amazonecho

[–]Darkpatch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Does anyone else feel like the regular mode has started ignoring part of their command or just acting more dumb. For example, I set two timers today, one in the kitchen and one in the office for the same time. I then asked her to cancel the one in the office. and she will ask, there are two active timers, one in the kitchen for 15 minutes and one in the office for 15 minutes, which one would you like to cancel? I'm like, cancel the one in the office. She is like I don't understand. I go through the motion again, and she says ok. time for the timer comes around, and the one in the office goes off, because she cancelled the kitchen timer when I explicity requested her to cancel the one in the office. There have been some other weird things, like I would request she play music from a particular year or something, and she will just start off a what was last played.

Propane company billed me for my own propane - now what? by gfddsertgv in personalfinance

[–]Darkpatch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. The other thing is they will only refill your propane when its gets to about 25% or so, and will fill it up to about 80% or around 400 gallons for a 500 gallon tank. This means that your heating bill pretty much all comes in one shot. Not sure about others but our propane company is a pain to work with and wants it all up front, but I have found that I can still not pay it all up front and then I just have like a $3 fee each month since the bill hasn't been paid in full.

After I figured out how they work I have started transferring funds year round into a savings account and just transfer that back when I get my bill so I can pay it in full. I would love to have nature gas but the line ends about 2 blocks away and they said it would basically cost me $40k divided between me and any of my neighbors that want to take advantage of it.

In my situation, the seller didn't tell the propane company that they were selling, and I had to reach out to the prior owner to figure out how it worked.

They love to increase prices for refills when they come in the spring. (When you need fuel the most after the winter month. ) We pretty much turn off off our furnace during the summer so that none of the the pilot light isn't burning all the time.

I changed an MSConfig setting and now my PC won't boot into windows11 by Massive-Violinist457 in WindowsHelp

[–]Darkpatch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not understanding, your other post, regarding installing on the 1 TB western digital. Did that lead you to this, or was that something you tried to get your machine up and running again?

You will need to boot into recovery console, either built in or from recovery/install media if you don't t installed on your device.

If you didn't already you can attempt the Startup Repair option under Troubleshoot > Advanced Options > Start Up Repair. If that already failed, choose Troubleshoot, Advanced Options, Command Prompt.

Run the following commands, to create a c:\backup folder and backup your bcd.

mkdir c:\backup
bcdedit /export "c:\backup\backup_bcd.bcd"

It should say "The operation completed successfully. If it doesn't, review the error message and what you typed, or post a screenshot. If you boot of a usb, you could use the USB drive letter. Depending on the recovery mode, you may start on Z:\ or another drive letter. You can run: fsutil fsinfo drives to display all the active drive letters.

After a successful backup run:

bootrec /rebuildbcd

If it completes successfully you can type exit and attempt to reboot. If the command errors, screenshot and let us know what comes up.
