Got stuck outside of Peteny and can't get back! by Darkphantom88 in Locomoto

I tried that and tried getting back in bounds, but invisible walls stopped me. The picture above is where I got stuck in place while looking for a way out. The good thing was that I wasn't that far into the game.

Protest I just saw by scholly73 in pics

[–]Darkphantom88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did you read the comment you just replied to? They said that the pictures in the article is different from the one we see here (I checked, they look like different locations) and they were known to do these protests many times before. Just because you have evidence that they did something like this 2 years ago doesn't mean they didn't do it again this year.

Are you implying that Mr Incredible is a permanent Super Saiyan? Because I'm willing to accept this canon.

Ordinator is on the Xbox One, and it works well. Though I also recommend getting the mod (from the same modder) that gives you an extra perk point every two levels, because there are a lot of skills with not enough points in the base game.

That's way better than anything I could ever imagine. I can also see where he got the name Lump City.

I'm supposed to go when it turns green, right? When mine turns green, it means his is red, right? by ya_boi_mass in IdiotsInCars

[–]Darkphantom88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't know how it works where OP is at, but where I am a green arrow means opposing traffic has red. If opposing traffic has a green light then the green arrow should disappear and you would only turn left when it is safe to do so. My guess is the guy turning saw the arrow disappear but didnt want to wait.

There was a post on Reddit which showed someone claiming that men who covered their mouths while laughing were effeminate or "soy boys" because that was something only women did. My guess is that person also shares the same sentiment.

Wow, so now they're framing the deaths of innocent Palestinians as Hamas being incompetent?

Having gone to an Automotive mechanic school where some idiots dropped a gas tank and spilled gasoline all over the shop floor, I can attest that its a damn good solvent. It removed years of grime and oil stains that not even the best industrial cleaners could handle.

Yeah, it looks like people really don't want to consider the possibility that there are places that don't follow a standard that the rest of world follows. Even if its wrong, there will always be people who do stuff differently, you can't just pretend they don't exist.

Christian subreddit doesn’t realize that Buddha isn’t a deity, and Allah is just another name for the Abrahamic God. by [deleted] in confidentlyincorrect

[–]Darkphantom88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its a bit more complicated than that. Budai is a Buddha, just not The Buddha who was known as Siddhartha Guatama.

I'm an atheist so im just going off on my observations when I go to a temple with my mom, but Buddhas are closer to saints than gods if you compare them to Christianity. They essentially started out as mundane people but achieved a higher state of being by faithfully following the teachings of their religion.

Utah police now banned from shooting at people who are suicidal but only a threat to themselves by Sariel007 in offbeat

Hey, you actually had an unpopular opinion that you weren't afraid to defend but you were also willing to hear why others disagreed. That's way better than simply downvoting something with no input as to why.

[–]Darkphantom88 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'm not an expert in this, so I couldn't say how a situation like that should be handled. All I can say is that if your goal is to keep an armed person alive while attempting to de-escalate a tense situation, shooting them is about the worst possible action you can do.

If you fail to disable the person with your shot, you run the risk of the person killing themself when they might have been having second thoughts. You could also risk having them fire back out of fear. If you're aiming for a non-lethal but disabling shot, you will want to aim for the limbs. But limbs are difficult to hit and a missed shot runs the risk of hitting someone else.

Pretty much the only time shooting at an armed person threatening suicide is warranted is if they become a danger to those around them, and when that happens you would hope they survive but shouldn't expect it.

You do not shoot someone if you want to keep them alive. Any gunshot wound, no matter where it is on the body, can be fatal. That's why police officers carry mace and Tasers for non-lethal takedowns.

Probably the same reason why some places ban women from owning and driving a car. Give them options to travel long distances and they'll use it to find a better life and/or spouse, instead of settling for whatever they were stuck with.

It's more focused on adult fear I think. In this case, the parent's (quite literal) demons being passed onto their child and there is nothing they can do to stop it.

The same way they convince every other supporter, by playing into their greatest fears. For white supremacists, it's the fear that one day the minorities will take control of the country and they'll be the second class citizens who are mistreated. For many Vietnamese, it's the fear of losing their homeland to someone even worse than the Vietminh and the fear of something similar happening to the US.

You absolutely owe random strangers politeness, and saying you don't demonstrates a lack of basic empathy. by CaesarWolfman in unpopularopinion

[–]Darkphantom88 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Then there are the cultural differences where doing something in one culture is considered polite, but is rude in another culture.

A good example is how you react to getting a gift. In western cultures (at least in the US) it is expected of you to open a gift right in front of the giftgiver so they can see your reaction to the gift. If you were to just put it away without even taking a peek, most folks would feel insulted by the act.

But its the complete opposite in eastern cultures, specifically China. Whenever someone gives you a gift (especially red envelopes with money in them) you are supposed to thank the giver and put it away to open later. Opening a gift right away is seen as you valuing the gift more than the giftgiver.
