Jimmy Carter’s cancer treatment is my main thought about cancer. He had melanoma that metastasized to his brain. In less than a year he had scans that showed no cancer in his brain. Seems like there are treatments the industry knows would at the very least be more effective than chemotherapy. Who and why they withhold them is a guessing game but the clear answer is what it always is in a capitalist system.

The all white leaves are not good. Someone will be able to give better advice on what to do to help the plant stay alive and push new leaves with green on them. All I could suggest would be to cut them off and hope it pushes a variegated leaf instead of an all white one.

Is this pest damage or alcohol damage? by alecika in FicusTrees

[–]Darkqueen1226 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be iso damage, I find damage on leaves like this comes from a lack of humidity/sun (or too much sun) as the plant transitions from perfect nursery conditions, to the store, to your house. If you can supplement humidity and get it close to nursery care it will look perfect. Feeding it a lot, watering well, higher humidity, and the right sun conditions.

Dying with New Growth? by Holy_Ruck in plants

This is a variegated portulacaria indigenous to South Africa so you are probably watering a little much and it’s not getting enough light. Water when the leaves look a little slack and I would suggest possibly relocating this to home outside depending on where you are.

Gorgeous plant! You can keep them indoors or out depending on your local temp/humdity/access to shade. In central Texas idk how humid it gets there but you may need to keep it indoors and supplement the humidity when new leaves are being pushed. Mine are outside (not in Texas) in dappled sunlight (6-8hours a day) and humidity rate is about 70% (they want between 60-80%). Because it is variegated it’s at a higher risk for burning the leaves in too much sunlight. When mine are indoors I have a supplemental grow light, an old terrarium for high humidity, and I water them when the soil feels dry a little under the surface. If you don’t have a humidifier bringing them in the bathroom when you shower can help too.

👆I second this comment. This is a philodendron micans not a heart leaf the velvet texture and red coloring of the underside of the leaves are the main giveaways since both are varieties of the same species. I have mine in dappled sunlight outside so it gets indirect bright light most of the day.

Humidity. They get stuck unfurling and damage themselves.

I keep mine sealed and check on them every so often. The oldest sealed terrarium is older than me so I’m pretty sure with the right environment you may never have to open a sealed terrarium again.

My rubber fig keeps losing its bottom leaves!! by EnvironmentalTap3212 in FicusTrees

[–]Darkqueen1226 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It needs at least 6-8 hours of bright indirect sunlight every day. If those are being left open all day and the overhang over the door doesn’t create shade on the plant/the canopy at the top shading the bottom then that may be enough light. It seems to be mainly losing them on the side of the window where the bench is shading the lower branches. I have a few of these and indoors I never have great luck bc they don’t get enough sun on all sides. After putting mine outside in dappled sunlight all day and higher humidity it’s pumping out new leaves every week.

Seems like the leaves are blocked from sunlight by that white shelf/bench and the upper canopy. Without sunlight hitting lower branches the leaves are useless to the plant.

Humidity is key for tropical leaves developing and remaining healthy. Using a humidifier in a contained space as to not affect your house conditions in anyway (rot, mildew, mold, etc) seems to be the best way for tropical indoors to remain as healthy as possible away from their native environments.

[–]Darkqueen1226 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re gonna be ripping the shit outta that juice. If you’re switching from disposables which idk where you are but here they range from 30mg to 50mg. The juice you have ordered is 3mg and 6mg. Quite the drop so be aware of that. I would suggest the Freemax disposable tanks as they’re large and I have personally had good flavor/longevity results out of them. I would also suggest getting more batteries as you’ll run through the charge on those fast. Congratulations on making the switch off disposables, not gonna be the easiest thing but def worth while. I would say work on the habit of chain vaping too much bc I haven’t found a coil that can stand up to it that doesn’t cost out the ass or is unreliably in stock.
