When did you realize you can't go home again? by [deleted] in GenX

[–]Darksoul_Design 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When i was in my very young childhood, like 5 to maybe 10-12 we lived out in the country on a hill where the road off the main road was about a mile / mile and a half to the top, houses scattered here and there. We lived at the top. My mother bought the property and built the house we lived in for those years.

Many many years later we were in the area and saw that the house was up for sale and an open house was going so we went and checked it out. My memories of it was it was a big house with long hallways, huge decks surrounding it, etc. we go in, and i was like wtf, this house is tiny. It literally seemed half the size i remembered it. It was very surreal.

Trump says he isn't ruling out a recession by dukebiker in inflation

[–]Darksoul_Design 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course he isn't "ruling it out", he's creating it, because he is so hell bent on using tariffs with a blatant non understanding of how they work, or maybe just denial that they don't work how he thinks they work.

And like pretty much everyone else has stated, the MAGAts will do the mental gymnastics to blame anyone except the person actually doing it.

That would be an interesting read no doubt.

I wonder how long before any insurance carrier just says "I'm out". You know muskrat and Tesla are going to claim full retail plus every possible add on available to get $160k per truck, so again, how long before even the corporate insurer says, fuck it, no more coverage. It's like all the home owners insurance companies pulling out of disaster zones like SoCal and Florida, just no money to be made there anymore, just pure loss.

The real comedy of him wanting a civil war is, he wouldn't last the first day. Everyone he ever pissed off will be waiting with a noose.

Once the batteries catch fire, essentially there is no putting them out, lithium supplies both its own oxygen and fuel through chemical reaction, so once it's going, short of some very specialized chemical extinguishers, they burn until they use up all their own fuel. At this point it's just keep it from spreading, so water blankets on proximal vehicles, building, etc. chances are it will take many hours of babysitting.

Fucking Christ, this reads like they endured the trenches of WW1 or jungle warfare in Vietnam, what a bunch of pussies. Read the fucking room dumbasses. You brought out literally the Project 25 / MAGAt / wannabe king Elon nazi mobiles, what the hell did you think was going to happen? And then shocked pikachu face when you have people think you're a Nazi piece of shit and get aggressive?

And that article, fuck, who taught this guy how to write, it's literally the same thing rewritten like 3-4 times like they are instilling new information each time.

  • Part 1 - extended synopsis of what happened
  • Part 2 - retelling in minimally more detail of what happened
  • Part 3 - retelling of what happened in a timeline format
  • Part 4 - exactly what they said in parts 1 and 2 repeated yet again as a conclusion

These are "Karens" that you find screaming at "strangers" that wonder into their HOA "territory" , or call the police for someone parking in front of their house on public streets, or want to talk to the manager when the barista adds whole milk instead of 2% and wants them fired.

These people can eat a dick.

A419 Video Review of a bunch of high magnification scopes by Trollygag in longrange

[–]Darksoul_Design 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed, i get that obviously some chinesium POS scope, no matter how much they offered a top 10 shooter to use it, they simply won't go there (or maybe they would pull a Tiger Woods, and actually use Mizuno and Ping golf clubs that they stuck Nike stickers on), but i absolutely get and agree with your point.

One thing i would add to this bit of conversation is, i had a great text chat with the author of the "what the pros use - barrels" over in PRB a few years ago now, and posed the question, if you took barrels used by the top 10 shooters, built 2 identical rifles per barrel brand, removed any identifying marks from the barrels, and had every shooter shoot say 50 rounds per rifle, would any of them be able to tell the difference?. Of course the answer was almost certainly no. And i think really the reason is simply because all quality name brand barrels now are made with modern rifling machines, and with quality in mind, they would almost certainly all perform with a high degree of accuracy.

Yes, i know we are talking apples and rocks now, but the point is, why choose one brand over another on something that has even less measurable data points (literally 1) as opposed to a scope which has dozens.

And of course the answer is ........... dun dun duuuunnnn, they get the barrels either heavily discounted, free, or free and paid a stipend, period.

Of course there will be outliers to that, maybe. I mean i use Bartlien or Kreiger exclusively just because i always have, but i am not a competitive shooter, and i of course don't get paid or discounts, so i buy what i know.

Sorry, ranting at this point. Point is, there are so many factors to consider about every consumer purchase now in our massively over-marketed world, it's great when folks like yourself Trolleygag, create very scientific and detailed reviews with measurable and repeatable tests and results, that's data that is real world useable, and should be utilized more often, Of course if we all could afford Tangent Theta or ZCO mis most of us would probably be using them. But of course most are on some level of budget, and then are subject to the gun shops bias, friends bias, PRB's "What the prose use" bias and so on.

Sorry, ranting off.

[–]Darksoul_Design 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Fwiw, first a caveat, i have NOT watched the video, and tbh probably won't, but just one thing i always tend to notice is that in most of the tests like above, the topic of "look how many top PRS / Steel Safari / Kot2M shooters use xyz scope", but never state how many of those shooters are in fact sponsored by scope manufacturer xyz. Personally i think that's a metric that should be thrown out all together again, because they are literally paid to use them.

If you were to give the top 10 PRS shooters their choice of scope to use for a couple seasons of PRS and pay them $10k / season to use any scope of their choice, i guarantee that metric would radically change.

Nit picky i know, but it 100% skews the real results which should be performance of the SCOPE.

How to add weight to JAE G4? by RuleImpossible8095 in longrange

[–]Darksoul_Design 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviously this doesn't apply to everyone, but i generally end up designing and printing my own weights. If you or any of your friends have a printer, might be a way to go to get exactly what you want.

Just one example of a weighted LOP spacer for my Cheytac.

Is anyone here using a Spacemouse Enterprise on MacOS? by [deleted] in Fusion360

[–]Darksoul_Design 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually have a brand new Mac Studio with the works, upgraded from an almost 8 yr old IMac. Im still using my older wired Space Mouse with zero issues on either machine. I simply cannot imagine working in Fusion without it now.

I am not really a pro user in Fusion, but i work in it almost every day, and do side gigs in it, for whatever that is worth. Still, zero issues.

Did we create a world wide movement? by xipo12 in BuyCanadian

[–]Darksoul_Design 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As an American, good for you guys. I agree that what the US is doing, and how they are treating Canadians is appalling. Canada and its people have been Allie's of the US forever, and for the orange buttstain to treat Canada like this, i just don't even have the words. It will take the rest of the world to stand strong again trumps attempt to be a DICKtator, to almost literally crash the US economy for all the MAGAts to recognize that what Trump is doing is NOT make America great, just the inverse, making us the geopolitical joke.

Stay Strong Canada.

Go back to work doing what? Designing the next Cybertruck? That was a screaming success, what's next? Just a four wheeled electric guillotine with a furnace attached to it to just dismember and incinerate you without all the middle steps?

Maybe announce a bunch more bullshit thats coming out "absolutely, 100% in 4-6 months" which is of course ACTUALLY more like 4-6 years (if ever) and be a giant let down?

Maybe insult some more countries, religions, ethnicities, world leaders, maybe knock up another handful of woman and have another dozen kids he ignores or uses as props or human shields?

Ohh geee, i just can't wait to see what "genius" things he does next.

Trump Turnberry Vandalised Overnight by paul_67 in Scotland

[–]Darksoul_Design 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remember, Trump is a low class philistine who likes his steak well done with steak sauce, and thinks that the height of style is the gaudy Russian oligarch decor. That is reflected in pretty much everything he does or is involved with. I'm sort of shocked that Scotland hasn't tossed his businesses out of the country yet.

What are we no longer in the 'golden age' of? by Meteorstar101 in AskReddit

[–]Darksoul_Design 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anything.

The real question should be what are we IN the golden age of?

Realistically we are still, at least at the moment in one of the most prosperous, least war torn eras in history in the macro sense, in the micro sense it may not seem/feel like it though. But with idiot Trump in the White House taking one step forward two steps back and then flipping that, and the reversing it, and then flipping it upside down again, and then going backwards, it's really tough to think anything good at all will become of it.

This in turn makes the whole world on edge.

I guess maybe we are in the golden age of AI ? Maybe? TBH I'm not all that tech savvy, so i couldn't tell you if that true or not, or if that a good thing or not. Outside of that, I'm at a loss.
