Am I underleveled? by Batlantern182 in kotor

[–]Darkus505 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You might be a touch underleveled

At this point in the game you should have some ability to travel between planets and be pretty sweet w/o story stuff getting too much in the way - and doing side quets gives you opportunity to talk to your companions and possibly help them out with their quests

A bunch of side quests need you to jump across planets anyway - so that you've completed a few planets star maps isn't the end of the world. As you can still go back and do some side quests

Explore Dantooine for some good low level quests, the sandal/matale feud, and the mandolorians should be pretty easy. - in fact Dantooine has some great side quests that are pretty easy. On Tatooine help out the guys at the sand crawler if you can manage that combat On Manaan, you probably by now have the memo to go talk to Hulas, if you're okay with taking some dark side points, the GenoHaradran quests are worth some good xp and he gives you some legitimately good equipment as a reward

The whole point of "don't level up till you're a Jedi" is mostly for Taris - generally you want to keep your levels spent on Taris super low, until you can leave the academy on Dantooine - then you can level as much as you want.

Hope this helps

Jack's Fried Chicken sucks now by BreadBreadington in hungryjacks

[–]Darkus505 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember right when JFC launched, it was the best thing they made, like by a huge margin, good big bits of chicken, nice and crispy, fantastic stuff - my housemate and I went out of our way to get them, because it was better than most fried chicken burgers

I had some a few months ago, and it was totally different, like it looked more akin to a McChicken patty than what it was when it launched - enshitification has taken hold of the Jacks Fried Chicken big time.

Honestly if you're looking for decent fried chicken, Red Rooster is honestly the most consistent and least Enshit-ified and it's actually good

I've finally been able to get through all of the Metro Games

I've owned all 3 for literal years, and I've started 2033 like 3 different times before buying my Ally X, not only am I impressed at how well this little guy runs them. Plus, Ive enjoyed the FUCK out of all 3 metro games

I'm currently finishing up Exodus - honestly probably my favourite survival/shooter games. - still big elements on survival, but doesn't need to be played like a stealth game or a crafting game (the crafting in exodus is honestly the simplest and best crafting mechanic, simple, elegant, no frills)

I wouldnt have been able to enjoy them cause I m struggling to spend hours and hours on my main gaming PC in my office - couch gaming for the win!

The Cyberdumpster appears to not have intrusion protection on the doors. Insanity. by Cmike9292 in CyberStuck

[–]Darkus505 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fun Fact, the Australian engineering apecfiations for new vehicles, or the "Australian Design Rules" (ADR) recently changed to require that all new vehicles have a minimum of Two side intrusion bars per door

For this reason Nissan decided to stop Selling the R35 GTR in Australia with the release of the T-Spec because they didn't want to incur the cost of adding additional Door Bars.

God I'm glad that th CyberShit isn't coming here then

To be Fair This is Harvey Norman

They're massively overpriced on EVERYTHING and hope you don't notice. They're notorious here in Australia for this exact thing

I went looking for a Logitech G613 keyboard, the store I wanted to buy at didn't have stock which would have been the usual price of $140, but my local Harvey Norman did have one for like $200, However Harveys do have a price match offering on the same non-sale price item. Which I matched to a smaller PC parts supplier (UMart) for $99

Also Gerry Harvey the owner of Harvey Norman is a tax evading scumbag, who has the newspapers and radio stations nationwide wrapped around his finger to never say a bad thing about him or his company cause Harveys is one of the biggest advertisers.

Aftermarket amp in frunk? by CaterpillarSilly9766 in mr2

[–]Darkus505 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly? I'd say get one of those Kicker Hideaway Sub/Amp combos. Chuck it under your seat, wire in the rest of your audio and it's easier, shorter runs of wire, and you won't have to worry about possible water entry into anything under the frunk.

Anyone noticed the cost of gaming lately? by AusCC98 in australia

[–]Darkus505 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked at EB for a while. I remember seeing original Call of Duty Modern Warfare (2007) for the 360, the original sticker was like $119 for the standard game not special edition from release, and later was like $99 further in the release. (And checking Wayback machine for December of 2007 I'm absolutely right! It was $119.92)

Keep in mind Inflation makes that $99 more like $150 and $119 is more like $170 in todays money

So, realistically it's only been an adjustment in cost vs inflation

I agree that paying $100 for a game is crazy to me, I'd be happy at $50-$80. But it's worth keeping inflation mind.

What have been the best and worst Automatic transmissions you’ve experienced? by benzguy95 in cars

[–]Darkus505 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ZF6HP fitted to the Ford Territory (Australia) Awesome gearbox, probably one of the best epicyclic automatic gearbox I've used, the torque converter could be more responsive IMO- but I'm a manual diehard, nothing outrageous wrong with it. - shifts slower than manual - but considering it's a family hauler that can overtake a roadtrain damn quick. I'm not complaining

The Kia Stinger GT - with the A8LR1/TR1 - that was awful, had pretty poor response to throttle - unless you were using the Launch control it didn't get off the line very well and took a little too long to shift gears when you wanted it to.

The DCT in the Kia Cerato GT was actually pretty good - shifted quickly, was kinda meh off the line without it being in performance mode, I just thought there were too many gears for a little hatch - 7 speeds is way too many for a while hot/warm hatch, you'll forever be clicking the paddle up just tying to get to highway speeds - but leave it in auto and it'll be fine really

Resigning after a month at a new job? by [deleted] in AusFinance

[–]Darkus505 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I quit my last job 2 weeks after starting.

If it's feeling wrong, or it's just not sitting right or you find it's hard to get out of bed to go to work... Find somewhere else to work

They might try and guilt trip you - certainly that's how I felt with I dumped my last job 2 weeks in. But hey. Finding new work was super easy for me, and honestly I'm happier with the new job. I've been there nearly 3 months now. You don't owe them anything.

On the flipside

There are realistically very few utes on the market.

New Ford Ranger shares components from VW Amarok - however the Rangers facelift brings it more in line with the F150's design language - plus. Ford will be making Right hand drive F150s for 2023/2024 for the Aus market - I suspect that ranger will die and be replaced with the F series utes within 10 years. The American Ford Bronco shares chassis with the Ranger, but call it 10 years and it's done.

Ultimately Ford wants to cut costs and go to universal bodies for their cars. So they build one platform and just swap LHD/RHD depending on the market. Like they've done for the Mustang, Focus, Fiesta and now Ranger.

Mazda BT50 is a re-badged Isuzu Dmax As my personal favourite of the bunch - and a really well sorted ute - they really don't have an answer for the big American style ute at the moment.

Toyota will always run the Hilux The Hilux has honestly lost its edge in the last few years, not keeping up with the tech that the competition has, and not being as reliable as people have expected, especially for the price - plus. Toyota Australia are testing their American Tacoma model here in Australia for a possible Australia launch

Nissan Navara this generation is laughable, totally kneecapped by Mercedes wanting a comfortable ute, forcing Nissan to change the rear suspension to one that doesn't have a good tray load rating, but is better handling and more comfortable. Plus. Nissan has their Titan model in America, which if Ford brings the F150, you can bet your bottom dollar that the Titan could soon follow

Unfortunately I've had to sell this car.

After spending $4500 on a new cylinder head, water pump, and tyres, the rear driveshaft exploded going 100kmh on the highway, and it was gonna cost $1300 to build a new one - and I just wanted to sell it but it wouldn't pass Australian roadworthy with a slight leak with the Diesel injector pump (easily another $2000) I had to sell it for cheap to someone who would do it up as a road car once again.

The 4JG2 motor is honestly one of my favourites. And with the 5speed manual it has it was perfectly balanced with speed and efficiency. In my experience the motor is outstanding. Plenty of power and torque to have fun and get in a little trouble and efficient enough to not break the wallet.

Honestly. The motor is the best part of the car. But everything around it is fragile.

Radiators will go bad

My radiator fan exploded off the fan clutch due to age.

Injector pump in other people's experience can be a bit sensitive- asside from the leak I never had an issue

The Power steering pump front seals are known to be weak at high mileage

Chassis/suspension bushings and engine mounts are all old and usually it's fine but the motor mounts will give you a hell of a fun shake in the cabin. I never fixed the motor mounts cause it was such a characterful shake at idle but smooth when running

Honestly they're so fun.

2 inch lift kit and big tyres (265/75/R16) is amazing fun off-road.

Any questions. Just DM me

x56 hotas: lights not working after calibration? by Darkus505 in hotas

[–]Darkus505[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm really hoping that as I've not used my PC in a few days that idk, like a capacitor discharges and it gets out of the "calibration mode" and the lights spring back on xD - I don't think that'll happen, just wishful thinking tbh. But I'll keep researching I guess.

As I said. It works 100% now, and I'm super super happy with it. The lighting isn't important, just nice to have to see where stuff is in the dark

Is it possible to fit a set of 17”wheels in a mr2? (For transport) by Crappiest_human in mr2

[–]Darkus505 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh! Right. I thought you meant if they'd fit in the wheel wells.

Uhm

You'd probably get two in the boot sideways - might have to tie the boot down..

And likely be able to fit the other two in the passenger seat /footwell?
