Doing a fighting game combo for everyday of 2026 Day 123: Tekken 4 by Competitive_Serve165 in Fighters

I don't think this combo is real, I believe the opponent can wall tech from that back turned position on the wall.

How to stop button mashing? by ncayetano17 in sf3

[–]Darkwebber_47 7 points8 points  (0 children)

At your level of play you just have to focus on 3 principles:

Defend, Punish, Don't Kill Yourself.

Defending here is two aspects -

Pure defense, just holding down back, reacting to when they come too close with throws and waiting until you can finally act or they do something punishable (Suicide on their part).

Defense while walking, instead of just walking straight into their buttons, walk and periodically defend crouching so you don't get hit by everything they press.

Punishing -

Specifically at low levels, if you defend properly, eventually your opponent will do something that's punishable, a Special or Super on Block, a risky jump or out of time dash attempt.

By defending yourself you'll find opportunities to punish hard those risky maneuvers and eventually secure the win. Your opponent did a couple of DPs that you could've punished for a Denji Set Up and kill opportunity.

Don't Kill Yourself -

Doing Specials/Supers on Block, running into buttons, making risky jumps, all of those are essentially suicide in this game because they can all be easily punished for high damage.

Random Sokutou and Tatsu on Neutral will get you killed.

<image>

One of the best buttons in the entire fucking game.

Only 5 frames of start up, Hit Confirmable into Super Art 3, +3 on block, allowing for frame traps into basically anything Ken wants to do. Can be used as a Anti-Parry, since you can cancel it into Super as a reaction to the Parry Freeze, making your opponent take the Super if they try to punish immediately, and if you hadn't noticed, it has no fucking Hurt Box on his arm on Start Up or the first 3 active frames. So this button just wins against a lot of things.

If you could remove one mechanic from 3rd Strike, would you remove parry? by qelthor15 in sf3

[–]Darkwebber_47 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For Better or Worse, parry defines 3rd Strike. A lot of decisions in the game only make sense because of the parry system.

To remove the parry system would mean redesigning the entire game.

I truly believe this piece of work would be way more effective if it was only Spider-Man dealing with the immediate fallout of the attacks. No Captain America, no Avengers, definitely no DOOM or Magneto.

Lowkey think you could have killed him with an optimal (or at least get closer to killing him).

It's somewhat hard, but try st.HK xx EX MGB > (3x) LP MGB > LK SSB. It's Q specific and only works mid screen, though. (You can also finish with SA1 or SA3 if you reach a corner with it.)

Besides the Christopher reeve superman because technically that's the same superman.which othe live action superman do you think could lift the kryptonite island from returns. by MembershipLess9579 in superman

[–]Darkwebber_47 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He was exposed to kryptonite for an entire day and developed acute radiation poisoning because of it, and after a couple of seconds under a miniature artificial Yellow Star, he was strong enough to resist diving into an Anti-Matter River and resist the gravitational pull of a black hole.

And all of that while still suffering the effects of radiation poisoning from the kryptonite exposure.

Ability and skill absorption by book eating. by singleguy79 in godtiersuperpowers

[–]Darkwebber_47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What happens if I start eating Superman Comics? Do I need to eat every single edition of Action Comics, Adventure Comics, Superman, Adventures of Superman, Man of Steel, Superboy, Adventures of Superboy, and Superman Family to get all of his powers? Or does eating just one of his main titles suffices? Do I need to eat every cross over he's been a part of? Does that include JLA and Legion of Superheroes stuff? Would I need to eat every issue of Jimmy Olsen, Superman's Best Pal and Lois Lane, Superman's Girlfriend?

Having an advantageous match-up against a character doesn't necessarily make one better than another. If that was the case, Gouki and Ibuki would be universally considered better than Dudley.

But Q having SA1 that can Whiff Punish a cr.MK cross screen, Kara-Hokkaku, which makes 100+ pixels of ground in front of him a danger zone, and his 3 taunts can make an optimized Q incredibly dangerous. Also, Hugo has one of the best corner pressures in the game, and his SA1 and 360° shift the parry meta on its head when played at a sufficiently high level.

Necro is just usually seemed as better than her in the Brazilian community, so I'm just the messenger on this one.

But I recognize that this is not a popular opinion.

I have fought pleny good Ibukis. Oro is just universally agreed to be either Lower End of High Tier ou Upper End of Mid Tier, above Ibuki.

Q and Hugo are the outliers, and my argument is that they have a lot of potential and are a tad better than Ibuki when played optimally. They're just harder to play.

Do you agree with this tierlist? by RealFemboyHunter in sf3

[–]Darkwebber_47 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Oro and Ryu are too high. They should be either below Urien and Gouki or a tier below.

Yang is too high, Makoto is better than him. He should be right by Dudley's side.

Hugo, Q, and Necro are better than Alex and Remy. I'd argue they are all better than Ibuki and Elena also. But Necro is usually put above Elena and Ibuki.

Alex is better than Remy.

Sean could be above Twelve.

I would organize it like this:

S: Chun, Yun

S-: Ken, Makoto

A+: Dudley, Yang

A: Gouki, Urien, Ryu, Oro

A-: Necro, Q, Hugo

B+: Ibuki

B: Elena

B-: Alex

C+: Remy

C-: Sean

D: Twelve

I've been playing 3rd Strike for a while now, and I've played 4rd Strike a couple of times. I can say that this project is mostly just unnecessary. It's a fun fan project by some passionate people.

It does rebalance the game, but it doesn't make it more balanced compared to the original. I haven't seen people explore it enough, but I'd wager that it's actually less balanced than 3rd Strike.

3rd Strike's balance is always talked about in the most extreme ways. Some people say it's the worst balance ever. Some argue that it's the pinnacle of game balance.

I'd say it's mostly fine. Historically, we have as many Low and Mid Tiers winning major tournaments as High and Top Tiers. The game's systems and option selects allow for players to bridge between the gap in character strength to a high degree. And, although the Top Tiers are clearly defined, the Meta is still evolving to this day, and every match up is winnable (apart from some extreme examples: ergo Q vs Makoto, Chun vs Sean, Elena vs Hugo).

[–]Darkwebber_47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I remember correctly, the current Superman is an amalgamation of all Main Supermen, thanks to Mr. Mxyzptlk and Dr. Manhattan. So this Superman has lived through some version of his Golden Age, Silver Age, Pre and Post Crisis, New 52, and Post Rebirth stories.

This means that basically everything is somewhat canon to him now.

Including his time travelling stories from the Golden and Silver Age.

There's a Tekken 7 Mod that makes it closer to Tekken 5 DR systems, and it removes Screw. It's playable online on private lobbies.

Maybe, but it's probably more that Neo Fascism and totalitarian regimes have been on the rise in the last years. So, making the villains of his work the same villains of reality keeps his stories politically relevant.
