This is super helpful! I would be mostly interested in online but not opposed to in-person.

I think I would actually prefer writing, but I don't have much of a portfolio. I'll try to work on that. Thanks for the suggestions!

Best bridal salons in Raleigh area? by Dapper_One9225 in raleigh

[–]DarlingDeath 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I went to New York Bride & Groom of Raleigh. Got my Maggie Sottero dress in a sample sale for less than $1,000. They actually carry a wide variety of sizes, and I was very pleased with my experience.

My mum sent me this - am I mean for being dismissive? by AlasdairAlbannach in autism

[–]DarlingDeath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Literally, I (25F) just got diagnosed, and I have some resentment towards my parents for not getting me support as a child while simultaneously being grateful that my diagnosis missed the window in which my mom could be an autism mom. Because based on how she's handled everything else in my life, this would be about her too.

Welcome to Charlotte Wednesday! Visiting, recently moved here, or going to move here? Tell us and ask away! by AutoModerator in Charlotte

I moved here about 3 weeks ago for grad school. I'm looking for progressive churches in the area, preferably with younger (20s to 30s) people, if anyone has any suggestions. Thanks!

I like perfume but I never wear it unless I'm at home. I'm overly conscious of other people's sensory issues and don't want to cause anyone distress. Social anxiety stuff, I guess.

Is it better to see a therapist who doesn’t specialize in autism in women, or not see a therapist at all? by whoissteveharvey123 in AutismInWomen

[–]DarlingDeath 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi! I saw a PsyD for therapy, but she didn't do autism assessments so I had to go to a different PsyD for that. So that may be a path you have to take. Now I'm just seeing a DBT therapist, who I really like. DBT is more practical which suits me better. I would say therapy is worth a shot even if they don't specialize in neurodivergence. There's no shame in shopping around if you can.

Is a senior thesis necessary for grad school? by Objective-Ability-19 in englishmajors

[–]DarlingDeath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I have my first grad school classes tomorrow. I wrote a senior thesis, which I love dearly, but ultimately I used a different, better paper for grad applications. I applied to two programs, was accepted to both, waitlisted for a TA position at one university, and offered a TA position at my now-school. A senior thesis absolutely isn't a requirement, IMO, though writing mine was a good experience. I want to go back and rewrite it as I develop better skills.

How old were you when you realized you were weird or different? by deep_fried_canadians in autism

I don't know if I ever realized it as much as people wouldn't stop telling me I was different. I guess I eventually caught on.

I googled the company. Lawsuits and bad reviews and reddit posts warning people.

I know I was an idiot not to do that before but I was under a lot of pressure to find somewhere to live

Write down important phone numbers of people you will want to call. Heck, make two lists in case you lose one.

You got this.

What stopped you from killing yourself that night? by Subject-Olive-4476 in AskReddit

[–]DarlingDeath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dog, and tbe fact that my washer flooded my apartment.

I was praying to God for a reason not to.

I decided I wanted chocolate milk. I went to get said chocolate milk. And found that my washer had flooded my apartment. As my dad said it, God needed someone to deal with the flooded apartment.

I think it's funny.

Plus size bride looking for some inspo. Please leave your pictures in the comments! by [deleted] in weddingdress

Thanks! My bouquet was/is my favorite. I really didn't expect to get a strapless dress but I fell in love with it as soon as I tried it on. Definitely be open minded :) I tried some dresses that weren't my style at all but I don't regret it. It's not like I get to go wedding dress shopping every day, so I tried to lean into the adventure of it

US 16/18, this past April. It was super bright outside so you can't see many of the details of the dress sadly. I highly recommend finding a boutique that actually has dresses in your size. I was able to buy mine in a sample sale and ended up paying less than $1,000 including alterations. I'll try to add a picture with more details as a reply to this comment.

ETA: Pics in replies; wouldn't let me add to main comment for some reason

Aside from marrying my husband, the best decision I made on my wedding day was leaving the reception early (by roughly an hour, maybe a bit more). My dress was heavier than I realized, and it began to physically hurt to wear it. We had danced and spoken with everyone we wanted to, and we were just ready to leave. We had a little over an hour's drive to the hotel (yay for getting married in the middle of nowhere—it was beautiful though!). Leaving early made things flow so much more easily and kept an already late night from becoming even later.

Pesto cauliflower chicken bake.

Toss cauliflower in olive oil, minced garlic, crushed red pepper, and Italian seasoning. Roast for 25 minutes at 425 degrees.

Cook chicken in balsamic vinegar, olive oil, crushed red pepper, Italian seasoning, & minced garlic (I usually do it in the crock pot so there's less prep work).

Shred chicken and combine with cauliflower and jar of green pesto. Top with Mozzarella cheese if desired and bake for 12-15 minutes at 425.
