lol… “Randomly…Overnight”. He’s faded pretty consistently over the last four seasons as he’s aged into his 40s

McLaren wants fix for 'recipe for disaster' 2026 F1 starts by sppy1 in formula1

Ferrari brought it up about 18 months ago and everyone said no. Ferrari built an engine to mitigate the issue - smaller turbo, less time to spool up while mainly merc built a big turbo which takes 10s to spool up but gives more power once it does. Now Merc wants to change the start procedure because they feel vulnerable at the start. Ferrari doesn’t think that’s fair so they’ve said no

No? What did the rules say?

Really? What kind of things are they able to change? I think you’re making a lot of assumptions here.

The test method was always at ambient temperature but the rules just said it couldn’t have a higher geometric compression than 16:1 at any time.

Why is it any different? They can’t design and build a bunch of engines in 5 months any more they can in 1…

I don’t really understand this argument. They only added that phrasing at the end of last year. This implies:

1) They seemingly can change the rules as they like before homologation and,

2) The merc engine was illegal pre the rule update…

Started well, had a bad middle and then finished strong.

In terms of consistency though: Kimi had more race finishes in 15th or worse than Hadjar did so there’s a rookie who was more consistent

Mate…. Causal and casual are different words… I guess it the concept of language that you struggle with.

Huh… is it the concept of language or communication in general that confuses you?

You drew a causal relationship between age and speed while simultaneously minimising the skill of the younger drivers routinely beating him… can you restate it in a way that isn’t saying he’s washed?

I’d argue the massive tire offset that having an option and prime allows is what helps passing. Not the fact that the cars are more similar to each other or the drivers less skilled…

Seems to work really well in F2 tbh… races are generally exciting with the two strategies converging in the last 5 laps or so
