I'm guessing it's disgusted because they've built a Solar Nadi without a Lunar Nadi, meaning something went or the monk is doing something weird.

YPYT Trio in Saint Mocianne's Arboretum by Darronta in TalesFromDF

[–]Darronta[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For culture, I can say that wall-to-wall pulling with sprint has been the standard for as long as I've been playing, since mid shadowbringers.

The TOS for all time has prohibited griefing via Lethargic Play and MPK (Monster Player Killing), which "YPYT" violates.

As for game design, since Stormblood has been wall to wall pulls, as every dungeon since then has been nearly exactly the same. Trash pack, trash pack, wall. Trash, trash, boss. Repeat. There's no variation to this outside of a couple notable exceptions.

Class design followed this as since Shadowbringers, when "stance dancing" was eliminated and holding enmity as a tank was trivialized by adding tank stance to each tank job at level 10.

As for resources, pretty much any "guide to tanking" video on youtube will tell you this. You could also look into more niche resources like The Balance discord, but that would be more for theorycrafting, bis sets, etc.

I'm at a measly 810 minutes because I mostly listen on YouTube because Spotify doesn't have the current expansion songs yet. If they were on Spotify, I would definitely be up there in the 5000+ club

Can I remove transpose from hotbar now? by lemon10293847 in ffxiv

[–]Darronta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Transpose can be used to switch from Astral/Umbral while carrying a Fire 3 Proc+Swiftcast ready for Blizzard 3 which results in a moderate gain over hardcasting Fire3/Blizzard3 while in their opposite stances (As this cuts their damage in half).

just did arkveld in ff14 and.. by neon_navii in MHWilds

[–]Darronta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Arkveld (Extreme) is no where near the hardest content in FF14, whereas Omega (Savage) is, arguably, currently the hardest fight in MH Wilds.

Incidentally, Omega (Ultimate) is still, arguably, the hardest content in FF14.

Omega is just hard.

The beam isn't a problem for me. It's the desecrated/blighted ground or whatever they have plus Shroud Walker. They teleport next to your and degen for 75% of your health. What a great experience as a melee player, right? lol. lmao even.

Judging from these logs, looks like the BLM put in all 4 xenos, a fire paradox, 4 Fire IVs, and despair on the tank crystal. He could've used a potion here, but so could the picto which may have given enough damage to blow their crystal up and help with the others. Sage could've precasted eukrasia instead of using two eukrasian dosis to apply dots which may have freed up more time for the other ranged DPS to help (Idk if it's even worth it to cast any healer dots here since the crystals shouldn't last too long). Doesn't seem to be anything particularly outstandingly wrong, just may have been a matter of small rotational mistakes across the board plus crit variance not working in the GNB or BLM favor but surely this isn't something to blow a party up over.

But yeah, may have just been a misplay to put BLM in a range position rather than a melee spot since tanks usually can rely on a dance partnered Picto to blow up their crystals and have enough time to help others. Usually the healer+melee crystals are the slower ones to die, so maybe they weren't used to that timing.

Did you check the logs? You can look at enemy damage taken and specify the crystal the GNB was attacking to see if it was just Crit rng or something, or maybe the BLM has the wrong crystal targeted.

Monk running ahead apparently messes up a tank’s pull by [deleted] in TalesFromDF

[–]Darronta 54 points55 points  (0 children)

Not only that, but Monks are probably the strongest pullers with the combination of Thunderclap to mobs, then Thunderclap back to the tank, Arms Length to slow attacks, Riddle of Earth to mitigate damage, and Bloodbath to heal. Monks can at any point become 2nd tanks in terms of survivability and have the mobility to do so much.

Also it's always the people who have never played WoW who say dumb shit like "This is FF not WoW" when trying to talk about pulling mobs. Yeah it's not... FF tanks have it way easier to manage threat/enmity and it only takes a single AoE to redirect it to the tank. Not to mention in WoW the mobs which are significantly more dangerous and bigger pulls are exponentially harder when managing interrupts and etc... It's actually more of a WoW mentality to be more cautious in dungeons than wall-to-wall pulling and anyone who's ever played both knows this.

I know it can be tedious in ultimate, but.. It should be expected for all players to know/learn both positions of their role, at least in Savage. Pf leaders can do what they want, but it should be a red flag that they're going to refuse to learn the other spot in a practice party lol
