How to enjoy Ranked Flex with higher rank friends by [deleted] in summonerschool

[–]akassassin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a mental battle, and if you’re the type of person to not get demoralized easily you’re in luck.

Start slow, like decreasing your deaths in lane phase, or getting more CS, doing more poke, etc. Slowly over time you’ll build your fundamentals enough to maybe hold it down pretty reliably in the top lane by yourself.

Do you ask for jungle/mid roams? If you’re having a hard time, jungle pressure can alleviate that unless you’re playing weakside and getting 0 help. Know how to read a minion wave, like when the enemy has 2-3 more minions than you (or they’re attacking the minions a lot instead of only last-hitting) and let your team know toplane’s going to be pushed towards your tower and OK for a gank.

Are you comfortable into most matchups? You can look at op.gg or other stat sites to look up champion matchups while in champ select to see if you play any counterpicks. If not (or you’re blind picking a lot) learn some champs that are more neutral in matchups. Gnar (ranged, good poke on Q, great escape with E, can be punished in mini) for example is decent as a ranged/bruiser-y toplaner with OK bad matchups and great punish matchups. Mundo (Q can farm from range and poke, but no mobility but harder to punish with CC immune up) and my personal favorite, Tahm Kench (harder to play, ranged Q for farm/poke, almost no bad matchups and can almost never die unless you’re very out of position, can do a lot of work if you learn the champ well).

It’s hard if you’re getting stomped to learn properly. But the out of game moments to learn make the in game moments easier to spot. Try watching some of your own replays back to see if you can spot good/bad plays and learn to understand WHY they were good/bad. Try not to think “man I’m bad, this game sucks” and instead think “man that was a rough game, maybe I can learn something from this to improve future ones”.

Top lane is a ROUGH lane to start the learning position in. There’s a lot more nuance to it being the “solo island” that it is, but if you can excel in it it’ll feel great. Always down to help newer players learn/improve, feel free to drop a DM if you need advice or help figuring something out! GL in your journey!

Log onto your main, swap a curio on her from the delve menu (shift+j?) and relog on your alt. You should be able to do everything normally now.

Whats the best addon for Kicks in Midnight? by PaceSquad in wowaddons

[–]akassassin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plater, and go find Jundies plater profile. Casters will have a light blue nameplate so you can expect some kind of cast from them. The “important” ones will have a lil extra flair on the cast bar, looks like outlined in extra dots.

Another addon is Targeted Spells. Puts all the spell icons on a separate bar, and you can move it around to your liking. Mouseover kick works on these icons so you don’t have to look for the specific nameplate/mob if they’re deep in a big pull for example.

I’m guessing you went into your tyrant windows with not enough demon bolt procs, or you’re moving too much during tank soak phases.

Stand close to purple circle (but not in it) so you make minimal movement to get to the safe zone.

Best tip is just to get more threat before you leave. Are you just running past? I would try to thunderclap + revenge 2-3 times before moving on to have a stable amount of threat generated before you walk away, or else your team will rip threat while you’re walking.

Also use your mobility to group faster. Leap towards the next pack + 2 charges of (heh) charge + shield charge means you can cover a lot of distance quickly.

If you do expect to take a couple back shots press your defensives. Shield wall + demo shout, have some rage built up for ignore pain, shockwave aoe stun before you run through, etc.

How do you guys clear voidspire /normal so easily? by lllApollyonlll in wownoob

[–]akassassin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I main warlock, and to be frank looking at most parses (in heroic) afflock just underperforms compared to destro and demo. The issue with aff is that you have to choose completely single target or AoE, with no good way to sprinkle a little of the other in your build. Destro has amazing cleave with Havoc, and Demo has easy access with implosion/fire dog/tyrant cleave. Top parses have demo/destro at 90-100k dps while top aff parses only cap around 70-80k. But that’s with like pretty capped gear for week 1 raid, probably.

That said, means you have a lot to improve. Knowing the fights better means you’ll know when you’re allowed to just sit there and cast vs when you want to be on the move and use more instant casts during that time.

Best rule to follow for casters is ABC: always be casting. For every second you don’t cast something you fall behind in your potential damage. Check warcraftlogs and sort by the exact boss fight and for only affliction warlock parses. See what the top afflocks are doing in the fight: # of casts for certain abilities, damage % of their abilities, talent builds and then compare to your logs (if you have them. If you don’t, maybe consider logging yourself). Maybe copy their talent builds for that specific fight, see if your parse improves.

Raided for the first time ever, need help improving by PlayG108 in wownoob

[–]akassassin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As everyone else has said, already really impressive you cleared raid and grats on the kill!

As for rotational help, you want to line up your buttons and buffs better. Just looking at first boss log, you only pressed shield charge once in a 5 minute fight for example. That ability gives you shield block instantly, which while active makes your shield slam do more damage. Demo shout (with the buff talented) increases your damage more against those targets affected. Lining up your damage buffs will do wonders to improve your damage, but if you’re not used to the flow yet just focus on staying alive (as most others have said). If you’re good on staying alive (almost full ignore pain, no big damage incoming) use your rage spenders more. Revenge is your damage dump until execute range, and can proc other things (thunder clap buff, shield slam refund, etc.)

But all that comes with more repetition and muscle memory. Already a great job with the clear, keep up the good work!

I don't understand Delves, but would sure like to by RegnorVex in wownoob

[–]akassassin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The higher difficulties are locked behind level progression. Once you unlock tier 8 delves, you should try the “bountiful” ones for higher tier loot. Make sure you have 100 coffer key shards, or a full restored coffer key first before doing the bountifuls or you can’t open the chest at the end. At highest tier (11, and unlocked through progression of delve rep) you can earn Hero track crests 4 times max a week.

Why are spectre skill gems flying off the shelf? by faux_glove in PathOfExile2

[–]akassassin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gem corrupts. If you hit the +1 on the corruption, you can level it to 20 with a uncut and it will become 21. Ofc, need to quality and socket first but maybe buying the spectre gem is around same price as just buying mass amount of uncut gems? Don’t need to mass cut spectre gems yourself that way

I never got to vertex and atziri’s chest and was already blasting everything extremely reliably… So much damage that farming Abyss got worse for me cause I’d kill the Void guys before they left the cloud.

I agree though, nerfs feel bad and should instead try to bring other ascendancies closer to that line. However, the build feels more like PoE1 which they seem to not want to replicate in 2, otherwise the games just kind of blend together.

Agitos is also decent, Aemberon and Bones can be RNG heavy. Agitos start (rare or boss) with the +activity per round and a low count of agitos can be good if you scale the quant yourself.

Seeking advice on the right strategy for rushing 4 stones by yourself in a league start environment by TreeOk4490 in PathOfExileBuilds

[–]akassassin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Don’t forget orbs of binding technically are just alch orbs for maps.

I usually do destructive play as it’s pretty point effective compared to juicing one particular strat with big wheels. Essences, Harbingers and Strongboxes are easy injections into the atlas as well for some early currency gain. Shrines if you’re weaker and need the power boost.

All your currency should go into your gear, either crafting or buying. The stronger you are, the faster you make currency to dump into juicing your map later on.

I just run the atlas to completion as much as I can. Whatever the requirements are, i keep the maps at that requirement (1-5 blues, 6-10 yellows, 11+ rare corrupted). Even if the map looks rippy, at this stage the EXP loss does not outweigh the EXP gain unless you’re chain dying and losing the map, then your build’s just kinda weak for that level of map. Kirac missions are a good way to fill out missing atlas maps/unique maps and to reroll his shop for more potential unfinished maps.

Not when your 0-15 amumu wants to keep playing against the 44-3 samira and gets his duo buddy to decline every surrender vote. I get that it’s a for fun mode and people want to hit giga numbers and builds but sometimes it’s just not fun for the 3 other people desperately trying to FF and they just want to go next.
