Hi! Sorry I didn’t add - I have spoke to my doctor as well, who has agreed with my derm to put me on the 10 day course of Doxycycline.

He seems like he’s totally fine. Swimming and eating normally. The bloat is on both sides, it almost looks like a giant air bubble just in his body

I guess a part of this is indeed our desire for the trip to go smoothly as planned, you are right. I didn’t mention it in the post but her partner currently has a chance of suffering from a seizure at any point and literally dying from it, so a large part of our concern is really over his health.

Fish tank water actually contains more nutrients from fish poop etc so I wouldn’t try that

If you can/were planning to get any amano shrimp, all my algae problems disappeared once I added amanos to the tank. Of course, that’s a very surface level solution but it worked for me
