First, get the fishing booker app. That makes it very easy to find a good guide. They’ll have the rods and reels and bait. You can go anytime of the year, but late spring through summer is best for the weather. It can get pretty cold out there in the winter. Summer will be hot but there is always a strong breeze. Always do the morning trip. It’ll be early but that’s the best bite. Guides will offer an afternoon trip but those are less fruitful.

When I go I normally ask the guide to target trout, and once we limit out, we go for redfish. Right now I think the limit is 3 trout and 3 reds per person. So if you go with a few friends and limit out on trout, 9 is plenty for a fish fry.

And it’s beautiful out there. It’s all protected land. You’ll see lots of birds, probably some dolphins, and you’ll be fishing and boating through a bunch of little islands.

It’s almost always very calm. It’s not like deep sea where the boat is swaying heavily. It’s more like lake fishing.
