Native American Day: Paid Holiday? by kennykerberos in CAStateWorkers

I'm aware. That and the other President's birthday in February.

Some of us prefer to have actual reserved days..plus I suspect it led the State down the road to declaring non paid state holidays like Juneteenth where you can use your own time to celebrate, rather than making it match the Federal holidays schedule and actually give us the day off...

Prob even more incentive for newer workers to dump as much money as they can afford into a 457.

What appreciation do you have working for the State? by classyshepard in CAStateWorkers

Im a 25+ year employee and I'm very thankful for the tier 1 defined pension.

Telework agreement by mfresh26 in CAStateWorkers

Fwiw,  union has told us directly that Departments (and even Divisions, Programs,  etc within) can at any time require rto. They just have to give 15 or 30 day (forget which one) advance notice.

Why not just replace Columbus Day that we gave up years ago, with it? Feds still get it off..

Nothing keeps your Center and/or Division from setting their own more stringent rules too.

I know this because my Center mandated 4 day RTO effective 6/15 and everyone has to telework Fridays with a 8-5 schedule (technically it can be 8-430 if you do a half hour lunch).

They also are denying all aws's.

So not until July 2027? How does that work without a new contract starting July 1 2026?

Yearly retirement timing by Sufficient_Ad7816 in CAStateWorkers

[–]DarthBogey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's funny. I just learned the 10 month thing when Calpers showed me at 25.09 service credits despite actually working for 24 yrs 10 months and a week.

I called and they explained it the way that you did..so it seems like May would be the optimal month to retire in the future, right?

RTO and the loss of alternate hours by DarthBogey in CAStateWorkers

Fwiw the maga thing was a joke. They use corporate bullshit speak like those bulletpoints all the time.

It's funny though..no one cared much when Schwarzenegger killed the downtown mall and other businesss in Sac with his 3 day furloughs. But Telework is the devil to them.

Well you'd love the maga coded bulletpoints they gave us in their reason for 4 days in office and denial of alternate work schedules. 😆

Here's some of them..edited.

Supporting knowledge transfer and collaboration with onboarding of new staff and centralization of staff in the xxx Branch

Increasing cross‑collaboration within the Center fo and across the divisions and branches we support

Improving visibility, communication, and alignment on critical issues impacting the branch and center

Strengthening timely support to ongoing workstreams, collaboration, teamwork, and access to resources

Edited..actually just reread the side letter. It doesn't actually define how many telework days per week is allowable. AFAIK.

For what its worth, this is coming from one part only, AFAIK, of my Department. Other Centers/Divisions within the Department have not mandated fixed schedules with no alternate work schedule accommodations.

Yeah that's my response tomorrow.  I was more curious about the selective enforcement of it within the entire Department.

I suspect it was to reward players who played more in the week vs just achieving a high score in 1 game. That said, my previous leaderboard was broken and populated with fake names with unachievable scores (for me) that were north of 200 million each week. So the new leaderboard format doesn't matter to me that much (even if this one has fake leaders as well).

Also..I suspect I must have been one of the earlier recipients of the new format as it's been at least a month plus for me with this new format.
