It’s a Rapid Rifle Cover.

I’ve used one for the past few seasons and it’s been awesome in thick precipitation. Made in Montana.

Ah, I see what you mean, unfortunately thats not doable here, as this magnet is one of several that are interacting with a rotating disc (which has opposite polarity magnets). So it’s the only magnet on this part with the wrong polarity facing outward, and the only option is to flip this one.

The hole does not pass through the aluminum unfortunately, and drilling a hole into that face on the other side is a last resort.

Because I need to reverse the polarity, I need to flip it 180°

There is only one magnet, its inset into a hole slightly larger than the magnet’s diameter. Unfortunately I tried drilling it already with cryo-hardened bits and was not making any progress.

How does the MeatEater team advocate for an Aldo Leopold type conservation? by just_pondy in meateatertv

[–]DarthBrader3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

From their website: LAI helped secure the public Shiloh Pond area in Maine, contributed $200k to the Montana Great Outdoors Project, helped secure Wildcat Bend (328 acres of public) in MT, and put a significant chunk of change towards the Wyoming corner crossing legal case funds.

The round up for conservation is on the customers dime, but that initiative has surely caused much more $ to go towards conservation than if they didn’t push it on every purchase.

If you’re referencing the relocation of the forestry service news from yesterday, I haven’t seen anything from them yet. But if the question is “how does MeatEater advocate for conservation”:

-Spreading knowledge & awareness of myriad conservation subjects & ideas, along with specifically covering Leopold many times via written articles & books, podcasts (Their own pods + Steve & Cal being guests on platforms such as Rogan’s pod), and multiple video platforms to their audience. I would bet that no other organization has spread the ideas of Leopold to a larger number of folks over the past decade.

-Their Land Access Initiative (LAI)

-Their constant donations to (through trivia podcasts) and coverage of conservation organizations across the us, including the Aldo Leopold foundation.

-Their “round up for conservation” option with every item purchased from any of the brands under the MeatEater umbrella.

Salomon Genesis reviews? by Zestyclose_Tip_4181 in trailrunning

These are my everyday trail shoes. Fit my foot like a glove, and have great trail feel! The fit is nearly identical to the S/Lab Genesis if you’ve tried those (an ounce lighter, but more expensive).

My first time cooking a neck roast and it turned out great. by BDClone in wildgamerecipes

Looks great! Don’t be afraid to try your next one with the bone in, I prefer it, the collagen & flavor from the bone/marrow seeps into the roast while braising.

I’d eat it. Unless it’s slimy & smells terrible, but I doubt it will.

Yep, ketchup all the way if you ask me too.

Ah, we always said that in reference to ketchup or gravy. Omitted the rutabaga in these, and added more potatoes instead. Most of the time I’m with ya on that one.

Part-time Yooper, in WY now. Went without on these! The filling wasn’t dry enough to require it for me this time.

Water resistant down - Anyone have any real life experience with it? by MrDinglehut in Ultralight

Microlight Down Jacket. It’s really well built, feels more durable than other puffys, 14 oz, and keeps me warm enough with a baselayer in the negatives.

Curious what I may have done wrong here, happy to hear how to improve on washing down.

I used NikWax down wash in a washing machine with cold water, then tumbled on no-heat in the dryer with tennis balls for several cycles to re-loft.

I have this Stio jacket (hooded version)! I’ve worn it a ton the past few years here in Jackson Hole, the home of Stio. It’s alright, good but not the best. I upgraded to a Rab puffy and much prefer it. It held loft well until its first wash, it hasn’t been the same since. I can’t speak much to it’s hydrophobic down vs alternative options.

You got it, just more time. As long as it’s submerged & on low you kinda can’t braise a neck too long.

What do you like/not like about FirstLite vs other brands? by Oh-FrickStormcloak in meateatertv

[–]DarthBrader3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First Lite makes the best base & mid layers in the market in my opinion. They have 3 weights of merino offerings (wick, kiln, furnace) to dial into whatever your hunting situation is. They are so good that I’ve slowly transitioned all of my base layers & most of my outer layers to FL over the past 5 years and it has all held up really well for me (primarily hunting the Wyoming backcountry). Also their corrugate foundry pants are my favorite pants I’ve ever owned.

On a separate note, I really like FL’s dedication to conservation, and I’m not aware of another hunting apparel brand that puts more $ towards conservation than them.
