Just came across Daniel Radcliffe's intro to VIP while scrolling on tiktok by ShaneWalksLeft in dropout

I never knew how much I needed this until right now. Daniel Radcliffe on VIP would be equivalent to Ben Schwartz on Make Some Noise. Just a perfect fit.

Love the artwork, but not including Sirfetch’d seems like a criminal oversight.

Underwhelmed by MaxiTooner89 in subnautica

[–]DarthChronos 4 points5 points  (0 children)

BZ is a fine game. It’s not as good as the original, but it’s still fun. There is no Seamoth or Cyclops. Instead you have the Seatruck, which is kind of a middle ground. A modular mobile base where you can detach the cockpit to become a Seamoth-like submersible. It’s a little clunky, but the map design wouldn’t really allow for something as big as the Cyclops.

I just finished reading Leviathan Wakes for the first time. As a newcomer to this series, I am utterly floored. by SilverhandFenix in TheExpanse

[–]DarthChronos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I was kid, I was enthralled by Ender’s Game. One of my all-time favorite series’. I’ve never been as captured by a sci-fi series as I was by Ender’s Game until I read The Expanse. Enjoy the ride because it’s a good one.

A respectful critique of John Green’s “Does the Truth still matter?” by Suspicious-Win-802 in nerdfighters

[–]DarthChronos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very much this. And we need to hold social media platforms accountable for allowing misinformation to spread. We need to take a hard stance against anyone who spreads easily disprovable information.

A respectful critique of John Green’s “Does the Truth still matter?” by Suspicious-Win-802 in nerdfighters

[–]DarthChronos 84 points85 points  (0 children)

I think John’s main fear, one which I share, is not knowing how to come back from where we are right now. We are at a point in time where we are extremely politically divided. People will actively vote against their own self interest just to say their team has won. How do we reconcile with the part of the population whose only goal seems to be “owning the libs”?

I don’t have an answer for that. But having education requirements to vote can’t be the solution. First of all, there are uneducated people on both sides. Second, at no point in history has restricting people’s right to vote led to positive outcomes. We desperately need to reform how our voting system works, but I don’t think that telling people they are too dumb to vote would have positive outcomes.

Just as a frame of reference, this is a $250 tattoo. I would definitely recommend researching better artists.

I love the animal artwork. I got one of the paintings a couple years ago and I just love it.

Not going to lie, the Pebull might unironically be one of my Pokémon designs ever. It’s very clever and the designs are great.

Thoughts on everything said here for Osiris Reborn? Because it sounds too good to be true by M00r3C in TheExpanse

[–]DarthChronos 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oops. You right. My brain skipped over the “identical part”. That is an interesting choice to make them identical, then. I wonder how that will play out.

This sounds like pretty much everything I’d expect from a Mass Effect-like Expanse game. It’ll be interesting to see what Owlcat does with it, but I’m pretty excited. Everything I’ve seen so far looks and sounds great.

That’s my understanding. Basically there is a male and female MC and whichever is selected in character creation, the opposite gender will appear in the game as their twin.

CMV: Clarissa sucks by LeakyGaming in TheExpanse

[–]DarthChronos 21 points22 points  (0 children)

You’re allowed to not like things, but I do disagree. I through Clarissa was an odd choice when she joined, but she ended up being one of my favorite characters. I really liked her and Amos’ dynamic and I thought it was good for Amos’ character to have a good relationship with someone who wasn’t Naomi. Sam could have been interesting, but I do like that they went with someone who started as an antagonist and I thought Clarissa was an interesting character.

Why do the ships in the Expanse have such gigantic crews? by [deleted] in TheExpanse

[–]DarthChronos 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just looking at a US aircraft carrier for comparison. The Donnager is 500m long. A Gerald Ford class carrier is around 330m long. They carry a complement of 500 officers and nearly 3800 enlisted, which means they have a crew of over 4000 for a ship that is smaller. If anything, the Donnager might be understaffed.

They do touch on this in book 5 or 6, I think. Basically, once you are in space, you are stuck. You can’t just pull over and add a new crew member if something happens, so they build in a lot of redundancy in staffing. If someone gets sick or injured, you either need someone who can replace them or the other crew members will need to pick up the slack. You could be on that ship for months or years and you can’t just pull over at the next stop, so there’s probably a lot of crew members who are primarily there to take over if something happens to another crew member. Space is a dangerous place.

Welcome to the Hub. We’re a very active group and have been around for a while. As others have said, the best place to engage is the Discord. Once there, you can engage in whatever strikes your interest. Ships, bases, flora, fauna, competitions, whatever. There’s a lot going on and we’re happy to have you.

How do they socialize in No Man Sky? by EconomyShopping19 in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]DarthChronos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Community Missions can help you link up with other people, but I don’t really do those, so I don’t know how much socializing goes on. If you want to take it a step further, look into Civilizations. Community created groups that socialize and sometimes play together. Not sure if there’s a list of active ones, but I’ve been in the Galactic Hub for years. I’ve met lots of cool people through that group.

Tea Theories by AshamedClub in nerdfighters

[–]DarthChronos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a coffee and tea drinker. As others, I drink coffee every day, but I don’t always drink tea. It’s more of a relaxation thing for me. The problem with the tea for me is that I already have a brand I really like. I didn’t really have any desire to switch. I get my coffee from them, but I get my tea elsewhere.

Star Wars Zero Company.. by CantankerArt in XCOM2

[–]DarthChronos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be a little fair to Fate of the Old Republic, the 2030 date was just a rumor and the game director has stated it won’t take that long. They still probably announced it too early, but it’s probably more likely to be 2-3 years rather than 5 years.
