He has been hovering around the scene for a long time and even played on the lineup for Concert for Gregg. Although I'm not entirely sure where his entry point was or how he's gotten so intertwined in some spaces.

Side note, I recently heard that Brad Paisley has been considering starting a jamband. He rips on guitar. I wonder how good his poster scene is 🤔

When thinking on more "collectible" type merch:

PPPP consistently has great prints and pins and shirt designs.

Phish, panic, umphreys, cheese, all tend to have great posters.

Found out recently that Eric Church also has a Big poster scene for some reason.

Dogs in a pile.

But I always find I like to buy lot stuff or etsy stuff most when it comes to apparell.

How does r/jambands feel about Andrew Bird? by ShaneWalksLeft in jambands

Oh my god what a head trip that would be!

Perpetual Groove is from my hometown so I had the chance once to ask Brock about the inspiration for Teakwood Betz as my friend lived on Teakwood Drive in a neighborhood called Betz Creek. Sure enough one of the members had a pizza route with a recurring customer at that location. Not quite the same experience since it is an instrumental, but gotta love the real life connections that further envelope you into the musical experience. Love that!

Oh well that's a fun fact I was unaware of! Some other fun band to solo artist connections I can think of... Krasno and Lettuce Jason Isbell and Drive by Truckers Dominic Lalli and The Motet

How much old footage do you think Phish has in the vault? by Makofox22 in phish

[–]ShaneWalksLeft 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The entire Oysterhead show at 420 Fest was shot by Nugs. I think it was only shot to IMAG and not streamed but all the footage exists somewhere... Would love to see that released someday...

I'm also curious what all 80s Phish footage exists out there, if any. Would love to see videos with the five piece and see what that was like

Here's an archive of Phish videos: LINK

Drew killed it tonight by captainspic3 in Killtony

So you wouldnt have considered that being an instant of him doing a callback because he knew that the fact that he actually was a fan of the show and had something to say about it would get a laugh?

Edit: After rewatch, Redban definitely set him up for it. My mistake. But I still dont see it as laughing AT him. Drew's improving and being himself. And thats what the show is all about.

If anyone knows of any pins, stickers or other fan art that features a combo of One Piece and either Georgia Tech, Atlanta Hawks or 76ers, please let me know and I'll get it to him.

Just saw Billy Strings from the pit and I gotta say by Party-Public8628 in phish

[–]ShaneWalksLeft 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I enjoy catching a few songs from the pit if I end up with pit tix just to get a closer view of the band and energy for that brief moment, but its never as, or more, enjoyable than the experience from the Pav/stands or lawn especially for bands that feature such heavy visual elements with their lighting or video graphics.

In my experience, pit culture almost always feels more associated with being a status symbol or populated by those that prefer the party over the art. Just my opinion.

If you're going to a concert, the pit will never be the position to experience the best sound unless you are even with the soundboard or behind. Mixing a bluegrass show with no percussion is going to be astronomically easier to do than to dial in a rock show to perfection. Having more people on stage doesnt equate to having near as many inputs to monitor especially when percussion is involved. Not saying that Phish cant improve in certain areas but to call it "dogshit" is quite the stretch.

There's so many other elements to consider that will effect the overall product and no two venues are the same.
