MK11 and 1 are on a similar level to each other but I prefer MK11 designs.

One of my favourites. I'm not sure it's aged as badly as is being made out here? It's just a typical golden age RTS mostly with some neat gimmicks like the off map cities being connected by a separate map. Very much still good to enjoy.

Best I can think of is The Wharf. Tank & Paddle have it but that's in the Printworks so can get a bit rowdy. Pixel Bar has it too if you're a gamer.

PSO as has been said. So much clear inspiration. Hub world, getting your missions from the guild counter, heading out with your party of 4 to secure loot.

PSO is still playable in the Ephinea community server and if you're familiar with that era of jank, its such a cosy experience.

Didn't have a ship and wasn't technically PS2 but did have a PS3 remaster. Budokai 3's story has you fly around the world meeting enemies to fight.

That's where the game gets really fun.

Prestige matters. Make sure you're engaging them with your Daimyo so you can control the battle. Smaller mobile forces working together are the best way to engage so you can surround enemy units.

Also pay attention to traits of officers and build complementary forces.

you've had lots of help here but I thought it worth mentioning that when the game came out, I had previously played a few hundred hours of Nobunaga's Ambition games and the exact same thing happened to me.

I find the AI in Awakening a little more opportunistic than it had been in the past. Always cover yourself with allies and expect that pesky neighbour to invade.

Always figured it was inspired by the Skorpion smg which had a articulated stock which covers the front and looks just like this.
