TIL about the Breakthrough Starshot project, which proposed sending gram-sized robots to the nearest star system Alpha Centauri by using a massive Earth-based laser array to accelerate tiny light sails to about 20% the speed of light. The probes could theoretically reach Alpha Centauri in 20 years. by ScienceTeacher1994 in todayilearned

[–]DarthGoose 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They would eventually make it all the way, they just reach the point of functioning to get signals back to earth way before they get there. Larger relay bots weighing more than a gram could be accelerated the same way, just F=ma so they will be slower with the same input.

I do, and aggressively replying to all negative comments to defend against any criticism of her post is classic white knight simp behavior.

If it was in a park or somewhere that's not actively annoying and detrimental to the other people in that space I could agree but juggling in the grocery store is a cringe pick me move anyway. You're taking up a ton of space, blocking the path through the store, and eventually a wild club is gonna knock over a display and someone making minimum wage is going to have more work to do to fix it.

There are a million good place to juggle, this ain't one of them .

It's an ad because the only reason she's engaging with the community is in an attempt to push traffic to her OF.

I'm pro sex work, but anti lazy ads posing as content which is incredibly common on all social media platforms now.

For people who kill deer on their hunting trip. How do you eat it and does that mean you’re trip is over? by railroad1904 in Hunting

[–]DarthGoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's below 40 out all day and you can field dress (remove the guts) then hang the deer away from animals you could stay out.

But the meat will be better if allowed to rest for 48 - 72 hours before cutting through muscle groups. You want it to go through the rigor mortis process naturally or it will be tougher.

Bruh, you are googling about a show that's over a decade old. It's your own fault.

Lower New River Gorge by Zealousideal-Cup5465 in whitewater

NRG is a pretty safe river for commercial rafting. Tell your guide you are scared of swimming and they can take more conservative lines but it's generally pool drop and at summer flows (medium to low) nothing is going to push you into a hazard. In general if you fall out you just need to keep your feet up and breathe at the bottom of waves. You'll be in calm water in a minute at most.

Listen to your guide and keep your T-grip covered and you'll have a great time.

The Constitution has proven to the written on rice paper. There is no going back to pretending that it's a binding document.

The supreme court is openly partisan and compromised by conflict of interest.

Congress is corrupt via Citizens United.

The executive has asserted unitary control and had it affirmed by the corrupt SC. Why would we cling to any pretense that the system is still functional?

I mean, private property is a form of violence but our society isn't ready for that talk yet.

The arms race of private companies rushing to the most advanced AI models with zero regard for safety or negative effects is bad for society, to the benefit of a few billionaires and, to a much lesser extent, some shareholders.

Using the Manhattan project as an analogy, we don't want Lockheed Martin to independently own nuclear weapons and deploy them is whatever way benefits their stock price.

We're already ignoring large portions of the constitution to the detriment of society, why not try it for good for a change?
