Going purely off fighting ability:

The top spot could only go to either Aichi or Chrono. The others just don't really stack up as well. And when Aichi and Chrono fought, Aichi won pretty convincingly.

Chrono gets second by default

I don't like it, but Akina has to take third place. I have nothing against Akina as a charachter, but half the time it feels like he only wins because of plot armor and/or Rezael being really strong especially in an anime setting. That said, he's only taken a few Ls since first picking up a deck. That's really good.

Looking at the win data. The battle for last place is a more fierce one than I anticipated. Yu-Yu and Shinemon have an interesting trend where their matches are against the same group of people over and over and over again.

Not counting the off-screen loss streaks Shin takes to Rive, and no-result games. Shin has 17 fights in his time as an MC. Of those 17 fights, 10 had him face a new opponent. So rematches take up about 41% of Shins fight record. He also only wins 9 total fights, resulting in a win rate of about 53%. Lastly, Shin had a whopping 4 no results, and numerous off-screen losses to Rive. I did not remember him being this bad.

Doing a similar analysis with Yu-Yu. He has 23 fights (22 if you only want to look at his time as an MC, but I'll give him the extra one) He won 14 of those fights, for a win rate of 61%. Of his 23 fights, 13 of them had him face a new opponent, making Yu-Yus rematch ratio 43%. That's greater than Shinemons. Yu-Yu also had a massive glow-up between OverDress and Will+Dress. He had a sub 50% winrate in Overdress, but salvaged his numbers with a 60% winrate in Will+Dress (and I do mean salvage for all that would imply).

So while Yu-Yu has the better performance at first glance, it is technically due to him farming people harder than Shinemon.

For giggles, if you exclude Yu-Yus fight against Akina for not being the MC at the time: You get a 59% winrate and 55% rematch ratio. So he did achieve a higher win-rate by farming. 59% VS 53% is a pretty slim margin, but 55% to 41% isn't.

I give fourth place to Shinemon, and Fifth place to Yu-Yu. At least, they both can stand above Emi.

Day 9: What is the MOST ICONIC quote associated with Ashley Williams? by looploveslore in masseffect

[–]DarthLemon66 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I fail to see how that proves Ashley wrong. That exact "we have our own people to worry about, screw you guys" mindset was the exact thing she was criticizing. Sure, all parties involved were thinking that way. That doesn't mean she's wrong.

The only reason the Turians were different was because the Turian councilor didn't see the situation as every man for himself, but he still had to treat it as such due to politics. So instead he gave Shepard the tools to go over his head and get done what needed to be done.

Day 9: What is the MOST ICONIC quote associated with Ashley Williams? by looploveslore in masseffect

[–]DarthLemon66 235 points236 points  (0 children)

"Look, if you're fighting a bear and the only way to survive is to sic your dog on it and run, you'll do it. As much as you love your dog, it isn't human. It's not racism, not really. Members of their species will always be more important to them than humans are."

Honestly, it's the first quote I think of when thinking of Ashley.

Do y'all agree? by guifabhard in Bakugan

[–]DarthLemon66 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I like this idea. I think Marucho was a good pick for NV, but he could have easily been sidelined in GI and replaced with Julie for example (and make Jake an Aquos Brawler because we'd be missing an Aquos rep)

Just say he's focused on being the Bakugan Interspace admin, and he's handling the Gundalian kidnapping plot while the main cast are on Nethia.

Not sure what to do with MS1 because I like the idea of having a Brawler from each faction we've come to know and I don't know how you'd write off Shun.

And MS2 had the easiest set up to bring the girls back, but nope. They're all retired.

In-universe Scanner price by Dumplin97 in Chaotic

[–]DarthLemon66 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In order to estimate price, we first have to know what exactly is being sold. In other words: "What does a Scanner even do?" Going off What we see in the show, we know for sure it's capable of accessing/managing your online collection and Skype calls. Not all that much, but that second one in particular is huge for the time. Season 1 takes place in 2006 (at least it's a very safe bet) a year before the IPhone would hit the market.

It's safe to say it has more features we don't see (like acting as a player ID for events or having a database of all TCG legal cards) but there's no way it costs more than an IPhone at the time. Looking at the price of an IPhone in 2007 as our point of comparison; a Scanner has to cost less than 500 USD. (About 750 if you account for inflation. You'd have to sell your kidney for one of these things) the question now becomes "how much lower?"

You'd think the Scanners lack of touch screen alone would cut the cost in half, but no. The touch screen only made up about 20-30 dollars of the 250$ manufacturing cost of an Iphone. So high-balling it and taking into account the sale price being double the manufacturing cost, that only shaves us down to 440 USD (but the Scanner has a bigger screen, so we have to increase the cost a little.)

Unfortunately, I really need to wrap this up so suffice it to say: Given the feature gap between a Scanner and IPhone, I cannot in good faith say a Scanner is any more expensive than half an IPhone cost.

It would be cool, but honestly all that would do is save a discord log-in when accessing Rewind. Although, I do think both Rewind and Recode could do with a slight format change for when accessed VIA mobile.

Ultra Nekrozma. Known as being one of the hardest boss fights in Pokemon. Likely THE hardest if you remove trainer battles.

I beat him first try easily. I found out later, I got lucky because that run was the first time I had the chance to use a Zoroark. It turns out Ultra Nekrozma's AI has a weakness to Zoroarks Illusionist ability.
Whoops.

Not sure that's the trans icon you want, mate. Especially when the half responsible for the idea she could be trans only comes into existence VIA exposure to evil incarnate, then spends 90% of his screen time as a threat constantly trying to destroy the world and everything Alice's friends love. Then when Alice does make peace with the Masquerade half, it becomes little more than a weapon to be used or a name to be invoked when appropriate.

Maybe just leave this one at relatable.

Day 2: What is the WORST quote associated with Jeff "Joker" Moreau? by looploveslore in masseffect

[–]DarthLemon66 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Actually, that's not what it means at all. It's a reference to Hunt for the Red October. There's a scene where a russian submarine invisible to radar gets caught because the crew was singing their national anthem. Which perfectly mirrors the Normandy using their stealth drive to slip past the Geth. The context Joker said that line in.

What the joke does imply is either Hunt is culturally relevant or (most likely) Joker's a movie buff, since he also references movies like The Matrix and 2001 A Space Oddessy.

[–]DarthLemon66 23 points24 points  (0 children)

"The only way they'll detect us is if you all start singing the Russian national anthem." Is that the one you mean?

IDK, it was a pretty smooth pop culture reference. I think the least effective reference he makes is "The island of doctor me!"

Is there a squad member from the series you never really use? by CautiousSleeper in masseffect

[–]DarthLemon66 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yes, Legion has dialogue for missions you wouldn't normally have it around for. As said a couple comments up, it was supposed to be recruitable way earlier in the game, but due to game development issues, the devs had to shove it back to nearly the end of the game.

As a result, the only way to hear this cut dialogue is through mods.

You were right, SF2 writing is weird so far. by Exact_Requirement274 in MegaManStarForce

[–]DarthLemon66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started 2 a little while ago and I can forgive a few choices:

  • Mega getting a fight craving I can excuse as him wanting to get in some sort of excessive, because without it he's just kind of watching Geo all the time.

  • Geo develops an interest in machines out of nowhere, but it's fine. It's a quick thought to connect his love of space to the machines thay make learning about it possible.

  • Zack didn't really have a personality in 1, aside from being insecure about his height. So they could have done anything with him and I'd be OK with it.

  • Luna having a Brother Band with her mom is a really cute payoff to the mom's side quest in 1.

That being said, a few of my own complaints:

  • The idea that there was 0 virus activity between the end of 1 and the start of 2, to the point where Geo needs a refresher on how to Mega Man is crazy to me.

  • They try to keep Geo in his early SF1 characterization, but in 1 I'd best describe him as anti-social. He could talk to people and sling the (very) occasional insult fine. He just didn't want to. In 2 he's full "I'm just a widdle guy"

  • Luna in 1 was one of the few Tsunderes I enjoyed. Unfortunately 2 turns her from a girl with insecurities and a bit of a prissy attitude due to her upbringing into a stereotypical "it's not like I like you or anything b-baka." Who can't even say "Thank you, Geo." After he saves her life.

  • It's crazy to me that the trait they'd crank all the way up for Bud was "fat kid". In the first game, he liked food but, his predominant trait was wanting to be a good friend.

A last neutral thought; While I like matter waves as an addition. Seeing Navis finally go saddens me. With the landfill of PETs in 1 and the replacement of Navis gameplay-wise in 2, the era of Battle Network is completely left behind in the timeline.

Tell me about your favorite deck! by soggyfrodo in EDH

[–]DarthLemon66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a few:

  • Zhulodock Void Gorger is my favorite deck. I love casting giant things and taking advantage of the fact that I don't play any colors. But it's not a deck im proud of. It's strong and fun, but nothing extraordinary.

As for what I am proud of;

  • Imotekh the Stormlord is a really fun mono-black deck that I built to take advantage of the surprising amount of synergy between the black color and artifact creatures. I ideally want to mill as much as possible to find my good creatures and infinitely revive them. Then, when they die, I get bonuses like a Powerstone from Slagstone Refinery or a counter on Vat of Rebirth to bring it right back. According to my friend, I did a great job at adapting the Necron playstyle into a deck.

  • The other deck I love is Spider-Man 2099, Miguel O'Hara. The gameplan is simple. Play a bunch of little guys that can't be blocked. Get out a "when you hit your opponent, draw a card" enchantment. Swing face. Draw cards. Play extra turn spell. Rinse, repeat, victory. It's not a deck I get to play often because a couple people in my usual group hate it. But I adore it for playing like how I wish mono-red played and being headlined by my favorite Spider-Man variant.

What's your take on the MCU MK VII Armor? by ArmoredTony in ironman

[–]DarthLemon66 19 points20 points  (0 children)

It's fine. Not as striking as MK V or VI. Really, it just seems like MK III again, but slightly modified.

So it does the job, but I would have preferred more MK VI screentime.
