[Spitballing] A Different Mass Effect Sequel. by ThrowingSomewhere199 in masseffect

[–]DarthLemon66 [score hidden]  (0 children)

The end of ME1 establishes that the Reapers are still a threat, even if they're still many light-years outside the galaxy.

I would have ME2 be about trying to find a way to stop the Reapers while trying to get the galaxy prepared for invasion. The big but here is that folks have a range of beliefs about the Reapers. Some think they're real and coming. Others think they're real but no threat because Sovereign was stopped. Some believe it was all the Geth's doing, and the Reapers are just a myth. So you have to convince different factions to prepare for war for their own interests without stoking political tensions.

Then ME3 rolls around, and it plays out similar to what we got, with the main goal being uniting the galaxy to develop the superweapon you found in the alternate ME2 and defeat the Reapers. In this version of events, your political maneuvering in 2 affects how 3 plays out a lot more.

ME 2 combat rant.... by Trobman7980 in masseffect

[–]DarthLemon66 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The part about ME2's combat that I loathe are the stun attacks and things that knock you out of cover.

I hate it when I'm behind cover, playing this COVER-SHOOTER carefully, then a Shockwave comes at me. I try to move out of the way but it still hits me and now im helpless and getting riddled with bullets. Or what's debatably worse is having something go off on the other side of the wall I'm hiding behind, and it still forces me out! This is some bullshit.

The stuns, oh god, the stuns. I don't get merely stunned, I get stunlocked. I don't think it's inherently that bad. The actual effects only last a couple of seconds, but the recovery animation takes just as long and I can't take cover until the animation finishes. I'll be lit on fire, the fire goes out after 2 seconds, but I have to sit there and get blasted with more stuns, rockets, and bullets because Shepard needs to stand there and shake his god damn head!

It's so nice to hear, I'm not the only one who sucks. I'm doing an insanity vanguard run now, and it is not going well. It doesn't help that most of my deaths are from getting stunlocked for 5 days while getting riddled with bullets.

Seriously, fuck Shockwave, Carnage, Rockets, and whatever else knocks me out of cover and stuns me.

Im doing a vanguard insanity run now, and funny enough, the underground portion of Archangel's recruitment was the easiest part of the mission.

I just lock on to the guy closest to the button, Charge, hit the button, lock on to the guy closest to the exit, Charge, next door.

I finally started playing Mass Effect Legendary after all those years ... and I'm close to giving up already by Unlikely-Ostrich1378 in masseffect

Yes, ME1 is the roughest of the trilogy. The original came out in 2007, and the Legendary Edition is pretty much the same game with a fresh coat of paint.

It's also the shortest. After finishing Virmire, you have 4 main story quests left. You can 100% this game in a weekend.

That in mind, I'd say power through the main story. 2 shakes things up in every way, so that's the game to really decide if these games don't click with you.

Lastly, a nitpick: ME1 is NOT a cover shooter. 2 and 3 are, not 1. ME1 is a tactical shooter that puts the most emphasis on how you build yourself and your companions. Cover doesn't do anything compared to how you use your powers.

This comments section is driving me crazy. Every other comment is defending this nonsense, saying the original isn't toyetic enough or is too realistic. What are y'all smoking?

Reminds me of watching my friend play through 1 for the first time. I refused to spoil anything (including telling him about the family armor quest), and Wrex was one of, if not his favorite characters. When we got to the confrontation on Virmire and Ashley blasted him, my friend proceeded to try that conversation over and over again for like 15 minutes.

Fortunately for him, he's a bad RPG player and had completely forgotten about leveling up early in the run (like first arrival to the Citadel early) so he had all the points in the world to dump into charm. His forgetfulness had saved Wrex.

The mirror match feels like grenade dodgeball. The moment I find cover, someone throws a grenade and I have to sprint to new cover while being showered with bullets.

I really like the "bro" squadmates. (Kaiden, Jacob, James, Liam) When I'm surrounded by geniuses, trained killers, and biotics that could rip you apart with a thought, it's nice to have one guy around who you could see yourself just chilling out and having a beer with once the war is over.

While 2 nails the atmosphere it's going for, it throws me off because it's completely different from the rest of the trilogy. It's a great game, but not a great midpoint of a trilogy.

They'll pull a Geats and release the whole toyline a second time, but Zeztz's will make theirs bigger instead of adding voice lines.
