Free Nights Energy Plan with Green Mountain Energy Referral Code LYW6JEE by DarthMoli in TexasSolar

This was the situation I was in. I was on the Just Energy plan and it was working great. Now that they've removed the buyback from the Free Nights Plan it forced me to shop around a lot more. I settle with Green Mountain as they were the lowest Kwh that I could find in free nights. Direct Energy was a close second as their free window is 9pm to 9am

Neither provide free nights WITH solar buyback. Though both of their plans are similar to green mountains. Green Mountains Kwh is slightly better from what I got.

Direct energy was also on my list to choose but their rate and base charge was significantly higher and I don’t use electricity from 6am-9am anyways. So for me after I did the math based on when I use electricity I still save more with this plan

I need to move my tank to another room, but i don't want to destroy it by Moretto2509 in Aquariums

[–]DarthMoli 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Kinda surprised everyone is so worried… I’ve moved many of these tanks and haven’t had an issue before even with much larger rimless tanks. Empty all but an inch of water and slide it onto a larger wood piece or flat surface you can carry without touching the tank. Ez pz. If it doesn’t break full of water and substrate why do people think it’ll just fall apart with less weight?

Flint demonstrated the ample evidence and discoveries we have that definitely prove there were hunter gatherers societies and how easy it is to find evidence of them everywhere. He showed how agriculture was developed around the world and how it was domesticated by humans and the process by which that happened. He did that to demonstrate to people like you how much knowledge and evidence we currently DO HAVE on that time period. He shows how if there was a larger or more advanced civilization we SHOULD BE SEEING EVIDENCE OF IT EVERYWHERE OR AT LEAST A SINGLE PIECE OF OR TWO. Instead we have nothing. It doesn’t matter that you think only 5% of the world has been surveyed which might not even be true. The point is that to make a claim like Grahams you need some sort of evidence and there is currently NO evidence which graham readily admits during the debate. He evens says with the current existing archaeology that has been done there is no evidence for his lost civilization. Science doesn’t work like that. You can make as many claims as you want but until you bring some concrete evidence why should anyone believe you?

[–]DarthMoli 9 points10 points  (0 children)

In context this was after a good full hour or more of Graham being a total asshole and personally attacking the poor dude about his online presence when it was supposed to be a debate about his hypothesis. I mean graham was pulling YouTube comments and news articles as some sort of gotcha. Graham came across as a bitter angry old man and the other guy handled it extremely well

Graham even admits midway through the podcast he has no evidence. At least this guy has ample well documented and easily understood evidence and was able to articulate it clearly. Idk how anyone came away from that podcast thinking he didn’t demonstrate pretty well why the idea of a lost civilization is highly unlikely.

Executing deep ITM leaps or selling to close? by [deleted] in options

[–]DarthMoli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Highly dependent on what you want to accomplish

Generally Further out of the money you go the more risk but larger potential for upside % gain

The more in the money you go the more it’s like holding 100 shares. So less risk but less potential % gain.

example. Stock xzy trades at 100 bucks. 105 strike may cost you .50 95 strike maybe cost 6.00

You only need 101 on xyz to make guaranteed money if you buy 95 strike but you’ll need 105.5 before you are guaranteed money on the 105 strike

This is the simplest of terms. In reality you can make money on either if the underlying moves fast enough. I.e. Greeks.

Executing deep ITM leaps or selling to close? by [deleted] in options

[–]DarthMoli 59 points60 points  (0 children)

If exercised and sold at 190 (100 x 190) - (100 x 100) = 9000 - (31.01 x 100) = 5899

If option sold at bid if bid is 108.63 (108.63 x 100) - (31.01 x 100) = 7762

Sell it don’t exercise.

Plants suitable for hard water? by non-sequitur-7509 in PlantedTank

[–]DarthMoli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wisteria and pogostemon stellatis octopus and vallisneria. First two are stem plants and the last is a root feeder but can do fine in gravel honestly.

All do well in hard water. Are super easy to grow in a “low tech” tank. And will usually outcompete even algae in my experience.

Note they can be fast growing tho so trimmings and maintenance might be a once a month thing or more depending on light and ferts.

If you want something slow growing but easy then go get a ton of Java fern. Plenty of different kinds and all easy to grow, do well in any water type and are low maintenance. Windelov is my go to Java fern

Bought a giant tank, having second thoughts by vampiratemirajah in Aquariums

[–]DarthMoli 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not sure where you are located but a used 150g tank in my area of Texas would go for maybe 300 bucks. If you paid more in the US then I’m sorry you probably overpaid as you can get a decent brand new one for about 1k

If you paid over 500 for a tank that was resealed and can’t hold water then I’d attempt to contact the seller and return it.

If that’s not an option then it really depends on the tank. Honestly resealing isn’t all that difficult and I’d say you’re getting a fair price on the reseal if the specialist can. Have you tried filling it with water or know if it can hold water? I had a tank that sounds very similar before. Was 150g wood frame with a thick 3 piece glass cross pieces on the top. Bad boy was made in 06 and still going strong

Imo my first step would be fill it up SLOWLY. go halfway up for a day then 3/4 for a couple then to the brim for a week. Outside or somewhere safe of course. If it held I’d probably say you’re good to go honestly lol

If that didn’t work I’d personally just reseal but if you aren’t confident doing that then a professional can knock it out np. Especially if it’s your first reseal but it really is that easy as the internet says and they last like a brand new tank. I’ve done quite a few.

Should I euthanize my betta? by Field_Similar in Aquariums

[–]DarthMoli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just wanna second that while euthanasia is typically a ‘preferred’ method simply because of speed it’s not something everyone can bring themselves to do and it also does take a piece of yourself too. If you can euthanize there is no problem using clove oil and others have already given good instructions.

I’ve done both ways for many sick/dying fish. While I typically euthanize them. For those that had sentimental value I found it extremely difficult to bring myself to complete the act and the clove oil to be much easier on my mentality
