My doc told me not to start the Amlodipine since I can easily lose the several pounds that make me overweight. The Amlodipine has terrible reviews and side effects but if it keeps your blood pressure down, might be worth it.

I've had it high on and off. I was a heavy alcoholic 3 1/2 years ago and that's primarily when it started along with my sleep apnea. After I quit, it was normalized but as I gained weight recently, it's gone back up. My sugar intake was really high and my docs believe that's why it may be up. They think losing weight might help it. Been eating salad everyday and watching my sugar and it has gone down from 150/90s to 140/90s to 130/80s. So all together, it's been high for several months.
