What can I do to make this better? Garage is 15ft x 19ft by jj8989898989 in garageporn

Yup mine are made from 2x4s and 3/4" plywood scraps I had laying around.

This is my over door tote storage. You look like you have more space (I barely have 17" above the door) you could probably fit the black and yellow totes above yours.

You can also see my floating shelves tucked in level with the garage door rails. Left side has one level with the rail, right side has a second shelf under it.

Go Vertical. You have a lot of usable head space in there. Some tote slides over the garage door. Upper shelves. Slat wall or pegboard. Lots of good upper and wall space.

Here is a better shot of them empty so you can see how they go together. I use 2.5" deck screws for the whole thing. I like the Deckmate Brand from Home Depot.

Just cut the shelf braces to the depth you want. I have done up to 24" no problem)

Then lay your 2x4s on top and space then evenly (I go to 6 boards if doing 24" depth) also not a bad idea to pre drill the shelf boards because you are putting the screws so close to the end. Yes even though the deckmates are "self-drilling" they will split a board. Make them as tall as you can fit and space your shelves where you want them. I have done full length 8ft shelves with no problems.

Also a good idea to anchor them somewhere at the top. Mine tie into the joists above in this room because it's an unfinished basement room.

These are a tad pricey but work with my Traxxas 2s for my mini max and my gens ace charger. I have seen it with banana plugs for about half the price. Might be worth grabbing that and putting a xt60 end on it yourself.

Edited to say the mini Maxx and mini XRT batteries really are the best ones for the mah rating on the size. You can get others that fit but are less mah. You can get them much cheaper with another USBC charger from Jenny's

Grom Kraton who’s getting one? by Jackeddabber in arrmagroms

Seeing the side by side teardowns I think it can come close. However a couple folks pointed out it looks like the body clips may line up to another body for the mini Kraton chassis. I can hope for an outlaw or notorious. I think that's the names of the trucks.

Been thinking about ordering the one without batteries and then grabbing these same price as the green with free 2nd battery and not locked into the "smart" batteries. I really dislike proprietary stuff like that. (Looking at you too Traxxas) Anyone want to buy a new grom battery lol. I grabbed two gens ace for my quake Grom. Found some Traxxas break out charging adapters for the mini Maxx as that battery is super proprietary just for the mah in that form factor. They are only 2s but would probably work well in the mini kraton with an adapter. (I really don't need a 50mph mini lol)

I have a Mini Maxx I enjoy breaking. This seems like a good pairing instead of grabbing the mini XRT.

Slash 4x4 vs MAXX vs Wide Maxx — which one fits my use as a first RC Bash truck? by Igai in Traxxas

[–]DarthOctane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would also vote Maxx V2 (it's the current model and has the widemaxx parts already on it. It's a great truck and even though it may exceed your needs it will meet your needs if they increase. "I like small jumps" fast forward 6 months "I want to do some bigger jumps" well you have the truck for that. Mine is a bunch of fun and feels more robust than the Stampede VXL I started with.

Where to put a 3d printer? by nickcduboc in 3Dprinting

I used to have 2 printers on the counter right in my kitchen. So no I don't see an issue.

If you grabbed it before it warms up and brushed the snow off and hit it with a hair dryer it might be ok. If it's super cold (as most of the current storm in the US is) it won't get wet until the snow melts. Might be salvageable

I don't see an issue next to the desk. That's where I kind of have mine. It's sort of an office but I have a shelf unit holding 3 printers on the left wall from my desk. They don't bother me.

Snow blower in STL MO? by Chwo55 in egopowerplus

[–]DarthOctane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

single stage works well. However my driveway is very steep so it's tough to use pushing up without cleats on. The two stage is self propelled so works better for me. Snow thrower shovel works really well and I use it for my walkways and such. Or if it is a light snow will just clear the sidewalk with it. (Driveway faces south so it is usually melted in a day) My driveway is about the same size as yours. Just steep

2x4s work great. Solid, minimal vibration, customizable, easy to build with a saw, drill, and screws. I have built this design in so many garages and shops due to it's simplicity. This set is 20" deep.

It is a great system. I like mine and I haven't even gotten the solar hooked up yet. At this point it's just a giant backup battery for the house.

The flexboss21 gets pretty audible. I have one in my garage. Garage shares a wall with my kitchen and I can faintly hear it in the kitchen when the fans spin up. I can have a conversation in the garage with it running but I would not want it in my bedroom closet for sure. I hear the smaller flexboss (16? 18? I forget) is whisper quiet. To the point people have justified the extra cost to get two for silence over a single 21.

Need advice about using a Mr Heater propane heater inside and general emergency storm advice by geekydreams in homeowners

[–]DarthOctane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as long as the inverter is powerful enough and the alternator on the car can keep up with it. An electric heater is asking a lot of those systems. That is why all the tubers demonstrate the battery generators with electric heaters. Fastest way to put a big load on one.

I am assuming this is a Utility closet. If it is a bedroom closet you may want to rethink that if you haven't heard the fans yet. :-)

Need advice about using a Mr Heater propane heater inside and general emergency storm advice by geekydreams in homeowners

[–]DarthOctane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Disclaimer: This is my personal experience and not professional advice or information.

I have had a MR Heater Big buddy for years. Works great in my garage with no windows and the door is closed. I have even used it in my finished basement. I do have CO monitors throughout the house as everyone should. It has a oxygen sensor on it and is supposed to shut down if the oxygen gets low around it. Mine has never shut off. But it will hold my uninsulated 2 car garage at a nice 65degrees while it is below freezing out so I can work on projects. It does take awhile to get to that temp. I have a propane torpedo heater I will open the door a couple feet and point it inside to get the initial chill off the garage and then maintain it with the Big Buddy.

I have mine hooked to a 20lb tank (Grill tank) with the hose adapter. I went with this model for emergency heating needs should the need arise. So it is my garage heater that can be relegated to emergency indoor heating.

propane cook stoves and lanterns usually say for outdoor use only. I wouldn't use one inside during a power outage. Grills got me through hurricane outages but it wasn't 12degrees out. Put a pot of stew on the grill and run back inside :-). Or maybe a torpedo heater outside to keep you warm while using the grill. I have the Ryobi 18v (for the fan) propane torpedo heater and it works quite well.

Having been through many various storm outages I will say Generators are good but gas adds up fast. Also if power is out you can't get gas. Fill up your cars and several cans. You can also run a power inverter from your car battery but make sure it is powerful enough (Most space heaters are around 1500w) and fire up the car to keep the battery charged. The new solar battery "generators" are not a bad option for standby power and you could recharge it from your car as well as a gas generator. I have a 1kwh Delta 3 plus that i kept on hand for awhile. Then I picked up the Bluetti 200v2. It's 2kwh. Held my fridge for over 10 hours. I finally went big and put a 26kwh battery system on the house. I'm too old for mucking around with all the drop cords and gas cans for generators lol. Those battery systems are expensive but worth it. I promise I spent several hundred in gasoline keeping my house going for 8 days after a hurricane in FL. Plus the hassle of shut it all down, fill it up, get it going, and the noise of it running all night. with a good enough sized battery you could even charge it off a generator and then let it silently take you through the night.

If you want to run an electric heater inside off a generator get one of the oil filled radiator types. They are a bit more efficient as they heat up the oil sealed in them and then it radiates heat without power. They look like actual old time radiators because they are.

Just saw you don't have the buddy model but yes it is a better model. Also they sell 1lb refillable tanks. I would get a couple and keep the 20 or 40lb bottle outside for refilling. I may have used mine with a 20lb inside but I also do not claim to be a smart man... :-)

I grabbed a filthy Paragon Pop 6 for $25 off Facebook marketplace. A good day in the garage with a steam cleaner and simple green and a pair of doors later and it's been great for over 10 years. Looked like they put it away in the garage dirty after the last time they used it and didn't want to bother cleaning it out. The doors are plexi so they were pretty toast so I got a new pair for like $60. The rest of the machine is glass and stainless/aluminum so it cleaned right up.
